I think the breaks are great, the tires kind of suck in the rain though.

Brakes are good. Tires are probably more limiting than the brakes. Especially in wet weather. The tires aren't that good in rain.

I've got new tires and I'd rate the brakes as adequate, but not wonderful. The car is pretty heavy, so if you just want to stop, you're covered, but if you want to feel that extra bit of control where you know you can haul this thing to a stop on a dime, it isn't there. My rating is like 7 out of 10. I don't think you'll find anything to complain about and they don't seem to fade if you hit them hard, but I've stopped faster.

ive got a header and intake... the car is heavy... momentum and heavy... more breaking power needed... a LOT more... they are good for stock brakes though, but if you plan on driving aggressively it would be nice to upgrade them

Right... I agree with mahalzkita - good for stock but they could be better. Unfortunately, a real break upgrade seems to be pretty spendy. Someone on here was talking about just getting bigger roters and that for something like .5 HP loss you could get 30% braking gain or something - anyone end up doing that? Can you do this with the stock wheels?

i have twice . Due to te fact of road rage and stupid people . for expample last night with a gangbanger pulling the middle finger at me . I had to take care of business for stupidity so i threw a frag. bottle at his window. I stepped on the break really hard . The anti-locks break kick in you can feel them. But you struggle to leave the break down because momentum jerks the break peddle. Like when skidding on ice, the tires skid and the tires dont rotate when sliding. So you have to lock the breaks while the car is in motion. Its kind of hard. But overall, i like them i rate them 7 but i like them

I would have to agree... from my own experience, i'm accustomed to a far quicker stop, but i attribute the difference to the fact that its a way heavier car than i orignally drove. The brakes are ok for stock. I think everyone agrees that the tires are worthless. I think a brake upgrade would feel great but its more money than most people want to spend on brakes. I would probably in the future get some better tires and some more agressive pads.

Oh... another thing - speaking as someone who has upgraded the tires, not only do they feel WAY more confident in cornering, they feel better in breaking, road noise, and (surprising to me) they feel a lot better in general suspension - before the upgrade the ___ end had a tendency to fly away over bumps. Like it would loose contact and have a hard time getting it back. Now I feel like I never come unglued. It's great.

Geez man that sux.. how much for good tires???
I dont think imma buy new tires because I'm not an aggressive driver and i've had an 88 nissan maxima for 4 years.. So I'm guessing that these BRAND NEW tires HAVE to be better than my old car right?

Well, I'd say the biggest deal is where you live. These tires are decent for dry weather, but are bad for rain and horrible for snow. Good tires cost about $600. Really. You could pay a lot more. They are worth it for bad weather, no doubt about it. If you can't afford them now, it's what you should be saving for.

Honestly, if you drive even vaguely agressively, if you take a curve and it's wet, the wheels will chirp if not give up. I know you can stay on the road, but I didn't have faith in the car. With new tires, I can't break them loose. I got nice continentals, but you could probably go down to maybe 400 installed and still beat the OE's. I just don't know if I'd go through the effort if I wasn't going all the way. I'm not the guy who gets everything for the car - just the things that are worth it. My justification was if I slipped and knocked the mirror off of a parked car or something, between the repairs to me and him, it would be $600 and I'd be ____ed about it.

i agree, breaks are great as stock, but the car is very heavy. they should seriously sell a new light weight addition tC next year, kinda like the evo MR.

Honestly, I like our big heavy tC. It feels solid, it sounds pretty good and it's got that big glass roof. If you want an ugly fast car, get a Spec V. I bought my tC because it's pretty darn fast for a 2,900 lb. car. I don't know a whole lot of people around here (even on this enthusiast board) who would trade the extra gadgets and comfort for a light weight car when it comes down to it. Plenty of people would like the car to weight less, but not many people are ready to sacrifice for it.

are they THAATTTTT bad? no. they're fine for me, but I"m coming from a jeep cherokee that absolutely SUCKED in the rain, ice, snow, etc. (note, it sucked in 2-wheel drive. 4-wheel drive was Part Time, so no open differential between front and rear. you HAD to have at least one wheel slipping when you had it in 4-wheel. several times I was driving in 2WD b/c the road was just wet, and hit snow/ice and start spinning, yank on the lever for 4WD and downshifting immediately afterwards, giving gas the whole time. ahhhh, fun times... :? )

so compared to an SUV with decent tires? the potenzas are great. can you drive like its dry and 60 degrees out? nope. I'll probably go for something more agressive when these wear out in another 30k miles, but for now they're fine for me.

for new tires to replace the OEM ones i would HIGHLY recommend the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S All Season High Performance tires ... if ya look on Tirerack.com they outrate every other tire in their class and cost 35 dollars (each) less than the bridgestones ya get stock ... ($460 to $600) just my two cents ... did some research ... they are one of the best tires to replace stocks with .. i plan on puttin them on after the snowfall stops .. and replace the barely used stock tires ... cuz i think it would be a serious improvement (sellin my stock tires if anyone is interested)
