Don't own it but I wouldn't want to either. The bends look cheap, the hangers look too thin, and the welds look like they were done by a one eyed man with no thumbs. Then again it'll sit under your car and you won't see most of that. Guess it depends what you want an exhaust for...

close to the same amount of money and if you know what you're looking for and know how to communicate what you want with a capable exhaust shop.

with custom you can run any muffler you'd like and can get REAL performance . unlike an axle back.

after 4 different exhaust setups I've got an optimal system , great performance , GREAT sound at the RIGHT /legal volume and the tip/ muffler I want , and I have center exhaust.

but you need to know which size piping to use , what style of resonator to use , how long of a resonator to use . and so on and so forth.

a bolt on may be easier but nowhere near the best/ most unique.

after all is said and done all of my exhaust work over the last 3.5 years has only cost me about 600 bucks. if knew what i wanted from the start it'd be about 350.

if anyone wants any info on what size piping and what mods and resonator produces a good result lemme know I'll drop my opinion

Yeah right. A custom cat-back can cost less than these axle-backs that don't do anything. Unless you like paying $400 for some noise and an exhaust tip.

There's definitely better exhausts out there. Custom is nice, but if you just wanna throw something on there, look for used axlebacks. There's frequently good deals out there.

stock resonator , 2.0 inch cat back is a decent place to start

tc resonator with 2.0 piping is even better.

I'm not here to argue, but.... you're wrong. BTW not sure if you noticed your exhaust is in the center, but theres a cut out for the factory exhaust n your rear bumper. I call that "not an easy fix", nor is um welding, mandrel bending, torch cutting, adding extra hangers, and competeing with a billion dollar manufacturing industry who spends hundreds of thousands in design, testing, and precision manufacturing. I'll take an exhaust out of a box any day. In the end it's not even enough horsepower to even be relevent.

^ what he said, these cars aren't meant to be powered beasts of the road and really we're talking about 1-2 hp at the most... basically ~1% of the overall at best. Basically go with your pocketbook and with your brain. I just got my axel-back replaced with a custom cat-back but only because my tip had come off and I was tired of the freeway droning noise.

you guys are funny.

hundreds of thousands of dollars on testing.

on an axle back for a scion? NO. try they pick a good looking muffler ,add 2 bends and put a fitting on it.

and changing the exhaust from the cat rearwards vs just the axle back is a huge difference.

better power , a TUNABLE sound , and noise level .

any tip/muffler combo you want.

and a huge difference in power/tq as well as the ability of tuning you car more for torque or more for higher rpm hp.

and yes all of this is attainable on the cheap with EXHAUST.

but you have to know what you are doing or prepare to change out the entire cat back multiple times instead of just switching a muffler or resonator here and there.

i would honestly go with a exhaust company with a good reputation such as greddy, tanabe, apex. do it right the first time so u dont have to worry about it down the line.

but you get a much more limited choice , half the time the same price or more , less performance , no tuning either performance wise , tone , or volume

Magnaflow is one of the only CAT-back exhausts - and it ain't cheap.

That might give the most power short of no muffler, which isn't as loud as a ricer honda, but still loud.

Borla is another one that MIGHT have a CAT back.

The DC Soprts gave me good power. I would recommend it for bang-for-the-buck & ease of installation/fit.

One more IMPORTANT thing to consider with an exhaust - if you free up the exhaust TOO much, you'll LOSE power at the low end.
I removed my muffler for autocross. While I gained HIGH end power, I lost a significant amount of LOW end power. This means, you LOSE power on the street unless you drive like a moron, above 4000rpm constantly.

I just swapped my TRD exhaust for a Magnaflow axleback. There was a noticeable difference in performance.

I want to go custom. Anybody know the piping diameter of the stock exhaust from the cat back?
