i know the first response is gonna be "search" but i've tried....i can't find a clean cut answer the the question: what axel back exhaust sounds best by itself and with a header and s-pipe? From what i can tell, an exhaust either sounds really good by itself but crappy with a header or vice versa.

not hard to find...in the drivetrain/power section...you know, the same one you posted in...at the top of the page. Go through this thread because there is plenty of sound clips with multiple setups

This is with a new custom midpipe. Before this all i had was mmw header s-pipe and precision muffler axleback "magnaflow". Only diff. is... with stock mid pipe, small amount of rasp. With new res and cat...... no rasp.
