im sorry but most of the full faced "luxury wheels" dont even look good on the tc... alot of people get them just because of how expensive they are or were. People hardly do things because it looks good anymore. It kinda sucks because people who do have a good setup dont get the respect they deserve.

So I was offered a trade for my alphards:
http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n92/pauvneksqb14/IMG_0242.jpg

Specs are 17x8, 18x10 and it comes with a 17x8 spare, 18x8.5 spare, and a 18" spare face. I'd plan on re-lipping both the fronts and the rears. Thoughts? Keep the Alphards?

Jon

Taking them apart is pretty straight forward. Just take the bolts out and break the outer seal then pry them apart. The worst part is removing all the old sealant.

Jasper Ash
11-30-2011, 04:19 PM
^ If you're trying to go low with minimal rubbing, I think a lot of us would suggest a 40 series tire on 17s.

Has anyone ever plugged a stretched tire? Or had any issues with a nail? Found a nail right in the middle of my tire today and I can't tell if it has gone all the way through or not. Thinking about just plugging it.

yes they can sir!!! :icon_mrgreen:

@Irishguy0224

some places that claim to be able to rebarrel use low quality steel or aluminum that bend and form easy. they also use low grade bolts or wrong thickness in flaring edge of the lip where the face meets the barrel causing there to be less thread threaded on the nut/bolt. also the aluminum sometimes is not balanced properly causing ____ty vibrations... yes balancing the wheel and tire helps but the wheel will never be 100% balanced like it should causing the studs to shake on the faces and become loose after a while (needing to be tightened more then they should after X amount of mileage)

its little things like that that are very important.

Guys I need some help! :( I just purchased some tires Falken Zeix 502 by 205/40 attempting to mount on 17x8.5 offset 20. The mounting wasnt a problem but the outcome of the look of the wheel was kinda of disappointing, there was a decent stretch but once wheel was mounted on my car, I now have a noticeable wheel gap almost 2 finger in the rear and 1 in the front. I am sitting on stechs. The tire looks so thin like low pro thin :*( any advice guys. I plan on purchasing new tires this week any sizing tips? I would like to get best look stretch and gap fill. Any advice would help thanks in advance.

Get 18s or get coilovers

Jasper Ash
12-07-2011, 04:15 AM
The more stretch you have, the more gap and clearance you'll have. You dont need that stretch on S-techs. So you'll either need to go lower, or proper sized tires.

I'm glad to finally see Alphards on a tC. But a good point was made. I think VWs can pull off any wheel. Idk if it's because they're mostly on air in the stance scene or what. But Alphards tucked on an bagged MKV is just money. I really think these would look amazing with some rear rim tuck on our cars.

Jasper Ash

^ I don't like that look people give me. It makes me feel ricey. And just makes me want to solve the problem even more. My wheels are getting chewed up. :( If I can get it to where theres only some tire rubbing, I'll happy. But rim hitting fender sucks.

But your ish looks good, love the specs and fitment of those 17s.

Anyway, I lowered the coils yesterday. I put the fronts down hoping drive like this, but it just isn't happening.

EDIT: I know there is going to be some naysayers, but the car isn't jacked up in the rear. Just slammed the fronts down and let it off the jack. I rolled it off the 2x4, got about 8 feet back and realized the car is staying there for a while. But yeah..

it looks like the tab for the bumper/rear fender.. if not, take off all the plastic pieces you have on the rear bumper.. if that still doesn't fix your problem, look for shave marks on both your tire and your body panels.

Jasper Ash
01-09-2012, 10:04 PM
^ I agree. There's A LOT under there that gets in the way. A lot of the problem is the metal in the area where the quarter panel and bumper meet. Break out an angle grinder and a cut off wheel. I fear its the only way.

I had the same problem. You may want to take a grinder and shave the fender a bit and with the heat and a rubber mallet and something flat to lay on the outside of the fender just bang the fender flat.

Yeah it sounds like the rear rim lip is contacting the quarter panel. Mine does that. When I have the wheel off I can see where it's running on the inside of the quarter panel, on the rolled lip. There's a strip of paint missing.

BlkTC

just drive onto a steep driveway and threewheel. One wheel will be tucked under and check that wheel to see where the contact point is.. usually you could find it

Soon sir, soon.

Irish, I hope you'll be sitting low...

Front will be as low as last year (maxed out) rear will be much lower than last year as my tire size will be on point.

^ I agree. Please do them right. You have more reason to be lowlow on a 10.5 setup. It'll look odd if you're not.

Duhhhhhh

You'll need a good amount of fender work as well. And ditch the raceland coils.

It shouldn't be that bad. Jeremy doc got 17x10 under his car without much hassle. and he is 17x10 all around. I cant afford anything but racelands right now lol.

BBS RS 17x9.5 F 17x10.5 R

Damn you really hustled someone with those style 5's if you got enough to afford those (if you just used what you got back from the sale)

Irish: depending on your offset it it's lower then 20 your gonna have to put in a lot of work to make 10.5 to fit. Jeremydoc had to put in work on his tc to make those rims fit. Shin had 11 wide on his tc he had a low offset and he put in a lot of work. But the end result should look good.

I'm not a fan of the RS's you got, I think the face is too small, but it'll be cool to see on your tc man!

Thanks dude and ya the face is a bit small. But it's all fixable. I plan on doing the faces white as well if all goes to plan. I'm excited for sure.

Not digging how one set of lips are white and the others are polished.

Gotta say, they look good with polished lips, and with white.

Probably comes down to whether or not it would be easier to:
A) polish the last two painted lips.
B) paint the two polished lips.

I plan on doing something in the future but after having these laying around the house for a yr i had to get them on...

Polished lips have a better resale value, but my personal perspective is that all white looks better. yay or nay?

Hopefully i will have some better pictures soon
