those w/ Rota Grids should have their own thread so they don't have to waste valuable server space. I'm sorry but I feel like Grids is cheating. Looks as if tCs are becoming the new soobis w/ their love for Rotas...

I went over to the suby forum looking for some decent wheels, and seriously they are all Rotas. Lots of SRT4 guys run them too.

Which to me is fine, I don't really care i'm no quality expensive wheel whore as long as they look good. But the offsets most of the suby guys run suck.

Anyway yea, x2 on alot of suby guys loving Rotas. But they are indeed sick looking though

theoretically a lower offset would hit the strut than a higher strut. you may run into issues with the fender though

Why do you need the camber kit in the back? Reason I ask is you can probably get -3degrees of camber pretty easily.

Im already at 2.5* of camber in the rear already. I wanted it to be able to adjust camber, I don't plan on keeping these wheels very long, so I want to be able to adjust camber with what wheels im using.

low offset wheels, not high

tucking is passé for vw's. they moved on to poke (wheels so wide its hard to tuck them. rather let them "poke" out past the fender. best done with 10"+ wide wheels)

BlkTC
05-22-2009, 03:45 PM
what makes VW/Audi cars so much more capable than our cars of doing stuff like stretching tires and tucking?

just because they've done it long before us? Our cars just barely came out and something new has been tried on our cars every day.

and x2 to what won had to say..

HKSpeed
05-22-2009, 06:11 PM
there's a big debate in the Evo and WRX community about low offset wheels and stretched tires. some argue that set up is worth the decrease in performance since it looks nice. others argue these cars are so performance engineered, that low offsets and stretching doesnt belong. this reminds me of the debate between truck owners: some say trucks should be modified for off-road driving, while others like them slammed for strictly street cruising.

unlike evo and sti owners, most vw guys favor looks over hard-core performance. my old VW buddy said it best back when the Neon SRT4 first came out, "I'd rather drive a slow-asss dub, than a fast-asss Neon"

also, VW's come with wider fenders than any other fwd sold in america. so they can be very aggressive with wheel fitment. hondas and mazdas are the opposite.

I didnt drive on them, the 452s aren't good tires when its cold out, especially rain. I had goodyear F1 A/S before on my stock wheels and MB weapon's but the S-drives are quieter and a much better tire for the price, they tend to run a little wider then most tires, thats what im running on my s4 also in a 205/40/18 on a 9.5 and this is the stretch http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f286/vr_sex/DSC00367-1.jpg

how did you find tires for an 18 in 205? i've been looking everywhere but it seems like 205's on 18's are illegal because of some safety hazard. let me know please. :D

Ebay. Search "205 40 18" and you'll find several Toyos, Nittos, and Nankangs.

This looks like a good deal locally. When i was looking for 215/40/18s I emailed the seller, who offerred me a better deal if I came to his store (not using Ebay) and paid cash.

-3.4 was what i got with my stock camber.

shinjitai

sounds good. Are you guys slammed? So if you can get -3.4 and the hotchkis says it can give you 0-3 degrees of - camber. Does that mean it can go to around -6?
