oh well gives me time to get the car ready for the wheels :)

It might rub a little. The 9s sit in 7mm more than the 9.5s.

yeah thats not too bad, and im sure ill be kinda flush, no?? i might even run 5mm spacers too not sure yet

Jon
02-23-2010, 07:29 PM
The 5mm spacers will put you within 2mm of where the 9.5s would sit. So yeah they would be pretty flush. Maybe run a 8-10mm in the rear so they'll sit like the fronts. What size tire are you planning on running?

FlintMica2005
02-23-2010, 07:35 PM
yeah, im not 100% on the spacers yetthough, but i can always add them if i get tired of how it sits.

im planning on running stock size tires 215/45's. so a nice stretch but idk if it will be TOO much

Jon
02-23-2010, 07:41 PM
It's gonna be a pretty good stretch. With that much you might have to compensate with ride height.

This is a 225/45 on a 9:
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l282/trmoore/SRT-4/4188039687_38fe4661da_b.jpg

The Corolla from before has 215/40s.

davedavetC
02-23-2010, 07:51 PM
That's nothin for a stretch I'm gonna be runnin 205/40s on my 18x9 wheel :x

FlintMica2005
02-23-2010, 07:56 PM
yeah i dont think 215/45's wont be that bad at all. i think the way the corolla is it looks perfect, nothing crazy or anything like that. 215/45's is good for me. thanx for the pics jon. im just worried about rubbing. i wont be slammed but 2.4 front and 2 back

Jon
02-23-2010, 08:10 PM
You should be fine. You probably won't even have to take your fender liners out.

And here's another pic of the Corolla just cuz I like it:

FlintMica2005
02-23-2010, 08:17 PM
ooof that looks so good! i cant wait to get them, will i poke out that much though??

Jon
02-23-2010, 08:24 PM
Nah you'll be about 7mm from being in line with the fender. That's why I was saying if you put a 5mm spacer in the front and a 8 or 10mm in the rear you should be flush with the fenders.

FlintMica2005
02-23-2010, 08:31 PM
yeah man i think im going to have to do that. i want it to be flush. 5mm upfront and 10mm back i think ill be fine

Jon
02-23-2010, 08:41 PM
Yeah that should be on point if my #s are right. I was using ktothesass's car to estimate. I'm a visual person so I hope he doesn't mind me using his pic:

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/donttouchmebia/P1010808-1.jpg

That's how the 9.5" sits with a 35 offset and no spacers. And using the offset calculator, that set up is 42mm further out than stock. The 9" are 35mm further out than stock so to make up for that 7mm difference is where the spacers come in.

FlintMica2005
02-23-2010, 08:57 PM
that sounds right to me, hell ill run 10mm all around just to be on the safe side. thanks jon!

ill be posting these up hopefully next month. im going for a tiffany green color

so today i was out and about, im a rep for my company, so im putting anywhere from 100 to 350 miles a day, today i put in about 200 miles on my setup, gotta say, city driving was ok, the worst was on the highway going over dips in the road, i would hear a gutwrenching scrape, lol

at one point i could have sworn it was the lip of my wheel that hit the fender, but that was not the case, the outer fender tabs(that hold the fender liner in place) were rubbing pretty bad, so i got out some tools and did werke!

using a 1/2 inch drive ratchet i acctually did a ghetto roll/pull on my front fenders, now i have a neat little flare and much more room for the wheels when going in a straight line, i still have to be careful when turning, lol

im loving every minute of it!

SleePi
02-25-2010, 01:51 AM
what was your setup before? I had 18x7.5 on 225/40 and I stretched those same tires on my 9.5. LOL. I feel the road alot more. ): and im not even on coils. My girlfriends gonna hate my car once I get my coils.

chicotunner07
02-25-2010, 03:31 AM
just recently had Tein Htechs w MB Weapons 17x8 et46 w/ kumho asx 235/40/17, really liked the way they looked, but these i love, lol

i do feel the road alot more as is expected, im running slightly higher air pressure too, so that could be a contributing factor as well

Hey I had a question for the people running 18x9.5 w/ low et. What camber kits do you guys have? Also where did you purchase them? When i bought my coilover the guy told me i didnt need to buy them cause the Tc had them factory. Is that true? I didnt see a thing when i installed the coils, so i called him today to order me a camber kit and he said that nothing was available for the tc. Any info please.

whats low et? 15-25??

