Has anyone looked in to a good aftermarket cruise control add on? I am happy with everyhing the xB has to offer before I buy it, I only wish it has cruise.

Have a professional accessories shop install the Rostra xB Cruise Control kit.

The accessories dealer that contracts with my Toyota/Scion dealer installed one of these kits in my xB. It costs about $245 including labor (I negotiated 'dealer pricing.')

I think the kit looks factory and the features are excellent! I like it better than the Toyota stock Cruise on my wife's Camry!

I looked into the Rostra Cruise Control. I can obtain it from an Rostra approved distributor for, as I recall, $187 plus shipping. Some people claim to have paid dealerships up to $500 for the same unit. My dealership said about $350 when I inquired about it. I plan to install a Rostra cruise control myself when spring comes around. Old age and arthritic feet and hands do not work well in the cold.

I just installed the Rostra cruise in my driveway.

Easy job. 4 hours, going real slow. No problems of any kind.

The scion dealer I was visiting was installing factory Toyota cruises (like the one on a camry) for around $400. I dont know if it's better or worse, just saying.

I think the CC should be standard. I will miss having the feature. $245 sounds like a reasonable price for the install though. I would pay it.

How is a vacuume operated unit (which, BTW hasn't been factory equipment in any car since the late 80's) be better than an electronic unit that is approved for use in the xB by Toyota? What makes that one better, the fact that you sell it?

No, read up on the Magnuson-Moss Warany Act. Nothing can completely void your waranty. Ony certian waranty work can be denied if the said aftermarket part caused the failure.

Example, you install lowering springs on your car then a month later the head gasket blows. The dealer can no, BY LAW, deny the waranty claim because you have lowering springs. However, if at the same time you installed a supercharger then the dealer can deny it because they can prove the SC built up too much cylinder pressure and blew the head gasket.

Nothing wrong with it, you will just need an additional switch installed for when you depress the clutch so the cruise will not stay active.

Ah you mean turn off the cruise as soon as the clutch is pushed in just like the cruise is turned off when the brake is applied. Ok. And I take it these cruise kits account for that.
