Default Headlights will not turn on

So, my girlfriend is in Phoenix, I'm in SoCal, and the headlights on her xA will not turn on. She checked the fuses (following the owner's manual word for word) and they are fine. Any ideas? The bulbs can't be burnt out because there is no way they both would burn out that the same time when the car is only a few months over a year old.

Has anyone had this happen before, and can you offer any suggestions? Every time she goes to a Phoenix area dealer she gets taken advantage of, so I need to do it myself, but I can't because I'm 400 miles away. Please help.

I just don't see how both bulbs would go bad at the exact same time. It's can't be the bulbs.

There's really no way to check if they're good or not without replacing the bulbs. Then if that wasn't the fix, then you're back at square one and out money for new bulbs.

You can pull the bulbs out and look at the filament to see if they're still intact.

I'm not sure she'll be able to tell. But, I'll suggest it.

Can anyone think of anything else it could be?

I wish I could but checking the bulb's filament is really the only thing I can think of at the moment. Maybe the connections aren't tight?

just replace the fuse, sometimes it looks fince but it could be faulty. see if that works because it happened to me once when i had bulbs and thought it could of been my harness or the bulb until i switched the bulbs from sides and it was off from one side so i just replaced the fuse with the ones that come in the fuse box and it worked again.

Holy crap guys.

Problem fixed...and it's amazing what the issue was.

See, the bright lights were working but the normal lights were not. It turns out that she had the brights set, and when she turned the switch two clicks to turn on the headlights, the bright light indicator came on so she assumed that two clicks on the switch meant brights.

Low and behold, I had her pull the stalk back to turn off the birghts, and two clicks got her the normal headlights.

She's only been driving the car for a year now, I don't know how she didn't catch this.

Thank you for your responses and time andino and AcidDrop.

Mods, go ahead and delete this. Sorry for this incredibly stupid waste of time.

Just an fyi, both bulbs can burn out at the same time too. Sometimes replacing them is the only way to tell and I would use silver star ultras myself or even hid.
