I just got my indiglo Ac gauges in and I need some help installing them. I searched on the baord but could not find anything to help me out. Plus the instaltion instructions are crap to start with. Where should I hook the red and black wires to? ONe is ground I know and the other is for power and it says to hook it up to the parking light or something? Please somebody help me out!

black is ground and red hooks to your parking lights so that when you turn on your lights at nite the light turns on in the gauge...you should just be able to tap into the parking light wire after the switch

Default ac gauge install

Well, I just installed mine over the weekend. Let me preface this by saying that although my gauge works I would not recommend this install and I will have to change it soon (before my wife kills me). I put a ring end on the end of the black wire and used one of the metal screws that holds the dash in (the one to the front of the gauge). Then, based on information about the color of the parking light wire that is colored green on both the light switch and the radio illumination I chose to splice into the only green colored wire in the gauge wiring assembly. It turns out that this is not the parking light wire, but I think the wire that illuminates the oil light.

Now, just to let you know I have emailed a number of people in this forum about how to wire this gauge and I only received one response about running the wire to a fuse in the fuse box. That maybe what I will end up doing, but I believe all you should have to do is splice into the parking light wire. I have looked in the scion xb manual and it does not have a diagram of the wiring for the gauge harness. If anybody can provide us with this diagram I would be very appreciative.

Take care,
Steve

Thanks for the help guys. I'll see what I can do today or tomorrow. I've the plastic gauge sanded down and ready to paint so I won't be wiring anything too soon until I find out exactly where this parking light wire is.

Yes the right way to do it is the wire the red wire to the parking light or better yet .. any wire that is "hot" when you turn your lights on .. to do this get a test light (5bucks at walmart) (12 volt one) .. and it had a sharp end on one side that you can poke into the wire.. you wont wire your whole electrical system .. the other end you connect to the ground(on the test light) a simply test to give you a n idea of how to use the test light ( connect the clip to the ground on your battery .. and touch t he metal sharp end to the postive.. and the light will turn on) .. that gives you an idea on how to tell if the wire your peircing is hot or not.. if you to hook it up to a hot wire then the gauges will turn on when you turn the lights on

or

just wire it into a fuse to do that.. just pull t he fuse out .. and wrap the wire around the metal end of the fuse and stick it back in .. now you will wonder which fuse to pull.. you can pull the fuse to somthing that works only when your car is on of the key is in the ignition .. if you have any other questions just call us at the shop 817-656-5100

and ill be happy to help .. thanx
