I was looking into installing a water temperature gauge in my Xb. I have seen this done before, but I have a question. Does anyone know where to mount the sender? Or, is it possible to use the one that is connected to the virtually useless lights we all have. Any help would be appreciated.

Just get one of these and you're set.

That's simple enough. Where can I get one? Any suggestions?

umm i'm pretty sure it already has a Coolent Temp guage. So you just need to tap into that.... I could be wrong... otherwise, how would it know if the engine is hot or cold?

The installs that I have seen, have gone this route.

Or a variation there of. Some have used the HKS adapter, and some have used others.

The Toyota/Scion parts guy told me that the blue and red coolant lights are connected to the xB's computer and that no sender unit existed. I like having both the lights and a gauge.

Here's a pic of my water temp setup:

Thanks RPMxB !! Nice pic's and post. You should do a couple tech articles.

I would be interested in the rear dome light. I was going to do a cargo area light myself. Any help to all of us would be welcome.

I use the AC sender adapter pictured above and have been very happy with it. Just cut the upper radiator hose in half and it clamps rite in-line. One thing to keep in mind is that you should definitely use either Teflon tape or thread sealant where the sender screws in (I used both) or you will get a slow coolant leak. I got mine through scionsport.com
