tC-S08 04-09-2011, 02:48 AM Whats your camber at now? I would say throw 17mm and maybe go 1degree positive or leave it like that and throw the spacer

R3strict3d1 04-10-2011, 11:59 AM So im new on here hoping to find/learn some useful info. Im dropped on Tein Suspension 1.5" drop front & 1" drop rear.I want to buy some rims but not sure what specs i should look for.i want my ride to look aggressive but i dnt want rubbing on turns ect.Can some1 help me?? Also any1 recommend what rims i should get for a Flint Mica TC??
MooSE55 04-10-2011, 01:19 PM Ur goinf to need some new suspension first..than get a 9inch + wide wheel with as low an offset u can find..ur going to have to roll ur fenders and deal with rubbing sometimes..not goinf to get very aggressive with a 1inch drop
stinkysab 04-10-2011, 05:42 PM Jona jay, i love your front lip! It sags so much. Did you modify it to be so low?
So jealous...:(

Tom11x 04-11-2011, 02:01 AM just took it off. went lower about 1/2in
looks alot better thanks to filpmoob and rrimportracer
Tom11x 04-11-2011, 02:02 AM need to wait for springs to settle down ill take more pics tomorrow
dropzone 04-11-2011, 02:37 AM ^What springs did you get?? Just installed my B&G coilovers and the fronts can def slam(has an adjustment range of 4+"); now the rears, not even tucked(and that's set as low as I could, bottoming out the lower body), I do have about a 1/2 inch of thread between the spring perches and the lower body collar. Currently am riding reverse rake status(about 1/2" height variance from front to back) as it's now getting late and tired of making adjustments for today.
mystik 04-11-2011, 04:06 AM ^
i have somewhat of the same problem, the fronts will slam, but my backs can tuck just a bit of tire when maxed out on my B&G's...i see some people almost tucking rim and stuff and makes me wonder what im doing wrong...not like i wanna go that low anyways haha :P
Tom11x 04-11-2011, 04:28 AM im on raceland. i believe almost two years now. when the first group started.

People remove the perch rings on the rears.

hey dz I installed mine as well about 2 days ago, and just like you and mystik the fronts can slam but the rears just aren't quite low enough for my liking, and I know that others have removed perches and such to get their rears to slam , I'm still debating if I want to do that or not, which I'm not really against but I have to consider other factors, I mean don't get me wrong I knew that this was the decision I would have to make eventually but i'm stuck at the moment as to what I will do, what are you guys going to do about your rear setups are you just going to bite the bullet and remove some perches?
dropzone 04-11-2011, 05:05 AM ^I have 1/2" of thread to play with before I get all the rings to get to the lower body, which will leave me with no preload on the spring, then taking off rings will def start reducing shock travel. The ride how it is now is just so good, dare I risk that?
EDIT: I think we should move this to here... http://scionlife.com/forums/showthread.php?t=201213
DPT852 04-11-2011, 05:10 AM Solution: remove perches/lockrings, spin coils alll the way down, spin shock body to lowest setting...

jono06tc 04-11-2011, 07:57 PM How bad is everyone camber (ware/wear?) how fast are you going through tires mile-wise?
tC-S08 04-11-2011, 09:13 PM That Mazda is HellaDope!! As far as me I've been running like -1 F & -3.16 R since January when I got my new tires and alignment and my tires are still good and I usually drive 100+ miles a day, just rotate tires I usually do it every 3k miles and when there wearing out before they get pretty worn have your tires flipped/ turned to get more life out of then and your good
Hayseed 04-11-2011, 09:31 PM Yeah exactly^
You're not gonna get like 30k out of your tires. Thats why a lot of guys who run massive camber often really cheap out on tires
yellowxhoodie 04-11-2011, 11:23 PM Having your toe within spec is more important than camber
Hayseed 04-11-2011, 11:26 PM Yeah Toe is important. It makes for even camber wear versus a really bad uneven wear with out of spec toe.
Really curious about this concept. Could do tremendous things for the stance scene:

