Irishguy0224 04-27-2011, 03:57 PM Alright, i will pull the fender liner and keep the splash guards in. Thanks for all the help guys. Jasper Ash 04-27-2011, 09:35 PM I'm loving these wheels more every day. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5305/5662051861_3543ed3a87_z.jpg mystik 04-27-2011, 11:17 PM Wheel specs? 18x8.5 +30 front (soon to be +15) 18x9 +24 rear maxed out on B&G coilovers...no fender liners or guards removed, fenders only rolled and pulled a bit. 09SocalTC 04-27-2011, 11:18 PM I'm loving these wheels more every day. then you grow to hate them, and wonder everyday why you bought them in the first place :D. mmmpshh 04-28-2011, 12:11 AM ^ lol.... Ive been thinkin about selling mine already. Im ticklin the idea of getting those te37's that other dude is sellin on here! tC-S08 04-28-2011, 12:18 AM Your talking about the te37 that are white? That's the only person I know who has them on I believe it's stinkysab or something like that, that would look nice white on white but you just got your rims and there very sexy I would stick wiith the rpf1 but I mean if it isn't what you really want then your always gonna b unhappy until you get what you really want Jasper Ash 04-28-2011, 12:19 AM ^ The white ones? Those are hot. However, I'm very happy with these wheels. Not only are they RPF1s, which I freaking love, but they're a custom color and sizing for our bolt pattern. mmmpshh 04-28-2011, 12:24 AM very true... but the te37 is my all time fav wheel. I think I'll b satisfied once I have a week to spare to get these powder coated stinkysab 04-28-2011, 12:50 AM Te37 (concave) in 5x100 bolt pattern only comes once in a blue moon. stinkysab 04-28-2011, 01:26 AM http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii134/stinkysab/Scion%20tc/IMG_0972.jpg Whoring before they are gone. Kingshawty12 04-28-2011, 01:42 AM Omgz, lol, this thread makes me want to get a tc for my own instead of our families xb xD. Did anyone notice any mpg increases or decreases when switched to their rpf1s? yellowxhoodie 04-28-2011, 03:02 AM please dont tell me those are volk stickers Jon 04-28-2011, 03:15 AM Lol those are TEs. stinkysab 04-28-2011, 04:02 AM Those are the real deal. Get that alot. 09SocalTC 04-28-2011, 04:31 AM What's the point of buying legit TE's anymore?...half of the people always seem to doubt the legitness anyway...waste of money. This is a broke college kids view point, not a 30 something big ballin with a house and two car garage. Rotas FTW. Hayseed 04-28-2011, 04:41 AM ^Disagree. I'd rock legit wheels in a heartbeat. jeremydoc 04-28-2011, 04:42 AM id only buy legit wheels if i had the money to blow. im more for looks rather than brand name. 09SocalTC 04-28-2011, 04:44 AM Same here....but if people are going to assume they are Rotas eff that. I'll just buy Rotas for my daily roller. Don't get me wrong if a pile of Work boxes where piled on my door step, I'd have a raging boner. jeremydoc 04-28-2011, 04:48 AM hahahaha. ^ agreeeeed 09SocalTC 04-28-2011, 04:50 AM LOL they should make the Work stamp stay in place while you drive. "Check THAT STAMP FOOL!!!!!" stinkysab 04-28-2011, 05:01 AM Why buy te37s? The same can be said for anything. Why buy Nike? Why buy Louis vuiton? Why buy lambo? etc... I wanted them because they are my favorite wheels. Maybe a stupid reason to buy them, but i love them. :) ihavenosn 04-28-2011, 05:53 AM It's totally worth it when they assume your stuff is fake, then finding out that its real and saying "Holy ____!" hahaha cbridges17 04-28-2011, 06:29 AM anyone else see this tc2 on s:n? http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt198/Chri_023/b29f0823.jpg dropzone 04-28-2011, 06:57 AM ^Nope, but def needs to be lower, that wheel gap is not helping the look. cbridges17 04-28-2011, 07:15 AM def needs lower. its got potential though, they are growing on me. i hated them at first. dropzone 04-28-2011, 07:21 AM The little changes they did(more like remove) has left me a bit disappointed with the tC2. I would have thought someone would be on some baller and aggressive wheels on the tC2 as I've seen plenty in the used market online. Oh well, there still hasn't been a coilover setup released to pull the look off yet, so it's a waiting game for now for tC2 owners. Kingshawty12 04-28-2011, 08:52 AM the Tc2's look nice, i don't like the steering wheel though, it seems huge in my opinion. lol Bum 04-28-2011, 11:57 AM What's the point of buying legit TE's anymore?...half of the people always seem to doubt the legitness anyway...waste of money. This is a broke college kids view point, not a 30 something big ballin with a house and two car garage. Rotas FTW. funny story... i did that yesterday. lol i made a remark about him ripping off uyles because i didnt know they were real. i felt like a _____. yellowxhoodie 04-28-2011, 01:38 PM i fail. haha what are the specs on those? looks pretty aggressive, especially for FWD sizing. stinkysab 04-28-2011, 04:29 PM They are 18x9.5 +22 all around. I dont think anyone would rock te37s sticker on reps. dropzone 04-28-2011, 04:32 PM There's been posts on here, one guy on his build thread got called out about it, and was not a good few days for him forum-wise. kRze 04-28-2011, 04:45 PM They are 18x9.5 +22 all around. I dont think anyone would rock te37s sticker on reps. http://mduece.