Default If I buy..........

does anyone here have a Yaris.........we may be gettign one in a week or less it looks like.......my car has quit startign not gettign fuel or spark......possible computer problem or fuel problem that shut off computer.......and I hate to dump money into a 7 year old car that has a $1000 value.......just to get it diagnosed is $350 plus towing........not including repairs and there is no gaurantee they even diagnose and repair it right.........so........

I have the option to Buy or Lease.........I only drive about 9000 miles a year to work and I make $80 a week in milage fro driving to work which would pay for the car payments and to be honest I love the look of the coupe Yaris.........so what do you guys think........

I cannot afford the xD or I would get it but that is $4000 more and I do not make enough and I am eating Ramen now.......LOL.

I like the Yaris but wanted something with 4 doors. Thinking it would work out well for you though.

The one I found is also Camo Green.......so I think it is a leftover 07 that has not sold.......also it is a manual........I have not driven a manual in 10 years so I would have to learn all over again......which would actually be quite funny to video tape........old man learning how to drive a stick........

Car would be left stock..........for a while at least.......as we are paying off the tC in 15 months then I can play with the Yaris.........perhaps a Kaminari Yaris.......LOL.......seriously it would look hot........

i wouldn't get the yaris, i mean, compare the prices and options to the scion xD.

i mean, the base yaris hatchback has power...uhm...steering and manual window rollers, locks, no keyless entry...engine develops like 108 hp...

i mean, if you just need basic transportation, yeah, the yaris is fine, but hell, i'd just get a decent used car for that price that would be more reliable then what you've got, and have probably have more features than the yaris.

Tried to find a first gen........no luck on anything with low miles under $12000......I have what I call doomed used car luck........everyone I have ever bought died in a year........or cost me so much to keep going it was not worth it.........

Is that RS model still down south at the dealership........I would consider it is it is still there.........aslong as the miles are low.......which I bet they are not.........

There are three people that are part of this community that have switched to Yaris hatch's (that I know of). Andy (39), Tim's dad and the Foth. I have talked to Andy and Tim's dad recently and they really like their cars.

It is not fancy at the base level, but it is safe, reliable and gets great gas mileage. Don't see how you could go wrong...

The xD is way more car, but if it doesn't fit into your budget, the Yaris is a great alternative!

Good luck!

My dad loves his Yaris and I drive it a lot too... as it gets such awesome MPG and looks pretty dang sweet now... He has it lowered with tanabe springs and it looks just great.

I didn't like the feel of the xD at all... felt too confined in it for some reason and now love the look of the Yaris when lowered.... I get around 44 MPG to and from work when I drive it.

Nice wheels! Tim.

It is hard to find a base Yaris for the 10-11k MSRP that the Toyota web site advertises. They are all marked up to 13-15k. If you are getting a new one use Costco priceing it will save you a lot of time if you are a Costco member. If not pay the $50 and get a membership they will save you a lot of time and money or if you know someone with one you car ride off theirs.

For a little more work get the price from carsdirect.com and use it to negotiate the price you should be paying. Remember you are buying a Toyota, not a Scion so there is no pure pricing. You will have to fight for your price. According to carsdirect.com a base Yaris with nothing goes for $12,010 not too far from an xD with a lot more options and safety features.

To lower your payments you can go for a lease and then buy it out at the end, buy you will usually end up paying more for the car. You could always just lease for two years and then get something better for yourself once the tC is paid off.

Either way good luck and let us know if you need anything.

Very good, a little late but I was going to say (Dave) Foth's xB is 100k+ but still runs really well, and also carsdirect worked really well with my R32.

Anyway nice new car!! I have always loved those little hatchbacks! Don't have to much fun with it.
