well this sucks
well i dont think to many have noticed but ive not been on here for some few days well our computer decided that it didnt want to work for us anymore so we asked around and a few people have told us it might be the visual card went out so we went and bought a new one last night and well nothing so here is what happened i woke up to go to work computer worked fine had to check the weather out like always since i am up so early and then i guess when jessica woke up the computer screen was blank and saying no signal and then the modem well the power button on it should be green when power is running and comp is on well it is not green it is orange and it is make a noise like a low humming like when you start to download stuff. so we did try switching monitors and well same thing nothing. so like i said we were told if that dosent work then maybe it is the visual card went out well went out and spent $79 on a new one plugged it in and still nothing so now i am sitting at the college on one of there comps typing this untill we get the comp to her brother so he can look at it so i will be calling brian to check up on thing on here. so if anyone has any helpfull things that might work please pm or reply to them on here. plus i did last night clean out the computer got all the dust and junk cleaned out and oh yeah i own a dell computer if that helps thanks and talk to you guys later
hmm... try just plugging in the monitor, keyboard and mouse. sometimes the computer needs to have the BIOS updated and if not, it wont boot up the USB or other plug and play devices. if the video card went out, the monitor wont turn on at all. just wondering, how many beeps does your computer make when u boot it up? and im just a little confused about the modem or the computer you said.... which one is orange? the computer? or the modem?
...dude you got a dell...
sorry had to throw that in there. I had a dell laptop. the HD died right after i paid it off...and then the sound went...then the hinge broke on the screen...and then i finally killed it when i accidentally spilled a bottle of beer (give new meaning to pourin one out for the homies i guess) .lasted 6 agonizing years tho... good luck with your computer.
if you end up buying a new one check out the open box markdowns at best buy. we found one that they marked down way more that they were supposed to .

import how much dust and junk did you clean out of the computer and what did you use???
if your fans in your computer get too blocked or covered with dust. your computer can over heat. it would be like blocking your radiator on your TC. not a good idea. one thing you have to know about computers is that it is real easy to fry computer parts. when putting the card into the computer you have to ground yourself to the tower to avoid electrostatis shock to the new parts. how you do this is by just touching the metal part of the tower. you can hold the frame of the tower. it would be the big metal cage that has all the other parts inside it. if you just grabbed the video card and tried to bolt it in. you might of very well blown the card. but i really do not thing you had a video card issue to begin with.
Dells have 3 modes of working. first one would be running at full power and you can use it. Seond mode would be Sleep mode. turns off monitor and lowers the spin on the hard drives. 3rd mode would be hybernation mode. turns off hard drives video card and other equipment that is not needed. it also caches the information like any browsers or stuff you were working on to the hard drive and powers down to a very low voltage. it is almost like it shutsdown. but when you move the mouse or hit a key it comes out of this hybernation mode when this happens it will look like it did a fast reboot. but while it is in this hybernation mode the green light you see on the tower button will go from green to another color like orange. all that is telling you is that the comp has power. just doesn't know what to do about it. kind of like a honda owner with a turbo. has the power. but lacks the knowledge enought to know how to use it poperly. lol
with out looking at it or knowing what model you have. try this. unplud the cord from the tower ( the big metal case ) from the wall. that 3 prong plug. let it sit for 2 minutes and replug it back in. see if it boots up at all or tries to. dells have a screen that says Dell in big letter that is a splash screen like on a inhome dvd player. if it does not even get that far. recheck if the card you put in the computer is put in porperly. this is a common mistake by a lot of people ( including Cough cough me cough cough) if you see that it is in correctly then could be a few things. bad power supply or the tower got hot. at this point with out being in front of it. i could not tell you exactly what is wrong with it.
but if jessica's brother knows computers take it to him ASAP. leaving it powered or plugged in could cause more damage. also a good idea to ask him what he needs you to bring over with you. like mouse and keyboard and monitor. when he is working on it ask questions and get to know what exactly is in your computer. they are not that hard to work on. heck easier then a scion to work on and build ( aka mod).