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/5619831890_faa05ca8ec_b.jpg Varrstoens, I believe. stinkysab 04-28-2011, 04:49 PM If you have reps, just leave them as reps. Dont try to pretend to have "real wheels." Thats just me though. yellowxhoodie 04-28-2011, 04:50 PM They are 18x9.5 +22 all around. I dont think anyone would rock te37s sticker on reps. I think that why i just assumed they were knock offs. Everytime ive seen TE's on a tC its been in pretty horrible sizing. And as far as the knock off vs real debate. People buy real deal stuff because its proven to be stronger and they like supporting companies that support the "scene" back. Without the OG companies Rota and all those other companies wouldnt even have any styles to copy off of. But i guess now days its just about creating a trendy car as quickly and cheaply as possible. stinkysab 04-28-2011, 04:50 PM Holy fk. I cant tell the difference between those and the te37. You sure they are fake? kRze 04-28-2011, 04:52 PM If you have reps, just leave them as reps. Dont try to pretend to have "real wheels." Thats just me though. ^Yea I agree. I mean I wish I could afford some real Works but reality is I can't being a college student. So I have torques but I'm definitely not going to throw Work stickers on them. Jasper Ash 04-28-2011, 04:54 PM Nothing wrong with reps. But rocking reps as if they are real with stickers and centercaps, and calling them real, not okay. However that tC2 does it for me. Potential. yellowxhoodie 04-28-2011, 04:54 PM http://www.fakewheels.com/images/vork1.jpg stinkysab 04-28-2011, 04:55 PM Isnt varrstoens violating federal copyright laws? Thats the same exact look as te37s. kRze 04-28-2011, 04:59 PM The car was posted on Stancenation.com FB page. Like hoodie showed, the black TE37s have the red pin on them. I think he just got the Varrstoens and threw the Volk stickers on them. stinkysab 04-28-2011, 05:00 PM I think that why i just assumed they were knock offs. Unless he got them and powder coated them black along with the center caps. You can obviously tell the one that hoodie showed is a replica. But the varrstoen...:ponder: kRze 04-28-2011, 05:12 PM You can obviously tell the one that hoodie showed is a replica. But the varrstoen...:ponder: Yea they could be real. I was just guessing fake because they look like varrstoen. The car looks nice though.. nice drop and colors. Rims look good real or fake. XIEmperorIX 04-28-2011, 05:18 PM But i guess now days its just about creating a trendy car as quickly and cheaply as possible. couldn't have said it any better CK028 04-28-2011, 07:11 PM couldn't have said it any better and for a DD, what's wrong with that? this debate has been had over and over again. as for me, i don't see the need in spending all that money for real miesters (but i would kill for some) so i can justify getting rota d2's which are expensive for my not so large budget. if they look nice and are reliable, f it. who cares EDIT: not trying to start a war or flame anyone, just stating my opinion. Jon 04-28-2011, 07:35 PM I'm a broke college student and I have Works. Had Rotas too. You should see all of the high end companies that are starting to run Rota's on the track, and the numbers are growing. Honestly, if you think non-biased for a moment and compare bang-for-the-buck, you can't blame them. Honestly, IMO, if you're running Volks just for looks and not on the track, you've defeated the purpose of the wheels anyways. I don't track or go to car shows. It's not like I really need $700 per rim wheels. Oh and I would have gotten those Works too for the price you got them! Steal man! ;) I think they cost less then my torques. The line between "legit" and "fake" is starting to fade and less people are starting to care. Honestly, IMO, if you're running Volks just for looks and not on the track, you've defeated the purpose of the wheels anyways. bang for the buck is the argument everyone uses...and its one of the worst ones. For the price people pay for a new set of rotas, you could buy a used set of quality wheels, usually with tires too. and im not saying your lying or anything, just kind of curious. What high end companies are using rotas on the track? most knockoff wheels are heavier than their quality counterparts, so i dont see why any high end company that is actually