Default Bad tune?

So...im on a really crappy tune. and i have to go to arizona for school in two months, do you think i can unplug the f/ic and drive to arizona out of boost without a f/ic??

main reason is that my gas is HORRIBLE. and i want to get there without drinking gas like it's water.

if your off boost wouldnt the tune be stock anyway? I dont know too much on the f/ic but unless you under boost then the stock ecu should be in control with piggybacks.

FIC tunes partial throttle as well.. so he could have a bad partial throttle tune.

Aen - if you just remove the FIC you should also re-install the stock injectors.. Your larger injectors will bog your engine without the FIC pulling back fuel at idle and under normal driving conditions.

the fic has the ability to tune at partial throttle as i recall(i havnt gotten mine yet). aen are you going to be going back and forth atleast once a week or are you staying there. id say do it if its just one trip but it all sounds a little scary to me. at some point(i know you know this) you gata get a decent tune or ditch the turbo for the time being.

i thought the tc ecu measures the amount of gas going in and doesnt let more...

i had the f/ic off the car for a while because it froze up during updating and i had to send it to aem.

and i drove hte car without piggy back and not in boost, no bogging...the car actually ran really well...well in terms of gas haha

can't i just leave hte injectors in? the ecu will measure the amount of gas that is injected and only put in....whatever the stock injectors capacity is right?

i ran it like that and it ran fine...i also got great gas milage, i was just wondering if it hurts the car in any way

You could leave the injectors in and use the new injector calc wizard in the 3.01 version of the software to compensate for the larger injectors when not in boost. Then, as long as your out of boost, you should be fine...I just don't know how your gonna get over those few hills without getting into boost...I couldnt' when I made the drive a few weeks back, and if you thought my car ran bad before, you shoudla seen it trying to tacle those hills...it would go FULL RICH and I could nto get it over 80mph!

you have 650 injectors? i drove mine with 550s and it runs too rich, if you press on the throttle too much or too fast you will hit 10 and the engine would die
