Default Candy tails vs. Bluebat overlays.

I currently have the Candied taillights and they are starting to fade in color (looks really crappy). I used the proper paint but I guess they didn't seal well. I was looking into getting the bluebatmobile full redout overlays. Anyone have any feed back on which maybe better? Should I repaint the tails or try the overlays? Thanks.

I too painted mine on the inside. 3yrs and they still look great!

My opinion - vinyl looks like, well, a piece of vinyl laid on top of the taillight. Paint looks like the tail came that way from the factory.

Not sure what you meant here, but my advice is to NEVER spray the outside of tails. They will look good for a while and quickly turn to poop.

Crack them open and spray the inside... trust me on that.

If you pull a tail light off the car, you'll see 4 or 5 tabs on the interior edge. Those just need to be popped. (Butter knives work really well)

After those are popped, the lens just pulls away. I think there are a couple threads with pics of the process, but it's not too tricky.

Thanks for the replies. I did them I think a little over a year ago. I cracked them open and painted the inside with at least 4 coats and provided ample drying time between coats. They turned out great it's just the outsides are fading a little bit. I'm thinking of may cracking them open and touching them up. I just can't remember the type of paint I used.

you have to bake them in the oven to get them open...

You don't have to bake the tails. It might help a little, but there's no glue or anything that needs to soften.
