Uyles 11-21-2010, 09:04 PM once it's lower it'll be tits, stretch always looks super weird on a car when you can see the top of the tire.
Spoony 11-21-2010, 09:23 PM Needs camber. Looks good, but I'd powercoat them another color that'll go well with your car.
Alvie 11-21-2010, 09:30 PM Powercoat them in Hot pink!
FF!!!Monster 11-21-2010, 10:41 PM Yes! hot pink!

Needs camber. Looks good, but I'd powercoat them another color that'll go well with your car.
ya i know. just a little tho, imo i love the way it sits right now.
Powercoat them in Hot pink!
Yes! hot pink!
hot pink is too loud for my taste lol but its a thought in the future.
scion_jon 11-21-2010, 11:24 PM I need some help guys.
I want or should say need to get my rear fenders rolled. I called around and was quoted anywhere from 500-800 $$$ to have them rolled. I know thats total BS.
what can I do?

Alvie 11-21-2010, 11:36 PM Scion Jon - Go to craigslist and type "fender rolling".
09SocalTC 11-21-2010, 11:52 PM ajames1208 your front fenders are gonna get destroyed, if you don't get lower profile tires.

ajames1208 your front fenders are gonna get destroyed, if you don't get lower profile tires.
thats what i thought also, though my friend who rolled my fenders pulled it far enough for it to clear. but if anything i will change it in the near future.
HKSpeed 11-22-2010, 12:42 AM whats the tires size and wheel width? even though you got a nice stretch, the sidewalls look tall.
turd.ferguson 11-22-2010, 01:11 AM im diggin the wheels ajames... but id rather see the tc sittin lower with less poke.
Do you think people that have no idea about "stance" just see a car like that and think, "That dude must've got a good deal on them rims, cause they dont even fit right on his car."... when in actuality...people dump SO much $ into lookin "wrong".

That pricing is for the rears only?!? Forget that, they sure are putting a premium on that fender roller. I found a place that does $50 a corner, just have to make a long drive. I could borrow one from a friend and do it myself but I'm still paying on the car and haven't done it before(doesn't make sense that I still want it done though lol). Might have to drive a good distance to get it done. Like on said, search on CL for fender rolling, might find someone who does it for a good price.
ajames1208, like how the tires get treated well too, with the mats placed under them lol. A bit much wheel poke for me, look forward to more updates.
Jasper Ash 11-22-2010, 04:18 AM ^ I kind of agree with Turd. Too much for me, but I can most definitely appreciate the work that goes into a really aggressive stance.
FF!!!Monster 11-22-2010, 04:35 AM wow. i guess i got lucky. theres a reputable shop here in jacksonville that does $50 for the fronts OR rears, or $80 for all 4 corners.

Lmao! Haha something like that happened. The real story was when we were at a Mountain Run Cruise, the roads were being repaved and the protruding center markers caught on and ripped it off. Got it on camera. Lol

Im a little scared to take out a perch bro. Doesn't seem very safe, you know? 35 series? I like being low and all but i hear ride quality is completely gone after going lower than a 40 series. Anyways your ca is looking good bro.
And to the other guy, specs are 17x9 et17

Im getting a Set of Rota Torques 18x9.5 et35 with Federal 225/40/18 and Im gonna be lowered on Raceland Coilovers
Do i have to roll my fenders or no?
How hard is to roll fenders? any DIY?
yellowxhoodie 11-25-2010, 10:15 PM i dont understand why people ask if they will rub when they are on coilovers...
everyone has their coilovers set up diff. If you have them low, yes youll rub.
google "roll fenders" you will find a plethora of info.
Spoony 11-25-2010, 10:16 PM ^ Yes, you do. I would recommend you take it to someone who has experience.

so u mean i dont have to roll fenders if i have coilovers
^ Yes, you do. I would recommend you take it to someone who has experience.
thanks.
is it expensive to do it?
How far you lower the car will dictate if you have to roll your fenders. But you don't have to.
yellowxhoodie 11-25-2010, 10:52 PM no.
coilovers are adjustable...
fender rolling necessity would depend on ride height.
nylitc 11-25-2010, 10:55 PM that was the answer i was looking at.
thank you very much
i will go as low as i can so i dont roll fenders.
one more question.
a 35 offset will deff poke out right
Normally I'd say search, but I'm bored.

yellowxhoodie 11-25-2010, 11:00 PM Just read this thread.
Theres plenty of people who are running the exact same rims.
And even more people whoe are running exact or very similar spec rims.
Dilirious 11-25-2010, 11:01 PM ^ yes and no to poke,it will depend on two things your camber and your ride height .
nylitc 11-25-2010, 11:05 PM i like the way jon has it.
what r u lowered on?
thanks guys and im really sorry if im being an idiot

How hard is to roll fenders? any DIY?
1. Do you own a heat gun?
2. Do you own a base ball bat?
3. Do you mind cutting off tabs/clips/bolts
its really not that hard, you can also use a phone book.

