hey im looking for a person to remove my stock muffler and weld my new one on, im in the maitland area any one have it done around here and can advise me, a place where its gonna be done right for loww $$$!

any muffler shop in your area should be able to take of your needs for pretty cheap.

 

ya they can but a lot of those places are sloppy w/there welds and lazy with there hangers and 3 months done the road there ____ty weld job snaps and the hanger falls, im not saying asll of them but the last exhaust i had w/ my tercel i had problems with

1. over charged $100.00 for removal of old and install of new
2. bad weld= broken hanger 3 months later

 

man the exhaust shop I goto down here charges only like 40 bucks.

 

where did you have it done?

 

where do you go zac before? the place i went to was "roadrunner muffler" they charged like 25-30 bucks for install and what they do is chop off the factory muffler and weld the new one in place. they did a good on my sisters car, no problems so far.

 

well it depends on what kind of car it is the tC has 2 1/2" pipe and will require a few bends, but i went to meineke before, i think it was over a year ago

the place i am talking about was off of osceola parkway. im not sure on the exact location of the shop.

i do not plan on getting custom exhaust, but just a bolt-on one. IMO it's worth the extra money for a bolt on exhaust.

 

i guess if thats what you like, but i prefer welded exhaust and will not be bolting it on. thanx anyhow though, ill find something thats a good price, and ill let you know how good it turns out

 

He meant to bolt on the entire axle-back section (like TRD muffler) - not using clamps to bolt up a muffler....

Replacing the muffler will not do you much good. Stock muffler is pretty decent, especially with this valve that opens up at 3K rpm or so and becomes way less restrictive.

 

ohhh, i think i know what your talking about, i know the exhaust is good and i am not going to change anything in front of the rear axle i am just removing the HUGE mufflerthat is blocking the whole view of the underneath of the car!
my friend got me a ractive "short muffler w/a removable silencer" so i will be putting that on, if any one has put a ractive exhaust on the tC please let me know

also the valve you are talking about is up in the manifold right before itturns and goes under the motor. is that correct?

The valve is inside the "huge ugly" muffler that you are planning to cut out.

 

Mine was 40.00 to Take off and Weld a new pipe on..

 

what is the valve located in the manifold then, because i know there is a valve located in it also, i never heard about one in the muffler, im not saying your wrong i jsut didnt know about it

Never heard of a valve in the manifold - there is a catalytic converter right after the header, but no valves.

 

ya i think i was steered wrong, anyway do you think the stock exhaust is much better because of it, like i said the exhaust im putting on is a ractive "short can"
its not one of the huge ones they sell its normal size w/a removable silencer, i have had ractive exhaust before and really liked it

My take - leave it the hell alone. If you want that nice growl - get an intake (K&N is out, or you can try this $46 short ram).

 

theres no question i will be putting an intake on, ive always had intakes on my vehicles but im waiting for a different one than k&n i would rather have injen or TRD or AEM, also as i said before i hate how the muffler looks and sounds it way too quiet and way too big, i want to shed some weight, and see the underneath of my car so when i put my sway bars on you can see them,
the ractive muffler and others add a lot for looks and sound and hopefully performance!

Did you click the link in my post? ;) Yes, it's a modded Corolla short ram. I also posted couple of before/after vids together with pictures. It's not a looker, but does it's job.

As for exhausts - I went through 4 different setups on my previous car and went back to stock eventually. I'd rather have a fast quiet car than a slow one that sounds like it's trying to be fast. Makes more sense to launch off the light nice and quick and quiet than scream and just sit there. And the muffler will not add any power - just noise. Could be the age thing, though

 

i saw a long time ago what you made w/the corolla short ram i too have made my own short rams before and had just as good luck as my friends who bought them i didnt check your link though, but i will cause i want to order one, right now if i can, until the one i want comes out, i was going to when i first saw it but i forgot til you just mentioned it, i like short rams better for daily driving especiallly during the rainy season

i do agree w/you on the exhaust but i like being kinda loud (you shoulda heard my CBR) plus this one has a removable silencer!
i had two brothers on my CBR, had dual exhaust w/2 1/2" straight pipes no mufflers on my truck (350 V
and a 4" huge ractive can on my toyota tercel (that was the one that sounded like a race car and got beat by minivans!
