Default front tint question

Is it a good idea to tint the front window for your car? I mean not a dark tint since not even my side windows are heavily tinted. I mean what is the highest tint I can get to allow the most visible front view for safety reasons.

Most states do not legally allow you to tint the front window, but a lot of places do it anyways.

I have mine tinted with a 90% and I really like it. The tint really helps keep the car cool and helps reduce glare.

I actually think florida is one of the states where tint is legal. Not positive though.

Well, technically you can only get the top of your front windshield tinted. In Florida it has to be higher than the manufacturer's AS-1 line and in Georgia it's 6 inches.

What you can do to get around this (if you're concerned about legalities at all) ask you family doctor, or any other doctor you're friendly with to write you a note for a medical tint.

If you're not concerned about getting pulled over then go nuts.

With that said I would only do a very light tint it any at all. Something close to 90% is OK, I wouldn't do any darker than 80% and definitely nothing darker than 70%.

no, it is not a great idea to tint your front window, at night, you know, you have reduced your visibility and ability to see out of the car for things like other animals, debris...people etc.

if you think it is too bright durring the day, why don't you try something called sun glasses.

anyway, call your local tint shops, they usually know the laws, here in md, they made me sign a statement saying that they explained the tint laws to me and i understood them. anyway, if i recall correctly, MD lets you tint the front window up to like 50% if you have a signed medical form from a doctor. and they do let you tint like the very top of it or whatever, but it really isn't necessary dudes, just buy a pair of nice shades.

My Dad owns his own window tinting business here in DE and I know the laws very well. lol ANYTHING on your front windows darker than 70% (which is basically what you windows are without ANY tint on them) is illegal in most states. Although people still tint the windows, they are really doing it at their own risk. Each state is different on how strict they are with window tint on the front driver and passanger windows. I know here in DE any cop can pull you over just for your tint. You can get a tinting waver from the DMV but even my Dad knows someone that had a cop pull him over even with the waver just because he couldn't see the guys seat belt on bcz of the dark windows. Lame.

It's really a try at your own risk thing.

I have 50% on the windshield. I had 18% but the po-po didn't like that. Never had any trouble with the 50% though.

my bro as 50% as well on his front windshield and you can barely notice it. Though it really does help, especially in Las Vegas where temps are constantly 100+ degrees

Exactly. When you go as light as 50%, you can barely see the difference but you definitely get the heat-blocking advantage.

Does anyone how much it'll be for just the front window? rest of my car is already tinted at 35%. Does different spec mean different cost?

Naw. Doesn't matter the % of the tint, they'll be the same price, but if their different materials the price will change.

The price of just front tint just depends on what shop you go to to get it done.

^ The windshield is the most expensive window to tint. It's big and pretty awkward to get down into the front edge.

I paid 100 for the windsheild on the SRT4 and the same for the TC, but that's for titanium tint, that's what you want lifetime warranty
