Default Tova is Broken!!

What the hell happened?!?! I get in my car to drive home and the check engine light is on. I call my dad...(yes, dennis, I called my dad) and he said to just try and drive home. So I did, even though this may not have been the smartest thing to do. I was thinking that maybe something was up with my heat, because the whole way home, it never kicked in. But as I was a block away from my house, my engine was about to over heat. What is going on?!?!?!

Have you checked your engine coolant level. If you had no coolant that would explain the overheating, and your heater gets it's heat from the coolant and that would cause your check engine light to go on. Just a thought, hope all is well.

Actually, considering its a new car, it better have coolant. If it has water in the radiator, then def take it back, somethings wrong.

a lot of sytems have water in them as well, but it depends on where you live climatically. when i flush mine here in OK or TX, about half to 3 quarters rad. fluid, the rest water. but anyways. there's a TSB on the check engine light flashing, however an overheating car doesn't really sound like thats the problem. suggestions have been offered. either no/not enough fluid or perhaps the thermostat is faulty, in whatever case good luck.

50%/50% mixture of coolant and water. NOT all water, unless you're stranded somewhere and it's all you can get your hands on, and in that case, only until you can get to a gas station.

we use rad fluid because of the weather... due to it's chemical properties it doesn't allow the cooling mixture to freeze or boil as easily as water alone would... however having too much rad fluid could cause early deteriotation of your radiator and or cooling lines... having too much water could cause you to have insufficient cooling in extrememely cold or extrememely hot weather. an ideal mix is 50/50 water/antifreeze... more water in certain milder climates should be okay... in the northeast you should be running close to 50/50 though...

BTW how's tova doing?

edit: oops should've read the last couple of posts...