3) No
Phone book????
also do i need a camber kit?
Dilirious 11-25-2010, 11:25 PM the stock camber has enough play till -4
so you should be fine
nylitc 11-25-2010, 11:27 PM so front and rear has to be -4
i like the way jon has it.
what r u lowered on?
thanks guys and im really sorry if im being an idiot
I'm on Hotchkis springs. About a 2" drop from stock but I think mine have settled down to about a 2.25" drop.
so front and rear has to be -4
The front isn't adjustable much without camber bolts. The rear won't have to be at -4. -2 should be enough. Mine was at -0.8 or close to that and only rubbed on dips/sharp turns.
FF!!!Monster 11-26-2010, 02:34 AM Normally I'd say search, but I'm bored.

Wait. This is on Hotchkis? That looks like a coilover drop! Is this the same setup from the pics earlier in the thread?
Yep. I got a weird set of springs. Don't look at mine and think if you order a set it will be the same because it probably won't lol.
On stock wheels:

09SocalTC 12-04-2010, 09:37 AM I actually wanna sell it, AAA didn't want to tow me the other day, because my car was "high risk"...but they thought driving on 3 lugs was less high risk. That ended up almost killing me, because with in 10 miles of driving on the freeway I snapped two wheel studs, driving on 1 wheel studs was the most sketchy thing ever. I was screaming "HOLYMOTHER____ING____IM GOING TO DIE!" Slammed on the brakes at 55...stuck right in the middle of 101 freeway.
Ohhhhh and some one bashed out my passenger window tonight, good thing i keep my laptop and camera equipment in my trunk...____ing fools didn't even see my ipod or 20 bucks in the center console.

i can see that im not blind. im sayin that if he would of had the stock single exhaust hole filled and then cut a new center out it would look pretty legit, but who knows maybe he is gonna build a legit rear diffusor.

Skeeeett 12-06-2010, 08:01 PM thanks for the idea about the rear bumper..but main reason why i didnt fill the whole and than cut out the center for it was because the XB2 RS Murasaki(i think i butchered the name) has it that same way and i didnt want it that way

At least you're OK and nothing else happened. I know it sucks that the wheel is messed up, but at least you can get a new one quickly. Now if it was a more expensive wheel(3 piece can be taken care of easier, but one that's one piece or 2 piece welded...), ouch.

make one up man, the worst that can happen is the mods will lock it. But just expect the same ____ to happen unless you have a willing mod that will clean it up.
but that car doesnt even look like it is on trd springs!
09SocalTC 12-12-2010, 05:08 AM yeah I'm not hating on his ride, but it seems that everyones perception has changed about "aggressive fitment" it ties into the stanced category.
dropzone 12-12-2010, 05:25 AM DJ08tC, you're right, if there is a mod that would clean up the thread for cars that don't fit into the prerequisites then I wouldnt have an issue making the thread. Even then I'm far from getting my car looking how I want it stance wise, my coilovers are at the mercy of customs; and wheels, well it'll be a while on that(running out of funds). It wouldn't look right having the topic starter and mod of the thread to not have their car be an example of what is sought after.

Honestly I would give it a day before someone comes in and ignores the rules and tries to give some BS about not being specific enough :P happened with the high-end wheel thread a few times..
Once upon a time, one tC owner (Shin) decided to get 18x9.5 et38 Grids. A year later, 20+ people decided to follow in his path, sad but true.
I should probably make a list for giggles.
dropzone 12-12-2010, 07:29 AM That's why we'll discuss here a plan for the thread and go from there lol. If it's decided to make a new stanced/flush thread.
Definitely NO wheel gap is a must, wheel flushness has to be achieved(either by wheel sizing or spacers). Of course like you said it's subjective, but if it's obvious the wheels are sunk(even after spacers lol), don't dare post.
XIEmperorIX 12-12-2010, 04:15 PM maybe just start a WFC thread?
Alvie 12-12-2010, 04:39 PM I have a 1.8" and its definitely way lower than that. No finger gap on the rear and a pinky can barely fit on the front.

