I am installing my H.Techs Friday and I looked through the service manual to print out what everything needs to be re torqued to. While I was looking over it I noticed that it says the top nut for the struts are one time use only.

So my question is if anyone reused them or in fact did use brand new ones?

Reused them. Don't recall the manual saying to get new ones, but then again it's been a year-and-a-half since putting on my Htechs ... no nut issues since, ha-ha

Guess if you want to play it safe you could price new ones through the dealer ... curious to see how much they cost ...

Only 1 - 2 dollars or something, checked Trdsparks

anyone know for sure on this? I have never heard of strut bolts being one time use.

Well here's what I think amp is referring to, components diagrams for both f & r suspension show the strut/shock locking nuts as "non-reusable parts":

http://www.scionlife.com/tech/manual/?manual=tc05_1613
http://www.scionlife.com/tech/manual/?manual=tc05_1638

It's probably no big deal ... maybe amp could buy the new nuts and compare them to the stock nuts after removal ... see if there's any difference ... I really wouldn't expect any.

I just installed my springs today, they are definitely reusable 100%.

from what I understand the one time use bolts are designed to stretch when they are torqued down which is why they are one time use because they don't go back to normal when you take them off. They also normally have a really weird torque pattern that you have to follow. I would just buy new ones if it says to. I am sure they just didn't write that for the fun of it.

I can understnad that, many bolts on engines are one time use for that same reason especially on higher end motors, but I have never heard of one time use nuts being used on struts....