mines are +38 which i dont consider low offset, but the width puts them out there, stock adjustments in the rear, and my F&F camber plates in the front

for the rear you definitely dont need a camber kit, for the front, depending on how low you go, you might need a camber kit, you can either buy coils with top camber plates (F&F, Tein SSP, Ksport) theres others too, or you can buy camber bolts, they work great too!

i didnt feel comfortable leaving the wheel on blocks so i let it down as much as i felt okay too lol

theres a LOT less gap then that, the stock wheels are tucking, so i might have to raise it up, but keep in mind that is with 0 camber :)

That's how the 9.5" sits with a 35 offset and no spacers. And using the offset calculator, that set up is 42mm further out than stock. The 9" are 35mm further out than stock so to make up for that 7mm difference is where the spacers come in.

my fenders are slightly pulled too...with a small fender roll and little to no camber adjust these sit pretty aggro

needless to say, spacers coming and/or new wheels

The specs are 17x9 et14 with 205/45 falken 512s in the front and in the rear they are Drum Roll, Please.............. 17x11 et12with 235/45 falken 512s.

I think i could have easily pulled off 17x9 et0 though in the front with camber. Right now i have -3 in front and it sunk in too much even with my set up. Maybe ill add a spacer or something. And I shouldn't have pulled my rear fenders at all. They would have fit easily with enough camber. With my pulled fenders though i can probably fit et0 back there also :nails:, lol. Anyone equivalent or close to my set up? Let me know please. :)

yes, all cars come with factory camber adjustments, but some can be very limited, for example our rears can be adjusted infinitely it seems, whereas our fronts can only go very little, thats where aftermarked camber links/bolts/plates come in handy

NEW RULES

If you are posting pictures, post specs as well or the pictures will be deleted.

No one is learning from pics if there are no specs to go with them. Here is an example of stats that should be listed.

Rim Brand: Enkei
Rim Style: RPF1
Sizing:18x9.5 +38
Camber: F:-1 R:-1
Tire Size: 275/40/18
Tire Brand: Nitto
Tire Style: NT05

Also, if you are running spacers, mention it, as that will affect the offset.

Here is the blank "layout" if you want to copy and paste it

new rule is no ones fault.
just going to make things easier for the mods.

hopefully it will cut down on noobs starting new threads asking for pics of rims on a car or pics of certain size rims.

it will also give everyone a better idea of what things will look like if theyre changing their setups.

Jasper Ash

I don't expect to reach flush with 17x7. But I do want to go as wide as possible in that size without needing spacer. So thats probably like +40 offset?

Jon

A 40 offset is only 5mm closer to the fender than stock. Pretty much unnoticeable.

these are shots of my front left fender well, ghetto rolled and slightly pulled, front bumper/fender tab completely shaved and zip tied!

http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s222/chicotunner07/DSC_0463.jpg

rather then take out my fender liners, over the coarse of a week or so, i slowly chopped piece by piece until the rubbing on dips and bumps went away, this is what i cut out, these were low tire/liner clearance zones for anyone looking where the rubbing is coming from

pic of my ghetto roll and all the paint missing is from turning, the fender basically sits on the tire as im turning, lol, its really funny when its raining cuz the water makes the tire/fender squeak! all you hear is SSSSQQUUUEEEEEEEEEEEk, lol

^huh???

are you talking about the perches? if so, then yes and no, perches should only be removed if you still have some way of locking the springs perch in place, and no, it shouldnt affect anything

i have 1/3 rings in the rear, like chico said, you just need to make sure there is some way to lock it still.

its hard to say, because every company uses diff. designs

and if there is some plastic part on your coils, im sure its probably the bump stop or something not height related, cut last i checked plastic isnt soo strong, lol

I am sure its the bump stop that i cut. It made my ride less bouncy and alittle lower. It actually rubs my fenders now. I was affraid to take out a ring from the coil.

Do you ever or anyone else has thought about using a heat gun to give another shape or strech that plastic liner so it dosent rub and dont have to cut it.

you also drive and xB and all those guys on that forum thinking its ok dont track their cars or do much heavy driving... point a to point b on the low... the struts dont do any work that way... of course for some they wont complain, they know no better

EAmon

that is true, but imo there is nothign wrong with cutting a coil or 2 off. if your tracking your car, then yah its stupid. but for a daily its fine. plus if you are tracking it id imagine you'd be running a decent set of coils
