MooSE55
04-10-2011, 01:19 PM
Ur goinf to need some new suspension first..than get a 9inch + wide wheel with as low an offset u can find..ur going to have to roll ur fenders and deal with rubbing sometimes..not goinf to get very aggressive with a 1inch drop

^What springs did you get?? Just installed my B&G coilovers and the fronts can def slam(has an adjustment range of 4+"); now the rears, not even tucked(and that's set as low as I could, bottoming out the lower body), I do have about a 1/2 inch of thread between the spring perches and the lower body collar. Currently am riding reverse rake status(about 1/2" height variance from front to back) as it's now getting late and tired of making adjustments for today.

i have somewhat of the same problem, the fronts will slam, but my backs can tuck just a bit of tire when maxed out on my B&G's...i see some people almost tucking rim and stuff and makes me wonder what im doing wrong...not like i wanna go that low anyways haha :P

hey dz I installed mine as well about 2 days ago, and just like you and mystik the fronts can slam but the rears just aren't quite low enough for my liking, and I know that others have removed perches and such to get their rears to slam , I'm still debating if I want to do that or not, which I'm not really against but I have to consider other factors, I mean don't get me wrong I knew that this was the decision I would have to make eventually but i'm stuck at the moment as to what I will do, what are you guys going to do about your rear setups are you just going to bite the bullet and remove some perches?

dropzone
04-11-2011, 05:05 AM
^I have 1/2" of thread to play with before I get all the rings to get to the lower body, which will leave me with no preload on the spring, then taking off rings will def start reducing shock travel. The ride how it is now is just so good, dare I risk that?

EDIT: I think we should move this to here... http://scionlife.com/forums/showthread.php?t=201213

How bad is everyone camber (ware/wear?) how fast are you going through tires mile-wise?

tC-S08
04-11-2011, 09:13 PM
That Mazda is HellaDope!! As far as me I've been running like -1 F & -3.16 R since January when I got my new tires and alignment and my tires are still good and I usually drive 100+ miles a day, just rotate tires I usually do it every 3k miles and when there wearing out before they get pretty worn have your tires flipped/ turned to get more life out of then and your good

Hayseed
04-11-2011, 09:31 PM
Yeah exactly^
You're not gonna get like 30k out of your tires. Thats why a lot of guys who run massive camber often really cheap out on tires

Having your toe within spec is more important than camber

Hayseed
04-11-2011, 11:26 PM
Yeah Toe is important. It makes for even camber wear versus a really bad uneven wear with out of spec toe.
Really curious about this concept. Could do tremendous things for the stance scene:

THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING!...but SpicyMcTrollinz thinks otherwise....

having your toe in spec doesnt mean you can run 3454982 degrees of camber with no ill consequences though. The tires will still wear faster than they would if all your specs were within OEM standard, but not as fast as having wack camber and toe specs.

I immensely respect everyone who stanced out their tC, or any car for that matter. This sh*t takes more work than a lot of people think, including myself. I just spent the past three hours trying to fit my 17mm spacers. It rubs sooooo bad. So they came off until I can find the time to max out the rear camber. Or get rid of these fat a** tires. However, I did lower the car about 1/2". :)

any of you wheel fitment pros know if a 18x8.5 et+15 for a front wheel would fit nicely? by nice i mean flush possibly very little poke...im running about -1.5° camber up front and im slammed...maxed out on B&G's...so im wondering if the wheel is gonna hit my fender if i get a +15 offset. i know more camber will make it work for sure, but im not trying to ruin my tires too fast...lol

Here's 17x9 +17... Not 18's, but this gives you the idea of the poke. I'm at -1.5* camber.

Using Hayseed's specs, 8.5 +15 would be 4mm less poke.

you can only see it if you get up on it, most of it was saved by the door mat and im not about to get ghetto and do the diy fixes for curb rash, even though one has some on it, can't you just take it to a shop or something

tC-S08
04-16-2011, 07:55 AM
Yea there's shops that can repair rims, but if it's not necessary or even noticeable y bother, plus if ur running stretched tires ur lips are going to have scratches/dings from being exposed so no biggie....

Spoony
04-16-2011, 06:52 PM
Since they're torques, don't bother.
I had some rash on the barrel on one of my Double X's because of someone, that will remain nameless, dropped them on their face... but Wheel Revivers in SD fixed it; came out like new.

225/40 R18 on 9.5" wheel

215/40. Good stretch and still enough tire.

Jasper Ash
04-19-2011, 11:49 PM
I'm leaning towards 225/35 or 215/40. My buddy with the slammed GS has 225/35 Achilles on 9.5" and it's pretty damn stretched. It sucks because I'm not even all that low and I rub quite a bit. It's embarrassing lol.

chicotunner07
04-20-2011, 12:42 AM
^its your tires!

the pics of the 512's you posted looked alot better then the nittos, lol

by my specs, your 17mm spacers should be perfect with 2.5-3* of camber

with my 15mm spacer w -2.5 camber, the lip of the rim comes a hair (literally i cant stick a thick piece of paper) of the fender when suspension is fully compressed.

Jasper Ash
04-20-2011, 01:34 AM
I still have the 512's. I'd like to just sell them and pick up a smaller size. I'm at -2.8* in the right rear and it looks like this with the 17mm spacer on. As you can see, the tire is literally sitting on the bumper pushing it out from the fender.

http://i750.photobucket.com/albums/xx143/Jasperashmusic/f7654ab6.jpg

Maybe I can just run more camber and shave more of the bumper?

