Hey everybody... quick question for those more in the know about superchargers than I.
What kind of effect would you estimate that putting a supercharger will have on the MPG of the TC? It's already 22/29 which isn't spectacular but isn't HORRIBLE or anything, but I'd imagine that adding the s/c will really bring that down. Anybody have any estimates or thoughts about the possible negative effects on MPG?

don't really have an idea about MPG , but i do know you usually have to switch to a higher octane when adding a supercharger. example- using 87 and switching to 93 for supercharger.

on these cars i have no clue but when i use to have
my hatchback i had a gsr supercharged and i had a
negative effect on the MPG but i also drove alot and
was alwaze hauling ___ and i know you might be doing
the same cause whats the use of getting a SC if your
not gunna use it im not sure how much it drops down
but it does drop i had to put gas like every 2 to 3 days

I somewhat agreed with that. I'm still trying to decode most of it. :lol: .. Your MPG shouldn't vary by much, its the higher octane fuel and heavier foot you should be concernedabout. BUT if you do drive it like a baby. you shouldn't see a huge difference.

it will widely vary on driving style. you can drive the car and shift before the supercharger really kicks in to save gas.

Hmmm, interesting. Yeah, I figured the higher octane was going to be necessary, which is brutal on the pocketbook... I dunno if I can afford getting a s/c TC or not. It'd be a shame not to though...

the difference between using 91 or 89 or 87 is not much at all. the difference might be anywhere from 5-20 cents. just think about all the times people lose change. i thought it was going to be a big deal to go from 87 to 91, but my gas charges went down. although i drive a matrix and not a scion, the price difference is really nothing.

Just don't supersize on your Wendy's runs and you should be straight. Better yet, cut out that crap altogether and save gas AND your arse.
Really, it seems like a lot but in the long run, it isn't.

I agree with iconXone.
It all depends on how you drive.
I used to own a NA supra and i got 15-17 mpg outta it. When i went to school i came back and my dad was gettin 22 mpg!
I also had a turbo mr2....and if you saty out of the turbo its was great on gas...too bad i never stayed outta it! :lol:
My guess would be that the supercgarger wont be as bad as a turbo, but if your are worried about a couple pennies for gas just stay light on the pedal unless it is necessary...as for me...ill be driving the hell outta it!

What would be the purpose of buying a S/C equiped car, or the add on kit, if you're gonna try to go slow to not use the S/C in order to save cash on gas ?
To me it's pretty easy, if you want the power of a S/C and have the money for it (S/C, installation, gas) then dive it FAST!
If not, then save your self a couple of G's and drive normally
