I just got done installing a remote start purchased from Wal-Mart
It's a Bulldog RS-82 and it only cost $44.84 +tax, It only took 2hrs and was a very simple install they said to just twist wiresand tape, but I went the extra bit and did it right soldering all the conections and it works great. It has a 400 ft range

This may sound like a silly question but I have never had remote start, actually this is my first car with power windows/locks...Anyway, my question, when you use the remote start do your car doors stay locked while the car is warming? I am thinking about doing this and I kinda need them to stay locked while the car is warming. Thanks in advance.

most remote starts leave the car locked while it is warming up.

I bought one of those months ago but have been too afraid to hack it into the wiring. I keep hoping they'll come out with a T-Harness like they have for most other models, but they haven't yet...

I believe he is talking about plug in connectors that you use with the standard connections so you don't have to cut/splice the wires.
I'm sure someone will correct or clarify my explanation if I'm wrong.

Instead of splicing the wires from the remote start into your igniton wiring, the T-Harness allows you to just unplug the harness, plug in the T-Harness (connects to male and female ends of the harness with the wiring spliced into these connections and then plug the remote start wiring into the third connector...
Hey what's the name and part number? I don't know about your Wallyworld, but my Walmart is a mess!!

Let me try again:
When you unplug a harness, there are connectors on each side that go together. We'll call them connector A and Connector B. The T-Harness has 3 ends (hence the name, sorta t shaped) End 1 connects to connector A, End 2 connects to Connector B, End 3 connects to the Remote Start unit. Without the T-Harness, you have to splice the wires directly into the wiring of the harness. The T harness has the splices wired into it and allows it to be plug and play and also allows for easy removal with NO modification or damage to the vehicle's wiring harness,
Male and female usually refers to the sides of almost any connectors. Take a standard wall plug for example. The cord that has the prongs is considered the "male", the wall receptacle would be considered the "female". I won't go into detail, but hopefully you see why they name them those...

ey, i got me a remote start with security..and i'd have to turn my alarm off and then start my engine, or else the engine running with my alarm armed would make my alarm go off. get it? now i never had remote start before...and i'm sure this is a safety standard, but without the car key in the ignition, if you put ur foot on the brake or gas, the car will turn off. pretty neat.

I bought one of those alarms that pages you when it's going off (I bought it a few years ago, never installed it on my truck, and now I would like to put it on my xB). The remote has several buttons, so my question is could I (or the people I get to install it) hook up a remote start feature to my new alarm? Also, I still want the feature that when you press the stock remote once, only the driver door unlocks and when you press it twice all the doors unlock; is that an easy thing to accomplish? Lastly, could I have one button that rolls down all of my windows? Would I need any extra equipment to do all of the things I just mentioned? Any help is appreciated!

BestBuy is scheduled to install the Viper 160XV, Remote Start, Keyless Entry, Security System on our family Camry. $204 Installed. Two OPTIONS, at additional parts and labor, include the following:
[Convenience Expansions]
Power Window Control: Power window control is provided with
Directed Electronics 529T or 530T systems. The 529T system will
roll up two windows automatically when the system is armed, or
roll two windows down by using the transmitter. The 530T will roll
two windows both up and down. The 530T also provides one touch
switch operation.
Progressive Door Unlocking: For added security, your system can
be configured to unlock the driver’s door only, leaving the passenger
doors locked. Pressing the unlock button an additional time
will unlock the passenger doors. This option requires additional
parts and labor.
My Walmart didnt have the remote start either. But they did have the Bright Star head lights by Sylivan that i wanted to get.

Hey all - just did my own install of this remote start, and it was easy and works great. I went with the "tachless" install, and used 2 relays to tap into the factory remote wiring and parking lights. Took about 3 hours total, but in my case had to work around a buch of other wires. I like this particular remote start because I can use the factory remote locks to run the starter - just hit the door lock 3 times in a row, and it's up! Their phone support was excellent as well for the one question that I ran across.
FYI - there is one for sale on ebay as we speak, current bid is under $30 plus $6 shipping...

Ok, so i installed the BullDog RS-82 remote start today. Took about a hour and a half. No big deal really. The wiring diagram on their site helped out alot.
But i do have one question. I want my factory remote to start my box. I have seen here in this tread that it can be done. I have tried the method of grounding out the hood pin wire, no luck. I went to the site, and found the way of using the brake pedal. No such luck there either. If someone could pass along how to get my factory key fob programmed so i dont have to use 2 remotes, and unlock my car before i start it up, it would be greatly appreciated.
