Default All tC owners, Please reply

Wsup guys,

I have a 2000 Honda Civic Ex and I've been pretty satisfied with it, until I saw the tC. I know the tC is great for the price, but I was wondering what sorts of problems occur often, and whats great about it.

And if anyone lives in NJ, I was wondering if there are any dealers that you guys suggest.

thanks

No problems, other than other people wanting my car.

Even my civic Si buddies want my car. haha

No realy big problems w/ the tC that you need to worry about. Feel free to read about the board!

I have had no problems. Some people have complained of noises like sunroof popping and rattles in the back. Even if I had those problems I would not think of trading my tC for another car.

I had the exact same car as you(00' Civic EX) While I enjoy my tC I really did love my civic. Was a very easy car to drive. Gotta tell you though gas on the tC is pathetis compared to the civic, which is becuase the civics a 1.6l compared to a 2.4 While you do feel more power it sucks that a 4 banger uses a good amount of fuel to do it.

So far no problems with my moms car. No noises, nothing.........

I suggest the tC.

a 2000 EX civic? same design as my 96 Civic that the tC replaced so I can directly relate to your question..

any problems I've had?

- one rattle, fixed by some foam tape in the center console
- wheel alignment off from the factory, dealer fixed that
- two cd players were bad.. present cd player working great, sounds great..
- drivers side headlight fogging up to be replaced (the civic had this in both headlights back in 1996, kind of used to this problem of replacements)

here's what is different from the civic compared to the tC, the tC has...

-seats are much more comfortable, supportive
- drive line is more responsive
- less road noise
- more torque and acceleration in the tC, but about a 5 mpg drop in fuel economy.. oh well.. i'll take it!
- MUCH better brakes
- better handling
- engine warms up much quicker than the civic (great in the winter)
- stock radio is MUCH better than the 2000 Civic..
- interior materials of much better quality.
- more room for rear passengers
- easier to get out of the vehicle.. door is longer, easier to get out of..
- doors are heavier and more solid..

And the biggest factor.. It's more fun to drive. The civic is "nice" but the tC is fun.. The suspension in the 2000 Civic rides a little too hard, while the tC is better riding but provides better handling.. and less body roll than the civic.. So it's fun to drive fast or slow.. Test drive one and you can see for yourself.. While my 1996 Civic was one of the only good cars when it came out, the tC takes that up a notch and gives me everything that the Civic was missing..

I am in NJ and I got mine from Scion of Vineland, south Jersey. I have also heard that Scion at the DCH Brunswick Toyota place in North Brunswick is good too. Good hunting if you are looking for one.

I had a2002 civic ex 5speed...needless to say the tC I have now is way better! Acutally I got more for my money from the tC than what I got in that civic.

bergen county jersey here....

I have had none of the problems listed on this site...knock on wood...my car is awesome...the only problem that i have had is the fact that things like to hit my car

on my way home from the dealer i got a nic in the drivers sideview mirror(on the paint) ....the dealer will cover this....so...not so bad

however...if you live in jersey, you know its been quite windy here today....i was driving down the road and a huge branch fell on my trunk i thought i got hit by another car it was so loud....scratches down the trunk and a gash in the bumper

i get the est. tmw

I also traded my '00 Civic EX for my new tC, and agree with most of the positive points that sciontc_mich listed, in particular with the lower road noise and MUCH better acceleration and handling.

Downsides:
-Manual tramsmission on my EX was smooth as butter - The tC is fine, but notchy
-With the moonroof on my EX open I had very little noise at speed, and only a little wind push - with the moonroof on the tC open (to 1st stop) it is gusty as hell at speed, and quite noisy to go along with it.
-Adjustable seatbelt height would have been a nice thing for the tC (this is only a complaint if you don't 'fit' the seatbelt height)

I had a 97 Civic EX and IMO the tC is better in every aspect. I love having torque in 5th gear, it's good for passing people on the freeway if you don't feel like shifting. On the civic i had to drop to 4th, sometimes even 3rd, but now I have power in just about every gear. I love how it handles and how smooth the ride is. The interior is much classier and getting people in the back is easier. The trunk space is awesome and folding down the rear seats for a bed can make some "interesting" nights. I have not had any rattles or problems what so ever. I get a ton of compliments on it bone stock pretty much everywhere I go. I was contemplating getting the rear spoiler lip but I think the car looks great as it is.s

Cliff notes: I love my tC.

OhhhHh.. that was the dealer I was going to go to since its like 10 min away from fortlee (where i work)..

anyways thanks for the replies guys... and i wouldnt mind gettin more..

my civic is not the greatest tho, i bought it as a used car and put alot of money into it. stuff such as 5zigen 17's pirelli p-zeros, pioneer soudn system... and alot more.. now i regret it cuz i dont have the stock parts and the trade in price is going to be alot lower..

so how long did you guys have to wait for your tC?[/quote]

So i left a message telling him to call me if he gets it today.. is it just my salesman or does every salesman NOT CALL his customer back? my salesman has said he's gonna call me back for this and that a billion times and only did it ONCE.. ONCE. wtf.. he could have at least called me back now and said.. we didnt get it yet.. geez HE IS ANNOYING. and picks up the phone 1 time out of the whole day of tryign to call.. just my guy? or everybody?

Any salesman that is selling a car that is HIGH in demand usually will get a little cocky. Not to sound like a jerk, he doesn't need me or you to sell that scion.

and about the service, i think its something that you should really seek some information about. You probably heard this over and over again, but first year cars always have some kind of issues that they weren't able to catch before it was released. Some frequently stated issuses such as the rattling or headlight fogging. If the service is wack.. avoid the dealer

My friend has a 2003 Civic EX, the $22,000 variety with all the bells and whistles. I have been in that car for lieterally thousands of miles, and while it is indeed a nice car, the tC is far superior in any way I can think of.
