Looks awesome!!! ill bet it sticks to the road a lot better than with those stock tires, doesnt it?

btw, where did you get that sharkfin antenna?

looks alot better now and i see you got some really good tires there, hey what's up with the shark fin?

Yea the tires are much nicer than stock. Surprisingly I don't feel like the ride has worsened from jumping to 18s from 16s. I got both my rim+tire combo from a great place out in Long Beach that beat the tire price of America's Tire Co. by $30/tire :)

The fin is from VisualGarage in Canada :) They were very helpful in working with me to see if the fin would fit over the sat. receiver, it didn't sadly. I got the fin because I dislike the regular antenna on the car. Plus.. its looks great in person. No more black antenna being an annoyance. :P

thats good the ride didnt change much. are you having any rubbing at all?

is the fin color matched/did you have it painted?

Those wheels looks awesome! It really paid off to wait for something you liked.

The drop combined with the 18's really fills it out. Congrats.

I think we all want that fin.

No rubbing yet :) Though I barely have ONE finger gap between the tire and the fender  Now I just need some rolling shots.. they look great in motion.

The fin came color matched to my car. You tell them the color of your car and they'll do it for you. It's pricey but well worth it.

Woohoo I started a trend. :lalala:

Looks nice Chels, I've seen the fins on xA's alot, and their functional, which is even better.

$69 plus tax and shipping for a paint matched sharkfin?? thats a sweet price. looks like something else just went on my to-do list, lol.

what are the specs on the wheels? widths and offsets

Mine are 18x7.5, and I believe the offset is +40mm. Basically they're these (http://www.jlbmotorsports.com/PICS/KONIG/MAXXIM/17_dead_blkred_s_600.gif) wheels but in silver and 18s :) There's a seller in the classifieds that sells the wheels but last I heard they won't be getting any more in for another few weeks or so. :?

Thanks for all the nice comments guys :) Makes me feel good!

Ok, help me out here, I'm old and easily confused

You said in your post that the shark din "sadly did not" fit over the sat. ant.

But it's on the car. Is is working?

I really like both your tire/wheel combo and the fin. I agree it looks 100 x's better than the stock antenna.

it fits for the antenna but it doesnt cover the satellite radio reciever though

ChelsDS
07-14-2008, 11:03 PM
^^ Exactly.

The fin only covers the base of the antenna, not the receiver you get if you opt for satellite radio.

Chels,

I'm old too. :nails: Having said that, if the fin only covers the base of the antenna, doesn't that affect your reception since you don't have a mast?

ChelsDS

Nah :) Inside the fin is a cable and a circuit board that you attach to the antenna that you just took off. So the fin itself is an antenna which is really nice since my satellite trial period is now over

So I'm on eBay (bored) and I looked up xD to see whats being sold for us (mostly crap) but then I saw a familiar item that I have on my car. Apparently Visual Garage is on eBay selling their fins! :) here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Custom-Painted-VG-Shark-Fin-Antenna-Scion-xD_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33639QQihZ013QQitemZ230283448057QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW=)

Whats even more fun is that they're using the pictures I sent them. Yay fun :)

quote] Wheels look great! Wondering how'd you get the black part on your front bumper like that? Looks pretty sweet. Love the tint & blacked out tail lights & side markers. Bravo

ChelsDS
10-20-2008, 10:39 PM
I actually took the tint of the side markers since they weren't the best fit. Looks better without them honestly.

You can get the overlay from Blue BatMobile :) I don't know if he's got a template done for the RS xD yet. He's down in San Diego so you might be able to help him make one, if you're ok with driving that far.
