View Full Version : short ram intake? athlete3232 05-27-2008, 01:20 AM I have an 08 scion and i cannot find SRI's anymore!?!?!? I ordered one last month but something went wrong with the order and i got a refund. Now i cant find one anywhere?!! lost technology or what?!?!? jblaze4lif 05-27-2008, 01:33 AM injen cai is also short ram .... try hopupracing.com or wesellcarparts.com ...... sciontC 05-27-2008, 01:55 AM ^ yep, if you get the injen intake system it converts to sr. athlete3232 05-27-2008, 01:59 AM true. but i dont wanna pay the money for cai when imma just use it as a sri... from wat ive seen the cai is twice as hard to install.. is the difference worth it? Air2TheThrown 05-27-2008, 02:38 AM Weapon-R sells SRI http://weapon-r.com/english/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=5359 Pretty sure you can find a better deal elsewhere. Ro_Ja 05-27-2008, 02:40 AM Doesn't the TRD intake also convert to SRI? airmank1 05-27-2008, 03:30 AM Doesn't the TRD intake also convert to SRI? yes it does, thats what i did daemana 05-27-2008, 10:41 AM Is the SRI the injen cai everyone gets? or do they get the normal one? or the racing development one? >_< KillaSpiceTSW 05-27-2008, 04:48 PM You actually lose hp when using SRI, unless you just want the growl, then go for it bro. daemana 05-27-2008, 10:30 PM what about the Injen RD and SP Series cold air intake systems? does one growl more than the other? which one doesn't lose hp? KillaSpiceTSW 05-27-2008, 11:11 PM Just think about it... When using SRI your sucking in all that hot air, because its located so close to the hot Engine, Fans, Valve Covers etc. Using CAI sucks in that beautiful Cold Air, yum yum sounds so great. The only thing u have to worry about is hydrolocking and catastrophic failure to do the motor because of it. Usually that only occurs if you drive throw a lake. LOL, just dont drive through any huge puddles and you should be fine. If your worried bout hydrolocking it by an AEM bypass... Then your good to go. Take it easy... crush02342002 05-28-2008, 12:05 AM if your worried about installing a cai then have the dealership do it(however they tend to be pricey). All injen products come with step by step instructions with pics(not color though...lol) and doesn't take a degree to install. so id say install it yourself. Also try serching youtube so you can compair each cai and sounds. HCSi 05-28-2008, 12:19 AM for sri's do you get a bit more throttle response with a little hp gain. im aware of the heat soak when the car is stationary, but when the car is on the move all the fresh air is being passed through the engine bay right? crush02342002 05-28-2008, 12:35 AM all true to some extent. its alittle better over stock but dont get me wrong cai isnt like a huge performance increas over short ram...just a little better. BlckdOutTC 05-28-2008, 02:00 AM ebay =] daemana 05-29-2008, 11:17 PM the only cold air intakes i could find were for 285, none on ebay either any where cheaper? BlckdOutTC 05-30-2008, 01:15 AM ebay no name brand cold air runs about 50-80 bucks krazyqban352 05-30-2008, 01:42 AM true. but i dont wanna pay the money for cai when imma just use it as a sri... from wat ive seen the cai is twice as hard to install.. is the difference worth it? its not worth it KillaSpiceTSW 05-30-2008, 01:54 AM Here you can get a Shortram Intake made by Weapon R, but you will spend a pretty penny. Check it out if you want. 274.00 http://www.killertc.com/product.php?productid=16712&cat=256&page=1 KillaSpiceTSW 05-30-2008, 01:58 AM Here are a couple sites to check out for your Scion Parts: www.ssuperstore.com www.killertc.com www.sfxperformance.com www.sciongeneration.com www.fastscions.com Try one of those sites for a short ram intake, i saw a couple intakes around 50 bux on ssuperstore.com... Good Luck ChrisLilja 05-30-2008, 07:56 AM I just paid $238 shipped for my Injen CAI (Short Ram Convertable) from www.hopupracing.com athletefeet66 05-30-2008, 10:29 AM here you go... http://www.wesellcarparts.com/store/Scripts/prodList.asp?idcategory=1325&curPage=2&sortField=sku daemana 05-30-2008, 10:48 AM i'm looking for a injen cai for a 07. 285 = great pain in my wallet. athletefeet66 05-30-2008, 11:30 PM just get a cheaper one....even a freakin BOMZ off ebay would do the same thing as the injen. you are basically buying the brand name because they are all just 2.5"-3" piping with a filter on the end. the difference between each is negligible but the price difference is ridiculous. i paid like 280 for my injen and knowing what i know now i would have just bought a cheaper one because they all do the same thing. BlckdOutTC 05-31-2008, 01:28 PM ebay short ram FTW!! oscarorange 07-03-2008, 12:39 AM On my '06 and '05 XB's, the BOMZ short ram installed perfectly. It was $40 on eBay. the stock air intake hose is simply connected to the side of the engine compartment taking in the surrounding air . The Bomz sits much lower in the wheel well area below the battery where nothing but fresh air hits it. It's not a CAI, but it comes close without all the hassle. both cars have a noticeable increase in throttle response and acceleration. the idea that you would loose HP with this setup is silly. the only thing I don't like about it is that it uses a separate crankcase breather filter instead of piping it into the main pipe. 1DarkTC 07-12-2008, 01:36 AM $269 free shipping @ hopupracing.com http://www.wesellcarparts.com/store/ProdImages/kn/69-8614TS.jpg |
