That may or may not be true but I would trust garage's work before others.

i'm not saying that it wasnt a good diy, in fact i agree that it was very well done. i just remember seeing a bunch of posts regarding this led swap, might just be my imagination though

The part where you seperate the board housing from the light tube is covered with more of that 'foam' insulation'

You will have to peel that foam back to expose where you need to place your small flat sfcrewdriver to pry apart the clips & seperate the back housing from the light tube!!!

Yeah did an xB this weekend, the foam sucks. Just used a razor blade to cut around it. No biggie.

Coming this week, WICKED 5 chip superflux leds! WAY brighter than the two and four chip versions I have been useing which blew the competitions out of the water.

They are rated at 100ma

MCD rating is 46,000

Color temp for white is 6500 to mimick 6-8K hids! Price TBA. Preorders welcome, just PM me.

Forgot to add, these are considered 1/2W leds now!! Also are rated for 140 degree dispersion over the normal 120 degrees. The max MCD rating is 50,000. Nominal power input is 3.6V!

I ran them at 3.2VDC and put a peice of paper over them to show the brightness difference between the three. You can see the new 5 chip is a monster! To the eye it is pure white. The older 2 chip were a purpleish white.

Well I decided to do my mirrors... A buddy of mine had 6 of the superflux LEDs laying around. I'm still not sure which ones they were, but I do believe they are the 2 chip ones. I may upgrade to the 5chip...

It was a little difficult at first because I'd never soldered anything smaller than 12awg wires and 1/0cable... But as soon as I got my technique down, it was cake! I think start to finish, this job would take probably max 30minutes. And when I mean start to finish, I mean popping off the covers, disassembly, etc. It's a nice little touch, that's for sure!

I got mine, garage 1217. thanks alot.. BUT I stuck mine under the plastic peice over the radiator.. spaced 8 of 'em out so now it lights up the behind the grill area even behind the lower grill.. Not a bad light job for 15 bucks! thanks alot! jh

Pmd, and yes it was me I guess I just getting the mod fever... I had the whole interor out of the car for some sounddeadeding, installed aem intake, wired the car for sounds, started to get thing connected for the airbags

I orded 18 superflux white LEDs and well i got 5 amber ones in the mail...please help.

Yes I received your pm and responded, I do not sell and have never stocked amber leds, I would need those sent back for inspection becasuse as stated, I have never in my days stock amber & do not have any in stock. If you think they are amber because they look yellow looking into them, all white leds will look yellow. when not powered on, Please PM back and I will work it out with you & if we made a shipping error and shipped the wrong qty, my apologies, you will be taken care of.

is there any pics of your LED swaps on the xb2 ? can't seem to find them on your site

I have only done a handfull of xb2 swaps as they require new gauge faces for any color other than red. Also the blasted needles on the xb2 are tinted so that makes any color other than red on those near impossible. Overall, a very unfriendly car to swap.

Yes they will, these are many times over brighter than the factory leds.

I need to get with you on the main dome light and license plate. I currently have cathode tubes under the seat and front foot wells. Do you have anything to replace those?

How bright is the dome? I want something that matches your 194 bulb I have in the front map lights.

The new style is VERY bright. It is not a 100% color match but it is close. Not possibly for a flawless match as they are totally different types / builds of leds.

What I have now is the Oznium 5" x 1.5" Ultra thin domelight in blue. I want to go away from the blue lights and go to white. Will the light out put of the 36 chip led dome exceed what I have?

Mine would have a tiny bit less output as my boards have 12 leds / 36 chips vs 14 for that board. However for the price of the Oznium, you could buy two of mine for a total of 24 leds / 72 chips which would kick the crud out of that dome output wise!

Also my priority mail is only $5.55 so you would save money anyways!

i see hid white. so is that the violet color? i only see the violet tint option on the 194 bulbs.

got my stuff today. now to install the led's in the mirrors. any tips?

Glad you got them! Just take your time and do not cook the leds. Use a solder sucker to remove the old solder from the stock led pins. Once most of the solder is removed, you can just use a pair of pliers to pull each led off the board. They should come out with little effort if you get most of the solder off.

Also do not forget to pay attention to the led polarity! They are marked with a little notch on the corner of each led. This should match the factory leds exactly or none will light up.
