Default This has to be a dumb question ... but

Aren't any of you guys worried about losing your warranties once you turbo , supercharge , n20 , or motorswap? I know it's all part of the game but one of the major reasons i bought a new car was so i'd have that insurance. any type of aftermarket warranty to use after you "pimp yer ride"? i know i know if i bought it for the warranty then i shouldnt worry bout voiding it if i pimp it but i unno it's brand new so ya know and it's ssllllloooooowwwww. all right thanx for any input in advance.

Some folks have big bucks and don't care about the warranty.

Some folks don't even consider their warranty when making mods.

Some folks think that they can just put the vehicle back to stock if they have a problem.

Some folks are betting that they can drive the modded car for a year and unload it before they have problems.

It takes all kinds!

I think that's why the IDEA of engine swaps comes up so much but ACTUAL engine swaps are nearly non-existent. Most of the cars people are doing these crazy mods to are not new cars, they are used cars and also used cars with lots of parts around. Sure there are exceptions, but most people aren't going to buy a brand new car and then hack it up. There's a lot of factors besides warranty to consider - cost, reliability, sellability, smogability. Screw one of those up and you've got an expensive immobile brick in your yard...

warranty is overrated.

people rely too much on warranty. whatever the problem, warranty covers DEFECTS!!!

warranty is aimed to cover defected items, not user abuse. if you abused ur engine and broke a valve? (stock engine with no mods) MOST likely warranty isnt going to cover that.

and most of the time warranty is very reasonable with the problems.

but WARRANTY IS OVERRATED!!!!

1 custom intake manifold
3 nitrous setups
full fiberglass stereo/speakers/monitors
Finished a 3zz swap (1zz bottom end/2zz head)

for the most part, this is true. but, if yu actually abuse your engine and break a valve, all you have to tell the dealer is that yu don't abuse your engine. it's not like they can prove anything..

i wish i was rich or that i knew somebody. i don't know anyone and am virtually dirt poor. i'm mostly worried about voiding my transmission warranty once i bag it. but the engine warranty too. i unno i just bout the car so ya know. i plan on swappin motors sometime. but by then my warranty will almost be gone. of cit wait i bought the extended my bad. so yeah after 70sum k i suppose. i wish i had the money and a shop with tools . if i had that then i'd be ready to dump it and swap it and be able to stock it in a day or so. lucky you joe. lucky man.

You need to read up on your rights. Don't ever let a dealer bvll____ you. The burden of proof is ON THEM to demonstrate that your modification or it's improper installation caused the "problem".

It's called the Magnusson-Moss Act. ;)
