Default TRD CAI

I bought my TRD CAI with high expectations, but I was not impressed so I removed the by pass valve and replaced it with a 2" rubber plumbing conection it made it maybe slightly better.after reading about short ram air and how the TRD CAI is not that effective with its 5 bend to the intake.I decided to remove the bottom pipe and put the filter on the end of the top pipe and make it into a SRI it worked great and made a big difference . now my xa feels like its pulling harder and with more power .anyone out there that has bought a TRD(TURD) CAI do yourself a favor and dump the bottom pipe and convert it to a SRI you'll be happy you did.

Any codes being thrown? Also, how are you supporting the back end since it only mounts to the throttle body and one bracket on the lower pipe. My engine was damaged and the dealer claimed hydrolock (they claimed water built up in the bottom pipe below the filter), so this might keep that from occuring. I noticed the Injen CAI lists theirs as able to convert to short ram as well. I do need a new filter since the stock TRD one got bent from the factory fog lights (you would think TRD wouldn't have fitment issues)

no codes thrown.the filter just kinda just sits there ive had no problem with it .im not positive but injen short ram and TRD CAI top pipie are the same and the injen does not have a mount. my filment had a little bend in it when i bought mine i just made sure i had enough oil on my filter .If the filter is really damaged i would buy a new one,if not i wouldn't worry about it. http://www.nyxracing.com/injen-short...9.html?image=1

Yeah, I didn't like the look of the TRD filter anyway. I was thinking about getting a hydro-shield sock from Injen, might grab their filter as well.