trying to perform competitively would run them. Hayseed 04-28-2011, 09:02 PM ^I agree that you can get used high quality wheels for a low price. I did cheap out and buy reps, but I kick myself because right after I had the chance to buy 1. Work CR-Kai's for $1200 with tires, and 2. SSR Prof. SP1's for about the same price. Neither was exactly the size/offset I wanted but I could have made it work. I am ____ed I did that. My next set of wheels will be real. Dont get me wrong though, I run reps and have absolutely no hate for anyone who does. yellowxhoodie 04-28-2011, 09:08 PM i dont hate people that do, i just dont really understand the logic. (hence my previous post) kRze 04-28-2011, 10:11 PM ^Like Hayseed said. Find some CR-Kai's in 18x9.5 ~35 offset for under $1000 with tires (lol) then you will make sense. Believe me I have looked and searched. CL, stanceworks, stancenation, SL, WFC etc... all the ads for used Works for a few months. You wont find them in that size or color that you want. You're looking more in the range of $2k+ (just rims) from what Ive seen and even at that.. you have to hope that are 5x100. (Or spend a bunch on hub centric adapters and a powder coat if not the color you want) Yea sure I've seen some 17s with high offsets for ~$1300 in a plain metal but thats not what I want. Yea I could afford them but why get a size/color you don't like? This is almost like AMD vs Intel. Spend a bunch with Intel set up but get the better machine, or spend a lot less on an AMD set up and get the runner up machine. Do they BOTH still get the job done at the end of the day? Yup. At the end of the day, it is what it is. It's getting what you want/need and can afford it. yellowxhoodie 04-28-2011, 10:23 PM lolol. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5150951-FS-5x100-Work-cr-kai-18x9.5-38-all-around old thread, and doesnt have tires but kind of makes my point. you just got to have patience. i picked up a pair of brand new still in box CR-KAI's for $300 on CL over here. Granted they werent the best size but they were better quality than rotas. yellowxhoodie 04-28-2011, 10:25 PM ^compare with, http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6444 yellowxhoodie 04-28-2011, 10:25 PM ^compare with, http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6444 $1100 works shipped $1150 rotas shipped kRze 04-28-2011, 10:29 PM ^ LOL nice find(even though old)! Yea that is a very good deal but probably VERY rare. I would have drove to Vegas to pick them up if it was earlier this year. xD But then you have to buy tires, and I wouldn't be happy with that color so I would have powder coat them. And then you're looking at close to $1600. Granted you have the rims and you can probably save for the rest. It's if you really want to spend that much on some DD rims. To each their own I guess. edit: I didn't pay $1,150 for my set. I got them for less then $1000 new with tires. (color/size/look I wanted) stinkysab 04-28-2011, 10:30 PM I believe anyone can afford high end wheels like volk, work, advan, bbs, etc... It just takes time to save up. The thing is, no one wants to wait. kRze 04-28-2011, 10:35 PM I believe anyone can afford high end wheels like volk, work, advan, bbs, etc... It just takes time to save up. Thing thing is, no one wants to wait. Yea.. true. They want it now and at best price. but kudos if you can find them at a killer price used. Hoodie and Jon both found some works at great prices that I would have definitely paid if the opportunity came around local. yellowxhoodie 04-28-2011, 10:45 PM I believe anyone can afford high end wheels like volk, work, advan, bbs, etc... It just takes time to save up. Thing thing is, no one wants to wait. Exactly, ive also read about alot of people buying knock offs, having them bend, dent, whatever and then buying another set, etc etc. Then realizing they couldve just bought a good set from the start with all the money they wasted. Also, if you play your cards right, moneys not even an issue after the initial investment. Buy your wheels used, use them some more, sell them for the price you paid. yellowxhoodies guide to financial success. i rarely sell car parts at a loss, most of the time i make money, and i have never sold any wheels at a loss. masterbB 04-28-2011, 11:09 PM well im crashing the tc thread with my temporary set up. these are gonna go on my girls tc once my works are finished. xxr 527 17x9.75 +25 235/40 http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p291/masterbarista/100_0026.jpg http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p291/masterbarista/100_0028.jpg mmmpshh 04-28-2011, 11:20 PM im startin to love those rims more and more!!! b looks sick.... but stop takin over our thread. lol j/k TCpete 04-28-2011, 11:26 PM ok so i was asked to come here... who do i need to make look