Default Strup Header installed

just got my strup header on friday and got the guys over at the shop to install it for me. dont really hear any difference and i havent revved through the range to know if the power is noticable

heatsink off!

bad stock header off! the two brackets on the side that support the exhaust were a pain to remove. kinda hard to reach and it was torqued pretty high too..

new header on!

final pics..

Nice!!! I need to get me one!

Probably a dumb question, but did it change much of the exhaust note at all?

actually to my surprise and a couple of the guys at the shop's surprise, the note didnt change much... there is an even slight increase in tone throughout the rev-range. i guess it goes to show that the resonator/cat is ridiculously restrictive. anything past ~2000RPM the intake takes over and i cant really hear the exhaust tone..

wow that looks hot. is the strup pipes the same size as stock coz thats what it looks like in the pix? would the stock heat sink still fit afterward?

it might be the same diameter. it would make sense cause it would preserve low-end power. no it will not fit cause it doesnt have the bungs welded in for the heat sink to bolt in. if you want it to bolt in then you have to fabricate it. but be careful cause the metal is thin.

yup ceramic. i saw the polished on MaxBoost's xb and i didnt really like the look of it. plus when it heats up it will turn a rainbow color which really isnt my taste. the install was pretty simple. the hardest part was removing two bolts from the bracket on the side of the cat. it was in a hard-ish to reach location and the torque spec on it felt quite high. otherwise quite straight forward.

on the way to work today the car felt quite good. the pull from 55~70 felt stronger. i have yet to redline it cause the cops around here are on red-alert and are freaking everywhere...

ok, now you guys are making me a little nervous. I just got a 2008 xB2, and have already installed a TRD CAI. I bought the Strup 4-1 header, and will be having it installed soon. This is all so NEW to me, so you're saying I'm likely to have problems with the one that came with the Strup header?

everyone that installs a header on the 2.4L engine whether its on the tC or the new xB will have to install a anti fouler on the second o2 sensor which resides on the s-pipe. this is because your removing the first cat