lololol i haz grids?
at least you painted them or got them in white. These goofs decide to get the same color as him
BlkTC 12-12-2010, 07:34 PM lol, its only true
Uyles 12-12-2010, 08:31 PM yeah, a ton of people have them. to be honest for the most part i have yet to really see a setup like mine in person, and even on the internet. it looks pretty good, so at this point i don't care. i'm not really going to say that i've had them longer than most of these people or defend the real-ness of my wheels, because once again, i don't care and they're fake.
there's only so many wheel and color choices. there's bound to be duplicates, especially if it looks good.
don't get me wrong, if i had the cash, i'd be changing wheel setups all the time. however, college "festivities" take away a lot of modding money, as does a lack of a job.
ROTA GRIDS ARE WHEELS TOO OKAY?!
DPT852 12-12-2010, 09:20 PM don't get me wrong, if i had the cash, i'd be changing wheel setups all the time. however, college "festivities" take away a lot of modding money, as does a lack of a job.
I'd trade my wheels for beer money any day. It's what college is all about lol
BlkTC 12-12-2010, 09:26 PM uyles: lol im just sayin.. there's a lot of ppl with grids.. as a non-grid owner, it gets kinda boring.. hahaha nothing personal man.. js sayin
once in a while, when you get those legit baller wheels with phenomenal fitment, it just tastes that much better. :D
once again, to all you grid owners, it's nothing personal..
DPT852 12-12-2010, 09:29 PM I think Uyles car look f'in amazing, classy as hell, which is what I like. To me even if a wheel is super common and played to hell if it's pulled off right it still looks just as good as if it wasnt. imho
Uyles 12-12-2010, 10:39 PM nah blk i know it's not personal, i don't blame you for being bored at seeing like 20 tc's with grids, and realizing that like at least half of those tc's are probably rocking the black/gold color combo.
you're right, when i see a car with legit wheels and awesome fitment next to a car with fake wheels and awesome fitment, i generally have more respect for the car with the legit wheels because they put a lot of money into that to get it how it sits.
and DPT, that's also my position as well. i think if a car can make something look good - whether it be common/uncommon, real/fake, or unique/played - more power to the car owner (thanks for using my car as an example, haha).
generally the only thing that having "fake" wheels such as Grids does is save you money. it's still possible to put just as much work into a car with "fake wheels" as others with "real wheels". i can attest to that, as i've had personal experience.
at the end of the day, it really comes down to the car owner and their life. it's a combination of planning, time, and money (in order of importance). without those three things, you generally can't make a "show worthy" car such as e-famous tc's like Blk's, Shin's, Flip's, Rib's, Socal's, and pretty much every other car most tc enthusiasts look(ed) up to.
it helps to be open minded.
with that being said, 4x4's should get the ____ out of this thread, 'cause we like stance and not dirt jumping and ____.

dropzone 12-13-2010, 04:09 AM The only people who shine in the stanced community, are the ones with deep pockets...
Not necessarily, if you can catch a good deal on the stuff you buy, whether through homie hookup, "I have to sell these soon cuz I'm leaving the country or whatever" type deal, discounted from a vendor, then deep pockets isn't exactly needed. There's also sponsorships, but all I would really want/need is tires though. It's playing it smart, doing your research, networking and getting connections. I'm lacking in networking and connections which is why I pretty much pay retail for most of the things I buy.
I'm late to checking out this note posted on Fatlace...
http://fatlace.com/slammedsociety/reps-or-real/
At least they came to a conclusion of car selection and how they are featured. I still find it all iffy, when Volk released the Seibon edition wheel, I think they ____ed up right there, as Seibon has copied some higher end aero, main example that gets posted is the CF hood by Voltex for the Evo(8, 9?).

honestly, i think the biggest bull____ reasoning in this scene today is the fact that people shy away from doing something just because someone else has already done something similar. so what that there's another tC on titanium chrome Grids? if that's what you like, ____ing buy those wheels and try to top the person that did it. if you top the person that did it, they're going to try to top you right back. friendly competition is what keeps ____ alive.
don't just look at all these expensive wheels because people will "respect you more". honestly, if you're going to respect someone based off of the amount of money they're willing to spend on something, that's crap. do you really think a large amount of people respect the women that buy $100,000 worth of plastic surgery to be what society would call "attractive"? i highly doubt it.
respect should be given based on the time you spend on it, the attention you give to details, your intelligence on the subject, and your overall plan and if it was executed well. respect shouldn't be given based on the fact that someone spent $3,000 more than the other person. at the end of the day, those $3,000 18x9.5 +38 wheels are going to require the same amount of work to fit on my car as the $1,000 18x9.5 +38 wheels are, and if you yourself put in the time and effort, you should be rewarded with respect.
if someone buys $4,000 wheels and has no true knowledge of fitment, has someone else do all the hard labor for them, and does no research, are you going to respect them? once again, i highly doubt it. there's a reason a lot of people tell the noobs to "search" on forums. we all took the time and did the work ourselves, and you should too. in the end it's really a favor, because it's more rewarding that way.
don't strive for orignality because you think it'll for some reason make you "better" than someone else who "jocked someone elses style". the desire to be more unique than other people isn't really a unique idea. don't fall into that strand of thinking because then you yourself are going to be everything you're trying to stay away from. as far as stance goes, we're all trying to do one thing: get from point A to point B, and look good doing it. most of us buy clothes to look good. those clothes can be from the thrift store or from Louis Vuitton, but if you look good, no one is really going to judge you.
this is all regarding wheel choice. i'm not telling everyone to go clone someone's style, i'm telling people to find a style you enjoy, and tweak it to your liking. that's really how most people live their lives, even if it's subconsciously. think about it.
dropzone this quote was the most easily accessible/recent, so i just used it as an example. it's not personal attack on you at all, so don't trip. haha. even if i'm just misinterpreting what you said, my point still stands. alright cool.

