Well I was thinking about how i hate to have to use both hands to roll down the windows, or roll the front first then the back second (matter of laziness) and w/o my Multimeter to disect the wiring, i was wondering if anyone may know of a way to roll all four windows down at the same time w/ one switch, but still mantianing the independent controls. I guess i could use a 4 channel rocker, but seeing if there was an easier way.

Thanx,
Moto

Check out the wiring in the new H2 SUT - it's got an auto-5 down function. On a different note.... is all the hassle of wiring in a new switch really worth it? It takes like 5 seconds to roll down the front then the rear. Or just use all the fingers on one hand. I came from manual everything to power everything, I see no need to become even more lazy. Besides, if you roll all the windows up at the same time, you'll notice they move noticeably slower than the front two, then the rear two.... so all four at once will net you maybe a second or two less in 'down time'. What's the point?

I've been pondering the same idea. I'm not even going to discuss the necessity issue in a car you can touch both sides of...

Behind the door panel, along with the wiring that goes to the door lock/window control is another harness with what appears to be another set of connectors. I'm thinking maybe it's for RHD build vehicles, or some sort of backup harnessing(?). I was thinking something could be connected to those to control all the windows perhaps.

The draw when rolling multiple windows down does concern me. Would hate to over load something...

Anyone out there with the right meters and the know-how to check this out?

here is an idea if you are good at wiring.

use the window lock switch as your 'all window toggle'

when its pressed down, the drivers button becomes the 'all window' switch.
when its not pressed down, all the window buttons go back to normal.

that should work for ya.

Good idea!

I think the reason the windows "fade" like that when you roll all them up, is because the wires used to power the windows are just enough to roll one or two up at a time... so I may have to go back in and upgrade to a smaller guage wire (thicker wire) to supply the extra current. I'll keep you all posted.

What i've found thus far:

As in most the cucuits in this car, to power the windows, there is on "hot" wire, and the window that needs rolling, will get pulled to ground. I dont know this for a fact, not w/o a multimeter, but i think thats how it works. So i might be able to use a 4 channel relay, or something...

I think that is a pretty good idea. I have wondered for quite a while what it would take to get all the windows to have the same one-touch down as the drivers window. It would be so convenient to be able to just press the switch once and be done with it for every window.

i think the tC has a all up button, it only has 2 windows though

why not just get a couple of DEI window control modules and do it the right way? rigging up the switch could damage it...

yep that is how I have done it on other cars and my remote would do windows and sunroof

well i did it.... it was a lot more complicated in there (IC, resisitors, capacitors) then i was expecting (simple buttons). But after about an hour of disecting the curcuit.... i did it.... it draws a little more current than i want going though this one curcuit, but i'm still working on an alternitive. When I am done, i'm going to make it (if there is a demand) to make this a simple plug and play option. Make is so the only thing one has to do, is to take off door panel, disconnect harness, plug in unit (simple plug) then plug harness into unit. and then done!

PS - after this i'm gunna work on the Windshield wiper speed adjuster, with same style plug and play. Is anyone interested?

I'd be interested in both items, let me know when you have them ready :-)

well i'm looking for the connector that toyota uses. Its a 12122 (PBT) well without the manufactoror's name, i cant find the plug. The scion uses the Male end of the connector, hopefully there might be a male and female, then i can make it all work...

you just need to go to the dealer and look over the microfiche. They're probably shown here in the microfiche area (only sponsors can look at it). The dealer will go over it and if they're there - you could just order them on the spot.

well that may work.... if its anything like how Honda+Kawasaki do thier fiche (used to work in a motocycle shop), then it will be the harness in a whole on piece. But if i can, then i have the male, but to make it work, i'll need both male and female... I'll check w/ the dealer tomm....

well went to the dealer today.... yeah, no part# for the connector.... you can only get the sub wire harness. its just a mear $197  So i can get there and sell the kit for like $250! ..... Still looking for the connector (if anyone happens to find the connect pair, with manufactorers Part#, gets a free kit!)
