Well you can't use the warranty to fix the scratch because it's not a defect in manufacturing (the car didn't scratch itself). If its bad (2 inch scratch = not bad) you can go through insurance to fix the damage but that'd be stupid... deductable, higher rates, etc...
My only suggestion is to use touch up paint if its a deep scratch. Or if its a minor scratch, use Meguiar's Scratch X. I had a rather noticable scratch on my hood. Don't know how it got there, but I used Scratch X and a little buffing and while it didn't completely remove the scratch, it made it almost unnoticable even to me who scrutinizes my finish daily.

Yup. Touch up paint will do it if it's bad enough, but otherwise go someplace like Detail City - http://detailcity.com/
You'll find a whole host of great information and informative people that'll help you out. Snap a pic of it if you get the chance. Maybe some of us can help you out a bit.
Sorry to hear about it. The first ding/scratch/dent on a new car is always a lousy experience.

Bummer. :?
I usually park far, in a corner. Always fold in my side view mirrors too.

I'd rather walk that have dinged up doors and such.

only prob with parking further is a higher chance of vandalism cus less people to witness. it has both advantages and disadvantages.