LMAO, I've been wanting to use that for a moment
There is no offense taken at all here. Of course only one person can get ____ first, but to make it look good(speaking of wheel choice), someone will strive to make it fit better/best in fitment. Are you trying to convince me to get Grids? lol
Uyles 12-13-2010, 05:24 AM hahaha, no i'm not really trying to convince you, dropzone. that TLDR paragraph was basically just directed at everyone, you just happened to be quoted. it's a more logical approach to that kind of ____ i guess.
i don't know, i've been studying/writing all day, i'm just in that mood. ____ finals. hahaha.
but yes, clearly:

09SocalTC 12-13-2010, 04:57 PM Rotas
http://custompinoyrides.com/2010/10/rota-and-illest-dont-match-no-more/
^Retarded argument is retarded. I like how in Fatlace's response, they point to Rotiform for being original, yet the BLQ is a rep of the OEM Gallardo LP560-4 wheel.
http://i54.tinypic.com/16knaec.jpg
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2778/4118298276_9d17a1dc38_b.jpg
DPT852 12-13-2010, 06:19 PM IMHO just respect cars that are done right. Sure real wheels would help make it just a little bit more awesome, but if it's done right as far as fitment goes, its done right.
09SocalTC 12-13-2010, 06:25 PM I just hate people who got that mad JDM Ego, and say everyone is jockin them...
Spoony 12-13-2010, 06:33 PM USDM Ego, brochacho!
09SocalTC 12-13-2010, 07:56 PM But once I drop 3k on some metal, and rubber my attitude might change :P
dropzone 12-13-2010, 08:19 PM ^The Rotiform and Gallardo wheel dispute was brought up in the SW forum IIRC. I don't know what to say...
There's supposedly another thread before this was started discussing the wheel http://www.stanceworks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12637
Now I'm not hating on Rotiform, they do make nice wheels. However the people attempting to defend them couldn't make a logical argument to save their lives.
In my opinion, Rotiforms arent exactly replicas, because they took a design, and made it their own, and since it has evolved into so much more. When have you ever seen a 'Rep' company such as rota or axis do that?
Now correct me if I'm wrong, but is this not exactly the case with Rota? Grids have more concavity than TEs and a greater curve where the spoke meets the barrel. Torques have more concavity and thinner spokes than Kais. I'm just speaking about the design here, not the manufacturing process or materials used.
Spoony 12-13-2010, 08:36 PM Yeah, they're not exact measurements. Just a ripped design.
dropzone 12-13-2010, 08:52 PM Just like Wald Duchatlet, Work Euroline, SSR Vienna Dish, Insurance Group, Leon Hardiritt and other higher end wheel manufacturers have this similar full faced wheel...
http://www.d2autosport.com/D2_2006/06_Wheels/wheels/works/WORK%20EUROLINE%20DH.jpg
http://hlh.com.my/wp-content/gallery/rims/VIENNA%20DISH-EV.jpg
I don't see anyone calling them out as one being rep of another.
HKSpeed 12-13-2010, 09:30 PM its not about whats a rep or not. its about who makes the rep. If Work or SSR made a forged copy of a Volk Racing wheel (or vice versa), nobody (well almost) would think twice about rocking them. if a company with questionable engineering and manufacturing quality makes a rep, then its hated on.
same thing applies to fashion. $200 designer jeans all get the same respect even though they all more-or-less look the same.
Uyles 12-13-2010, 09:35 PM in order to really debate this whole topic, you really just need to understand economics and have some logic.
that's pretty much the bottom line, as it is with most debates. if you understand the big picture and can present it logically, you're chillin'. it's obviously not as effective over the internet, but it's pretty much the only place that this happens so eh.
and to HKSpeed's point on fashion...he's right. the whole entire "stance" industry can basically be compared in every way to the fashion industry, because in the end of the day, we're mostly doing it to look fly.
Skeeeett 12-14-2010, 12:05 AM jeeez so much ruckus going on in this forumn wth! lol...wheels are wheels point done ____ lol they look, good rock them who gives a fudge what they are! lmao