like a sucka foo??? and why are ya'll crying about real vs fake shouldn't this thread be about bandwagon pokin and choppin up my fenders for the sake of fitting in cuz its 2011 and thats what all the kewl kids are doing so i can rock slanted themed stickers about hellaflushing? That sums it up. /discussion. FF!!!Monster 04-29-2011, 12:14 AM @yellowxhoodie: TiC Motorsports, Takata/COBB, GST Motorsports, LIC Motorsports, etc. Sorry, im kind of a subie freak. Regardless, I'll agree that this "argument" is dumb. Everyone has their reasons to get what they have. Whether it be smaller budgets, lack of patience or whatever. To each their own. It's good to know that you can always count on tcpete to lighten up the mood. Speaking of good companies suffering, did you guys hear about HKS? They are pulling all of their US operations. Damn economy... However, they did not state that they will be closing down entirely. Just the US side. yellowxhoodie 04-29-2011, 01:11 AM Can't blame just the economy. Same argument as the wheels. Knockoff companies (like Godspeed) come in, spend $0 on r&d, completely rip off designs, people buy it just because it's cheaper and end up putting the og companies out of business. Kind of sad. Then people complain about no new parts coming out. Companies like Godspeed bring nothing to the table. Just copied products. Put yourself in hks's shoes. Would you want to spend a ton of money developing a new product when you knew another company would just come along, steal your design, and sell it for cheaper, eventually running you into the ground? TCpete 04-29-2011, 06:12 PM i have to cut my tabs a little too... even though my set up is not aggressive... i rub like a mofoooooo... i guess i have aggressive tires lulz Irishguy0224 04-29-2011, 06:23 PM Im running 18x8.5 et 35 with 225/40/18. Lowered on racelands, no fender liners and fenders rolled. And i hit it bad. i am going to cut the whole thing off. tC-S08 04-29-2011, 07:00 PM Irish, I just posted on the post pics thread about ur rubbing issue and then I see it on here, lol also forgot to mention on the other thread if you go wit smaller tires you would b fine like 205/40 to get some stretch cause I don't think you would get a stretch on 215/35 But you might even clear with out stretch on 215/35 Irishguy0224 04-29-2011, 07:05 PM Ya, i understand stretching would help, but i cannot invest more into tires right now... These ones barely have 1k miles on them. lol jona jaaayyy 04-30-2011, 09:12 AM A teaser; stay tuned for the rest of the pictures from this set. :) http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5149/5648686963_9be1fee7e3_b.jpg Oh! And i was thinking..what should i do next for the car? Any suggestions? domincnTC 04-30-2011, 12:34 PM Since you guys are running aggressive stances maybe you have an idea for me. I took my fender liners out and lowered my car more. But now i am hitting the tab that holds the bumper to the fender. Can i cut it off and be ok? http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t128/unforgivensin188/2011-04-29101320.jpg that is my issue... Im rubbing really bad on bumps. I need to fix it today I took a dremel to it and cut it out and it still holds up just as well Irishguy0224 04-30-2011, 02:01 PM Ya, i cut it right out. No more rubbing on bumps! Yayyyyy @jona, i know you have a more aggressive wheel set up than i do and you are lower, when you are turning, how does your wheel not catch your fender? When i was cruising through the parking garage last night to do a shoot when i was turning really hard, my tire would catch the top of my fender... Just a rub. here is a teaser from last night. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t128/unforgivensin188/2011-04-29232801.jpg MooSE55 04-30-2011, 02:08 PM It's probably just ur tire sizes bc the set up is very aggressive.. Irishguy0224 04-30-2011, 02:11 PM My set-up is? mmmpshh 04-30-2011, 02:19 PM A teaser; stay tuned for the rest of the pictures from this set. :) http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5149/5648686963_9be1fee7e3_b.jpg Oh! MooSE55 04-30-2011, 02:23 PM Sorry ment isn't..if u just got smaller tires u should be fine or add some camber bolts Irishguy0224 04-30-2011, 02:30 PM Ya, i was thinking of some camber bolts stinkysab 04-30-2011, 05:00 PM Retrofit your headlight jona jayy. Jasper Ash 05-01-2011, 05:36 PM ^ A table? Would be awesome! Sadly the tC isn't exactly a VIP platform. But to do one that way would just be amazing. Hayseed 05-16-2011, 10:08 PM is gonna look bad if i take out fender liner and where in Long island can i get a fender rolling service No, almost all of us have the liners taken out. It'll look fine. And go to harbor freight and get a heat gun and a big hammer and you can roll your fenders easily. I would have went with a 40 series tire as well. |
