I'm on a wait list for an xD and I'm thinking about installing the following factory XM receiver myself: http://www.trdsparks.com/displayparts.php?Mdl_dtl=586&Part_cat=25&parts_id=1035

It's my understanding that if I have the dealer install the receiver they will put it under one of the front seats (probably the passenger side).

1st) Has anyone done this?

2nd) Do you know if the standard roof mounted antenna is the same antenna that is used for XM reception?

3rd) Do you know if either the head unit or antenna wires are pre-run to either of the front seat areas?

Thanks.

1) I have the Sirius option in my car currently

2) The standard antenna is not the satellite receiver.

3) When they installed my satellite receiver they placed it right behind the stubby, normal antenna. [edit] I have covered up the base of my stubby antenna by the fin. Forgot to mention that!

Here's a good picture of where they placed the factory receiver on my xD. Sorry for the big picture.

ChelsDS,

Thanks for the info.

I'm glad you posted that picture. When I spoke with Crutchfield today, the guy suggested that I center mount the antenna at the front of the car. I can see that they used the rear hatch opening to run the wire.

Do you have the oem equipment and where did they place the tuner/receiver?

No. It's going through my stock headunit. I only know where they placed the receiver.
