whats the best intake system out for the xb?? anybody know??

Either the Injen or K&N Typhoon from what I've heard.

personally im going with the Injen short ram intake.

i have the weapon r intake. it was only 120.00 w\shipping. its a cold air intake .its the only intake ive ever bought for a vehicle so i dont know if one works better than the rest.from what i understand a smooth intake tube with no restrictions of the air going into the car and that the cooler the air is is what you want and most offer that. if there is a difference its probably not buy much at least not enough to notice except slightly on a dyno. the cool thing about weapon r is you can get a cold air shield for it that also allows for a ram air kit that weapon r also offers. a have the kit but im having trouble finding a spot for under the hood but i think i have found away around it with about an extra 40 dollars in 3 inch aluminum tubing bent at a 90 degree angle and hosing . when i find out if the mod works i will let everyone know. good luck on the intake

i have the injen RD2105 cai, & no complaints. i like how i can switch the intake to either short or cai within 15min. or less if needed.

from what I understand, the weapon R is not a true cold air, but a just a short ram (it takes air from the stock location). True cold air has to draw air far from the engine, or ideally outside the vehicle (fenders, grille, etc). . . this is not to say that short rams are inferior either.

The Injen is worth the money, and gives a noticeable increase. . .

Don't waste your money on the AEM. . . little to no gains. . .

I ordered a cold air injen and got the short ram in error. I still have it new in the box and re ordered the actual injen cold air so I can switch back and forth. If anyone wants the short ram, I'll let it go for $140 plus shipping. It is for the XB of course...

where does CAI filter sits??

is it too low danger of getting water into filter??

cuz my old CAI for maxima was right on top of the cover and that make me so diffcult to drive on the road where its flood...

1. with the injen RD2105 CAI, the filter is located behind the drivers side front bumper just below the fog light.
2.the filter itself is about 15" of the ground. you can fabricate shields, diverters, dry chargers (k&n) to keep the H2O out and away; unless if you're going to drive through about a foot & a half of water :shock: , you should be ok.
check the pics below, this is my box with the injen RD2105 with the "MO AIR" portal :lol: (hoping to shove MO AIR to the intake for MO response)
if it gets wet or a major flood in O.C., you can always switch the intake to short ram in a short time :D (pardon the pun)

I Have the K&N Typhoon and couldn't be happier, it gave just what I was looking for.

I picked up the Injen on eBay before I found ScionLife and it rocks. Should've bought it here. The sponsors here on the forums have great deals. Check'em out.

Personally, I have the AEM Toyota spec CAI. I beleive the Injen did the best, but the difference between all of them is +/-1hp or so.

We are talking about a mod that gives you 3-5 hp here, so the majority of what you get is a placebo effect (lets be honest)

I chose the Toyota spec AEM because it was what was available and it came with the bypass to prevent water ingestion (though that can be retrofitted to other CAIs)

The only thing I wouldn't get is a short ram. CAI's don't do alot to begin with, but one thing is for sure, shortening the air intake so that you are sucking in hot engine bay air instead of the much cooler air towards the bottom (note where stock air intake pulls air in!) will probably reduce power if anything. I'm not sure why they make short rams, except if you just want something that looks cool under the hood. They should just call them hot air intakes, because that's what they are.

If you want to fill up the space where the airbox was pick AEM or Injen. If you don't care about that K&N Typhoon.

The temp difference between the two spots can't be that much to cause a detrimental effect from the short ram. It's a matter of inches on where it pulls from. Also, if you look at the shootouts, the shortrams do better than the CAIs. The short ram eliminates the bends and obstructions that the stock airbox has...

So many people swear by the effectiveness of CAI's they forget that there are spots within the engine bay that have nearly the same temperature. . . and with the added benefit of a more free flowing system, short rams can be just as effective, if not better, with the added benefit of not having to worry about water and puddles.
