Double DIN? Why not more?
Thinking about replacing the Factory. (I want XM and amps).
Why are there very few double din HUs out there? You would think with all that space, that consumers would insist on maximizing the "real estate" with nice big displays, xm controls, ipod controls, etc.
Anyone have a good double din setup? Any good web sites?

This is a damn good question! It's so hard to find a quality double din h/u.
I replaced my stock unit with a single din and I hate how it looks! That big
space is begging for a bigger stereo. I might end up putting my stock unit
back in because it's the only perfect fit.
Too bad is sucks! (compared to high wattage aftermarkets with rca & aux inputs)

The kenwood unit is very nice. ive put it into several of my customers cars and they have been quite happy with it. You can also put an adapter on it to listen to XM radio if you dont want to go with Sirius....
Check out www.audiocubes.com as they have many Japanese market double din radios. I especially like the Alpine MDA-W915J, the Pioneer FH-P099MD, and the Panasonic CQ-TX5500D.
It is a shame that these products aren't introduced in the US. Perhaps take out the minidisc component to save money as not many people use minidiscs over here. There are plenty of cars in the US with double din units.

Well, I just re-installed my Stocker.... I'm gonna buy an RCA converter so I can hook my amp back up. It fills the gaps so nicely, and it even says SCION when I turn the car on! All of a sudden I've fallen back in love with it! Sound quality went down a little, but it's cool.
I want to save up to get an in-dash 7" stand alone monitor and put a DVD h/u in the spare compartment.... Or one of those pricey Kenwood or Eclipse 2DINs... Until then the stock unit ain't so bad. I wish I hadn't spent the money I did on my single din. Oh well! That's what e-bay is for!

I got to play with a lot of the 2DIN radios in Japan last January. I like the ALpine setup as well. One even has a sound eq for the xB! But now I am into the Eclipse setup for the backup camera. I need to find the OEM camera.