09SocalTC 04-12-2011, 12:26 AM Having your toe within spec is more important than camber

Hayseed 04-12-2011, 02:49 AM Buy sushi's wheels jon!
I would, but all this effort I've put into the Equips I need to rock them at least for a little while.
Hayseed 04-12-2011, 03:26 AM Yeah I know. I wish I had $1200 to blow and that they were 18x9+... Then I'd consider them. You almost done with the works?
yellowxhoodie 04-12-2011, 03:26 AM THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING!...but SpicyMcTrollinz thinks otherwise....
having your toe in spec doesnt mean you can run 3454982 degrees of camber with no ill consequences though. The tires will still wear faster than they would if all your specs were within OEM standard, but not as fast as having wack camber and toe specs.
DeAnzaJig 04-12-2011, 03:39 AM tein s techs - 215/45/17 - 25mm spacers....still not all the poke i want :(
http://i51.tinypic.com/35l4siu.jpg
Jasper Ash 04-12-2011, 03:40 AM Yeah, but camber wear isn't as bad as people make it seem. I can easily get a year or more out of my tires at -4*
yellowxhoodie 04-12-2011, 03:49 AM depending on what kind of tires they are and how much you drive a year, thats not very long. haha
Bamapolar 04-12-2011, 03:59 AM wow, almost 8000 posts.
is there any way to just look at pics on this thread and weed out all this bull garbage ranting and raving? I guess I could use Google Image Search, searching only this site.
I didn't see that option on the SL search
Thanks
Dennis
Jasper Ash 04-12-2011, 04:29 AM depending on what kind of tires they are and how much you drive a year, thats not very long. haha
Lol. I was happy with it. Considering I expected to go through tires every six months after hearing how bad camber wear is. My stock tires still have about 30% tread left.
jono06tc 04-12-2011, 04:30 AM Thanks guys. I cant wait to finish my wheels!
Yeah I know. I wish I had $1200 to blow and that they were 18x9+... Then I'd consider them. You almost done with the works?
Yeah I'm dropping in the bolts tomorrow and hand tightening them. They'll get properly torqued and the wheels sealed up on Wednesday. Adapters and camber bolts are on the way.

Jasper Ash 04-12-2011, 07:42 PM I immensely respect everyone who stanced out their tC, or any car for that matter. This sh*t takes more work than a lot of people think, including myself. I just spent the past three hours trying to fit my 17mm spacers. It rubs sooooo bad. So they came off until I can find the time to max out the rear camber. Or get rid of these fat a** tires. However, I did lower the car about 1/2". :)

Amen. I didnt realize how much work would be involved. I cant wait for how much work will be involved when I go 0 offset.
davedavetC 04-12-2011, 07:51 PM lol its not work its fun!
Jasper Ash 04-12-2011, 08:12 PM Yeah maybe if I had a garage and all the necessary tools. Instead I drive to my parents place and use their beat up driveway with sh*t for tools, no coverage from the sun, at 93 degrees.