Yea most aggressive tC set up's are running neg camber on the fronts and rears. Plus a lot of fender work and stretched tires.

Wasn't sure if the camber was a side effect from lowering or if it was intentional to fit larger wheels after a drop.

My truck has -3 up front as a side effect.

The lower the drop the more negative camber develops, it's natural because of the suspension setup.

Front = 18X8 offset +40
Tire = Falken FK452, 215/40/18

Rear = 18X9 offset, +40
Tire = Falken ZE512 235/40/18

Rays Engineering Lugnuts.

LOVE THEM SO MUCH! I highly recommend buying rims from Wes. They were the condition he advertised them at. The rear tires at the time concerned me a bit so I bought new tires for the rears. Since then, I have been getting some attention at school as students walk by to comment on them.

I look around on this forum everday and love the tight-knit community here. The reason why I don't really post is because I find my answer using the search function. This time I just had to post. :P

What kind of rims are these?

Nope, I still need to get another set of camber bolts. I found some on eBay for $12 gotta pick those up, and then work on getting the fronts right.

What do you guys do to keep the front bumper and front fenders fitted correctly after a pull? My front fenders are pulled out about 1/2 inch and my bumpers are sitting in and not only does it look bad, it rubs like a motherfuuuu. I tried zip ties but it isn't quite working for me.

didn't do any thing just a hand pull and bent the bumper tab up just so it don't touch the tire. and specs on wheels are 18x9.5 et +30 front and the rear is rolled and pulled wheels are 18x9.5 et +10 has a 20mm spacer .

^ I cut the bumper tab out and bent the fender tab back out of the way. Now that they're not connected the bumper is just sitting wherever it wants.

What are you guys using to roll your fenders? and are you running camber in the front? I'm having trouble grasping how to get lower on my coils. I still have like 15-20 threads left on my racelands in the front on my 18x8 et 35 with 225/40/18

yeah forsure, ill bring it. what do u need to cut off?

Jasper Ash

Irish guy, you'll be okay if you drop the coilovers all the way down. You will rub on the fender liners a bit but a roll wouldn't hurt.

Try to find someone with an eastwood roller. Search that in craigslist too, some shops do it.

im still rolling on my winter rims which are 18x8 40, 225 40 18 and 1 thread left on racelands no rub, just have to take out the front fenderliners and push in the front bumper tab.

^ For anyone on similar specs: 18x9.5 +38. I did some more work today. Again, couldn't get the 17mm spacers on the rear. One of the recesses on the Enkeis is keeping me from fitting it correctly. I just need to cut a stud and run more stretch.

CleanFMtC
04-27-2011, 04:42 AM
Jasper, just get slip ons and extended studs. Cutting them isnt really safe even tho a lot of people do it. Or get a set of 25mm bolt ons because those will completely cover the stud.

dropzone

^x2 Slip-on spacer w/extended studs. If the grind fix is being done for just one wheel then when it's time for going back to running without spacer he'll have to replace with a new wheel stud anyway.

CleanFMtC

Yuppp! Plus new studs are like 75 bucks at the most?

dropzone

^Maybe for some ARP or uber JDM ones lol. Ichiba sells extended for 2.49 each.

A set of 5 extended ARP studs...

Here boys and girls, is a grrrrreat example of thinking you can align your toe correctly:http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5028/5659852307_958cafc9dc_b.jpg
Yes yes, my mistake i'm dumb mea culpa.
But, on the bright side I got a whopping deal on some bfg 205/50/17's on craigslist so now I'll fill in that rear a lot better.(thought I was gonna have to run the 215/50's from my stockies... I'm on them now and I cant turn much in the front, they're so dang tall.)

daymmm I still need to flip my tires and get an alignment...I'm getting horrible gas milage.

Hayseed
04-27-2011, 05:09 AM
^Yeah, I get terrible gas mileage. Found a drive on alignment rack. They need 4'' of clearance so I figure I'll go on my stockies and it'll be close but I should get on.
Also, I've had those tires for 3 months... lol

i meant for all 4 corners! lol. so the ichiba ones come out to about 50 bucks for all four corners, not much at all. definitely a better choice.

Lmao, I didn't think that at all.

Hayseed, it's not how long you've had the tires on the car, how many miles they have. Sooooo.... How many miles before the tires got worn to the wires?

04-27-2011, 06:00 AM
Damn Seed, you deffitnetly wore out your tires faster then me and I drive about 100miles a day but I also took mine to get an alignment done, lol I was gonna try it myself but I was like screw that found a place in west Covina that had a ground ramp so by the looks of your tires I'm glad I didn't even attempt. Lol

It's only one stud that isn't clearing the wheel's recess on each side. It'll probably be easier to cut that one stud and replace it down the road than to replace all 10 in the rear.

Would there be a way to get LOW without pulling my liners? Or is it going to have to happen no matter what? And should i get some camber bolts? I cannot afford to blow through tires with a ton of camber...

Dropzone, I drive about 50 miles every other day. But it was still ridiculously fast wear. Getting a proper alignment soon...

You wont get too much dirt in your bay if you keep the splash guards in. Just convert your cai to sri... It'll be louder anyways
