View Full Version : Having a very difficult time finding wheels!

I am going to be ordering a Camo xB soon and am trying to find some nice wheels for it. I'm pretty sure I want 18" wheels, but I'm having a heck of a time finding quality ones that aren't $450 each. I would like to find some that are somewhat lightweight (maybe 18-20 lbs) for a reasonable price.

Also, is there a thread somewhere that shows xB's with different wheels? I am used to looking for 5 star wheels for a Trans Am and don't really know what will look the best on the box.

I found Enkei RS6 wheels that I think are nice looking, but the 18's are 23lbs. each; that seems pretty heavy.

Any help/input/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Jeremy

You may want to check out this sponsor - rimstogo.com. They are even offering a Scionlife special on Wheel and Tire combos.

You'll find that once you start pricing tires and wheels, the price goes up substantially once you go bigger than 18 inch wheels.

Economically, I find 17 inch wheels to be the best for me. Enuff tire sidewall to absorb shocks and jolts, and good ride quality.

I bent a few 18 inch wheels on my Matrix already w/ the crappy freeways in the Bay Area.

If I had a camo, I really like what Mark (Thescionicman) did w/ his black 17 inch Axis Maglites, or Brian (Dewmerz) w/ his bronze 17 inch Konigs.

Dude--he specifically said he didn't want to spend 450 a wheel.

I understand your love for Volk if you have them and all, but at least consider this guys situation before you waste his time!

Thanks for the replies guys!

See, here is the dilemma: I was planning on just getting the 18" TRD wheel/tire option, mostly because the $$ can be rolled into the loan. There are other wheels out there I like much better, but I won't be able to add them onto the loan. I realize the TRD combo comes out to around $500 per wheel (with tire) but it doesn't hurt as much when you can add it to the loan!

That Axis wheel is very interesting! The price is pretty good considering how light those things are! I am going to have to look at them for awhile to decide what I think about them.

I called Tirerack and asked them how much the 18" Pirelli P-Zero tires weigh (that fit a 18x7.5 wheel and they said 19lbs. So, if I can find a wheel that weighs in at around 15lbs, I would be in decent shape. I should call and ask about 17's since that is the biggest size the Axis Maglites come in. Do you think 17" wheel on a lowered xB will fill in the wheel gap nicely? I just want the wheels and car to look their best!

Thanks for the info! Keep it coming! Pics would be DIVINE!! :D

what he said

I'll agree with the customer service thing. I have ordered two sets of wheels from them, the first time I was told my wheels were being shipped same day. I live in Fl, 2 hours from their warehouse. A week went by, no wheels. I called and they werent really in stock so I waited longer. I got them eventually. Second time around, no problems what so ever. They DO NOT give tracking numbers however, which kind of ____ed me off, but if you live near their warehouses they have decent pricing and quick shipping.

why does it matter so much about the weight of the rims? Get what you want, not what they weigh.

Well, the car isn't exactly fast to begin with and I'm afraid to make it any slower by adding too much weight via the wheels. I figure it needs all the help it can get!

I bought Works and they were fine. A friend at Discoutn tire said they weren't that heavy as they looked. You will be fine with whatever design you decide on.

It's not just weight, it's UNSPRUNG WEIGHT. The less unsprung weight that you have, the less your suspension has to work to keep the wheels stuck to the ground helping both handling and ride quality. Plus the rotational mass, etc that will affect acceleration and MPG.

The weight's not the reason I bought them, but it is a factor that should at least be considered. How many threads around here are complaining about bumpy ride and poor MPG AND have the phrase "I just added some chrome 18's" or the like? I've read quite a few...

Thanks Brad. The Konigs change shade a little when the sun hits them.

WTF are you talking about? Can some one please direct this guy to the sautrn link where you can insert different wheel sizes and tire sizes?

Next to the stock size, this size 215/45R17 is less the 3% off. And, every speed trap i have passed, the radar ALWAYS matches my speedo.

And i was wrong, the difference is 1.7% Now tell me that that % is messing up my speedo!