mystik 04-15-2011, 02:31 AM any of you wheel fitment pros know if a 18x8.5 et+15 for a front wheel would fit nicely? by nice i mean flush possibly very little poke...im running about -1.5° camber up front and im slammed...maxed out on B&G's...so im wondering if the wheel is gonna hit my fender if i get a +15 offset. i know more camber will make it work for sure, but im not trying to ruin my tires too fast...lol
Hayseed 04-15-2011, 02:36 AM http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5260/5565430541_439a334f8e_b.jpg
Here's 17x9 +17... Not 18's, but this gives you the idea of the poke. I'm at -1.5* camber.
Spoony 04-15-2011, 03:27 AM Using Hayseed's specs, 8.5 +15 would be 4mm less poke.
If you're not rolled, you'll rub.
mystik 04-16-2011, 01:37 AM woot woot thanks for your help guys! yeah im not rolled yet, but ill probably get to doing it real soon.
mrhat 04-16-2011, 06:08 AM picked up my rota torques, going to see how they look with 5mm spacers and see if i need more. accidently had one drop on its face and got a scratch though:/
tC-S08 04-16-2011, 06:29 AM Same thing happened to me on my last set of rims it slipped of my hand as I was about to pick it up and put in on the hub and landed rite on the face and scratched all around the lip I was ____ed cause I was always careful with my rims never hit curbs or anything but it ended up scratching by a mistake a made.
mrhat 04-16-2011, 07:42 AM you can only see it if you get up on it, most of it was saved by the door mat and im not about to get ghetto and do the diy fixes for curb rash, even though one has some on it, can't you just take it to a shop or something
tC-S08 04-16-2011, 07:55 AM Yea there's shops that can repair rims, but if it's not necessary or even noticeable y bother, plus if ur running stretched tires ur lips are going to have scratches/dings from being exposed so no biggie....
Spoony 04-16-2011, 06:52 PM Since they're torques, don't bother.
I had some rash on the barrel on one of my Double X's because of someone, that will remain nameless, dropped them on their face... but Wheel Revivers in SD fixed it; came out like new.
mrhat 04-16-2011, 11:03 PM ya I drive horrible so ill probably add some to it. I pulled my back so no wheel change..which sucks.
Spoony 04-17-2011, 12:09 AM Sucks looking out for the wheels, but it's fun making them fit.
mrhat 04-17-2011, 02:49 AM ya, I pulled my back this morning so my stepdad went out and put the rims on when I was all jacked up on meds. I'll have to start looking for spacers though but man these look nice, I am scraping now though.
jaewrek 04-17-2011, 04:41 AM curb rash? what's that? i have fender rash... =P
dropzone 04-17-2011, 05:06 AM ^I've seen that, and that's what has me wanting to get another set of front fenders to mess with before getting a wider set of wheels, I have the "low"covered, now need to work on "wide". wild1413 04-19-2011, 04:03 PM jasper just push the backs out a little more and it will look so much better.
Jasper Ash 04-19-2011, 04:10 PM I have 17mm spacers than I tried to for but the fenders were literally sitting on the tire. I need to either max out the rear camber or run different tires.
midnight_blue 04-19-2011, 04:19 PM what size tires you have?
Jasper Ash 04-19-2011, 06:45 PM 225/40 R18 on 9.5" wheel
davedavetC 04-19-2011, 10:21 PM yea you need smaller tires, id go with either 225.35 or 215.35
johnnyb305mia 04-19-2011, 11:17 PM I think a 35 series tire will solve alot
Sent From My Evo
tC-S08 04-19-2011, 11:31 PM I say 215/40 if not then go 225/35, someone should start a new thread for cars that are aggressively stanced, were it's strictly just pictures!! and post info like-wheel spec, tire size, suspension ect, no comments or questions allowed if so just post here
Spoony 04-19-2011, 11:35 PM 225/40 R18 on 9.5" wheel
215/40. Good stretch and still enough tire.
Jasper Ash 04-19-2011, 11:49 PM I'm leaning towards 225/35 or 215/40. My buddy with the slammed GS has 225/35 Achilles on 9.5" and it's pretty damn stretched. It sucks because I'm not even all that low and I rub quite a bit. It's embarrassing lol.
chicotunner07 04-20-2011, 12:42 AM ^its your tires!
the pics of the 512's you posted looked alot better then the nittos, lol
by my specs, your 17mm spacers should be perfect with 2.5-3* of camber
with my 15mm spacer w -2.5 camber, the lip of the rim comes a hair (literally i cant stick a thick piece of paper) of the fender when suspension is fully compressed.
Jasper Ash 04-20-2011, 01:34 AM I still have the 512's. I'd like to just sell them and pick up a smaller size. I'm at -2.8* in the right rear and it looks like this with the 17mm spacer on. As you can see, the tire is literally sitting on the bumper pushing it out from the fender.
http://i750.photobucket.com/albums/xx143/Jasperashmusic/f7654ab6.jpg
Maybe I can just run more camber and shave more of the bumper?
mmmpshh 04-20-2011, 01:41 AM f it, jus ride like tht.... static. lol
chicotunner07 04-20-2011, 02:37 AM dude, if you wanna swing by my crib, ill make that ish work, lol i basically shaved/hammered til it was perfect.
if you wanna sell the 512s, lemme know, i need tires, lol
and i thought you had nittos?
chicotunner07 04-20-2011, 02:38 AM the reason why its sitting on your bumper is because the bumper has to be shaved too.
Jasper Ash 04-20-2011, 02:55 AM Yeah Chico, I wanna sell the 512s. I'm currently on Nittos. The 512s are just sitting in storage, brand new. Buy them. :)
I shaved the rear bumper, but obviously not enough. But I think I'm gonna have to swing by your place. I could use the help.

