Default I finally bought a tC!! Oh, I have a question, too...

My story's a doozy here, and it started 2 months ago:

Late September, I decided that I gotta get the tC. Unfortunately I only had $1000 to put down, but luckily, our old house has just been bought and was going through escrow. My mother said that I can use part of it for a down payment once escrow finishes, which meant I had to wait until the end of October.

Unfortunately, mid-October, the buyer had second thoughts and almost dropped out. Although he ultimately didn't, his actions delayed escrow until late November.

Finally, week of thanksgiving, escrow finished, but paperwork could not not be done until after Thanksgiving.

Week after (this week), we finally received the check and I started calling dealerships, particularly to find the best deals on the labor cost to install the TRD springs. Worst one was Scion of Hollywood, who not only charged $712 on labor, but also tried to sell me their $24,000 tC with leather, exhaust, 19" rims, interior lightings, etc. Bull____! I hate them. Best one was West Covina Scion, with $160 for labor, but with about 4-6 weeks wait.

Thursday, Frontier Scion called, who charges $320 for labor, saying that 2 Flint Mica Auto with Side Airbag's just came into the port and they're having a presale this Saturday morning. So I went there

I was the 2nd customer there at 8:30am, with a couple who got there before me. Luckily, they are going for the Flint Mica 5-speed, with SAB.

By 10:00, there were 10 people all for the 4 tCs available, the 3 flint micas, and a silver 5-speed. Unfortunately, it wasn't first come, first serve; it was a drawing

Of the 10 people, 6 people wanted the Flint Mica Auto. To my incredible luck, I was the first one chosen for it! One customer was supremely ____ed at the end, too - he caused quite a hassle for the dealership.

Because of all the fiasco, my paperwork and everything didn't get finished until 1:30pm! I also realized I forgotten to eat breakfast, but one of the sales guy, Joey Froy, bought lunch for me from this delicious Italian restaurant.

All in all, this is what I got coming in 2 weeks from the port:
Flint Mica Auto
Side Airbags
lowering springs (at $377 Labor AND parts!)
Platinum extended care ($1000)

all for $21006.77 after
license fee ($175)
doc fee ($45)
sales tax ($1524.77)

at 6.90%, tier II, $340.47 a month

The plus side is that because I didn't get the car 2 months ago, I managed to jump from Tier III to tier II. Hells yea!

Quick question:
I have until the delivery of the car to cancel the Platinum extended care. Should I keep it or not? It extends warranty from 3 years to 6 years, 30K to 60K, cost $1000, added $20 onto the payment ($320 without it)

Oh, I also want to thank Quentin and Joey for helping me out, and also Justin for getting lunch for me, too!

Frontier Toyota/Scion has some good people, except for Drew

Skip the warranty and save the $1000. Put it into a ROTH and retire early. If Toyota/Scion was a 50/50 chance of breakdown, I would buy the warranty. But with the great quality that Toyota has established in the last 20 years, I would bypass this fee.

If you do decide to purchase, do a search on this forum or Edmunds. There is a great amount of info to learn on warranties. Not all warranties are the same. Make sure your warranty is direct from Toyota and not a 3rd party selling the warranty.

Congrats on the tC.

Default you'll be happy with your tc, i'll bet money.

I've waited two months to finally get my tc, and after 4 days of ownership of a 5-speed, black sand pearl, I am elated as to how cool this car is. I have no complaints and lotsa love for my first new car, which was stock at $16,610, so i added 1,000.00 for the extended warranty to 7 years 90,000 miles, just in case the first year of this car needs some fine tuning. congrats to your decision and you'll definitely be surprised how many cool little features this car has! I'll post pics once i get it tinted(not coool enough yet), hope you show it off as well and cruise the hell out of it!

I decided against the warranty. Most of the 'extra' things offered by the extended warrantees are also offered as part of my AAA membership, and with Toyota quality I'm not terribly worried about warranty past the 3 year mark. If the car starts having problems at that point in my loan I'll probably be able to sell it and still make a profit.

Kill the warranty. No real need since it's made by toyota. You'll thank yourself for saving the $1000. If there are any issues with the car it will be due to defect, and if you dont find a defect in 3 years I highly doubt you will find one at all.

dude i highly recomend the extended warranty only due to the condition if your not going to put aftermarket add-ons to your car. If not what do you have to loose. The percantage of ____ happening to your car are more likely to happen then it not going to in the long run. You'll thank yourself later and your wallet will thank you. I have a 100,000 mile warranty for 1000 grand

I would recommend GAP insurrance over extended warranty. GAP covers the difference between the balance of your loan and the insurance payout if your car is totalled or stolen. Besides, you can always get extended warranty later.

I'm probably going to change different things on my car....projector headlights, stereo, maybe some engine mod (intake, header), sway or strut bar, and even leather down the line. Not all at once, but it may not be the best thing with warranty?

I didn't get an offer on GAP, so maybe if anything, I'll replace the extended for that.

Sorry, I should have said that GAP is good if you are currently upside down on the car loan. It's good idea if you currently owe more than the car is worth if totalled. A new car depreciates a large amount once it is driven off the lot. That's why they recommend that you should put atleast 25% down. If you are not upside-down, the don't worry about GAP insurance.
