Default Is it worth going from trd springs to htechs?

Is it worth going from trd springs to htechs? I want a more aggressive drop and i have trd springs now. I have 18 inch wheels and i dont wanna rub that bad so i dont wanna go to s techs. H techs are a lil more then the trd, so im just wondering if it is worth it?

thanks,
mike

Anything is worth it instead of the TRD springs. TRD springs give you a hardly noticable drop. Go for the H techs. And just because you have 18s doesnt mean you will rub on s techs. Im pretty sure there are people on 19s and 20s on S techs that dont have problems. It all depends on your offset

Then put a load in the rear with a nice audio setup.

Putting weight int he trunk of a rear that was already lower, would just make it more lower thewn the front, I dont like the way that looks.

^Oooo... my bad. I got your phrase twisted in my mind.

But, that would look horrible even lower in the rear.

If I recall, h techs are a 2" drop? 1.4 is the best for handling, and any lower is actually not going to handle as well. So if you just care about looks, then the h-techs may be ok. If you are trying to make the car handle better you are better off with something under a 1.5 inch drop. The TRDs are actually about 1.3 after settling which is pretty close to the right drop. The spring rates could be higher, but they are a decent mix of street and handling.

I was waiting for you to post, the drop with htechs are 1.9 in the front and 1.5 in the back. Do you think id be able to tell a differance in loss of handling by switching to h techs?

Go with the H techs! I have them and i have 18's too. I've never rubbed and the drop is very noticeable and nice.

don't get h-techs -0- might as well stay with TRDs then if you want to stay at a delicate drop!

TRD & H-techs have almost identical spring rates, differences are related only to ride height. H-tech drop looks better IMO, which is why I chose them, but you will scrape the front lip more, especially if you mistakenly take steep driveways head on.

If you're planning to autocross better off staying TRD. Too severe a drop throws off your suspension geometry, like engifineer said closer to 1.3-1.4 inch drop is optimal for handling. For example, Sport Compact Car put coilovers on their Project tC car; their suspension gurus determined the best ride height for corner balancing was about a 1.34" drop.