Do these tC's run into a log of neg camber issues going so low?
Yea most aggressive tC set up's are running neg camber on the fronts and rears. Plus a lot of fender work and stretched tires.
Jasper Ash 04-20-2011, 08:34 PM A gs was one of the cars I always wanted :O next to a supra.

On a side note, there was a Trans-Am at the BBQ with a 2J swap and S2K seats. Coolest thing I've seen in a while. I bet it would make F-Body purist turn in their graves. Hahaha (Pics of it are on my blog. /shamless plug)
ryanjboutin 04-20-2011, 09:15 PM Yea most aggressive tC set up's are running neg camber on the fronts and rears. Plus a lot of fender work and stretched tires.
Wasn't sure if the camber was a side effect from lowering or if it was intentional to fit larger wheels after a drop.
My truck has -3 up front as a side effect.
dropzone 04-20-2011, 09:38 PM The lower the drop the more negative camber develops, it's natural because of the suspension setup.

I would do it. But I have torques too so I might be bias. haha. I don't really like most BBS on a tC, they look better on an xB. Some tCs have pulled it off nice though. Just my opinion though.
Plus you dont have to buy adapters for them. Maybe some spacers if you want it more aggressive.

LOVE THEM SO MUCH! I highly recommend buying rims from Wes. They were the condition he advertised them at. The rear tires at the time concerned me a bit so I bought new tires for the rears. Since then, I have been getting some attention at school as students walk by to comment on them.
I look around on this forum everday and love the tight-knit community here. The reason why I don't really post is because I find my answer using the search function. This time I just had to post. :P

Jasper Ash 04-26-2011, 04:14 AM What do you guys do to keep the front bumper and front fenders fitted correctly after a pull? My front fenders are pulled out about 1/2 inch and my bumpers are sitting in and not only does it look bad, it rubs like a motherfuuuu. I tried zip ties but it isn't quite working for me.
domoboiz 04-26-2011, 08:25 AM didn't do any thing just a hand pull and bent the bumper tab up just so it don't touch the tire. and specs on wheels are 18x9.5 et +30 front and the rear is rolled and pulled wheels are 18x9.5 et +10 has a 20mm spacer .
Jasper Ash 04-26-2011, 03:14 PM ^ I cut the bumper tab out and bent the fender tab back out of the way. Now that they're not connected the bumper is just sitting wherever it wants.
Irishguy0224 04-26-2011, 03:37 PM What are you guys using to roll your fenders? and are you running camber in the front? I'm having trouble grasping how to get lower on my coils. I still have like 15-20 threads left on my racelands in the front on my 18x8 et 35 with 225/40/18
jeremydoc 04-26-2011, 06:31 PM Yup May, I need that dremel haha.
yeah forsure, ill bring it. what do u need to cut off?
Jasper Ash 04-26-2011, 11:46 PM Irish guy, you'll be okay if you drop the coilovers all the way down. You will rub on the fender liners a bit but a roll wouldn't hurt.
Try to find someone with an eastwood roller. Search that in craigslist too, some shops do it.
midnight_blue 04-27-2011, 03:30 AM im still rolling on my winter rims which are 18x8 40, 225 40 18 and 1 thread left on racelands no rub, just have to take out the front fenderliners and push in the front bumper tab.
Jasper Ash 04-27-2011, 03:42 AM ^ For anyone on similar specs: 18x9.5 +38. I did some more work today. Again, couldn't get the 17mm spacers on the rear. One of the recesses on the Enkeis is keeping me from fitting it correctly. I just need to cut a stud and run more stretch.
CleanFMtC 04-27-2011, 04:42 AM Jasper, just get slip ons and extended studs. Cutting them isnt really safe even tho a lot of people do it. Or get a set of 25mm bolt ons because those will completely cover the stud.
dropzone 04-27-2011, 04:46 AM ^x2 Slip-on spacer w/extended studs. If the grind fix is being done for just one wheel then when it's time for going back to running without spacer he'll have to replace with a new wheel stud anyway.
CleanFMtC 04-27-2011, 04:52 AM Yuppp! Plus new studs are like 75 bucks at the most?
dropzone 04-27-2011, 04:55 AM ^Maybe for some ARP or uber JDM ones lol. Ichiba sells extended for 2.49 each.
A set of 5 extended ARP studs...

Hayseed 04-27-2011, 05:01 AM Here boys and girls, is a grrrrreat example of thinking you can align your toe correctly:http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5028/5659852307_958cafc9dc_b.jpg
Yes yes, my mistake i'm dumb mea culpa.
But, on the bright side I got a whopping deal on some bfg 205/50/17's on craigslist so now I'll fill in that rear a lot better.(thought I was gonna have to run the 215/50's from my stockies... I'm on them now and I cant turn much in the front, they're so dang tall.)
09SocalTC 04-27-2011, 05:06 AM daymmm I still need to flip my tires and get an alignment...I'm getting horrible gas milage.
Hayseed 04-27-2011, 05:09 AM ^Yeah, I get terrible gas mileage. Found a drive on alignment rack. They need 4'' of clearance so I figure I'll go on my stockies and it'll be close but I should get on.
Also, I've had those tires for 3 months... lol

i meant for all 4 corners! lol. so the ichiba ones come out to about 50 bucks for all four corners, not much at all. definitely a better choice.

Lmao, I didn't think that at all.
Hayseed, it's not how long you've had the tires on the car, how many miles they have. Sooooo.... How many miles before the tires got worn to the wires?
tC-S08 04-27-2011, 06:00 AM Damn Seed, you deffitnetly wore out your tires faster then me and I drive about 100miles a day but I also took mine to get an alignment done, lol I was gonna try it myself but I was like screw that found a place in west Covina that had a ground ramp so by the looks of your tires I'm glad I didn't even attempt. Lol

It's only one stud that isn't clearing the wheel's recess on each side. It'll probably be easier to cut that one stud and replace it down the road than to replace all 10 in the rear.

Would there be a way to get LOW without pulling my liners? Or is it going to have to happen no matter what? And should i get some camber bolts? I cannot afford to blow through tires with a ton of camber...
Hayseed 04-27-2011, 01:39 PM Dropzone, I drive about 50 miles every other day. But it was still ridiculously fast wear. Getting a proper alignment soon...

i didnt remove my fender liners...i just let it rub away at my tires and now i dont rub anymore :icon_biggrin:
Irishguy0224 04-27-2011, 02:27 PM Wheel specs?
CleanFMtC 04-27-2011, 03:13 PM I'd take them out if I were you. Mine got ripped out on the highway, it was not fun.
Irishguy0224 04-27-2011, 03:25 PM I am going to end up pulling them for the summer i think. I cant afford to not have any for winter time lol
Hayseed 04-27-2011, 03:55 PM You wont get too much dirt in your bay if you keep the splash guards in. Just convert your cai to sri... It'll be louder anyways
