The head unit used in the tC is the same unit used in all the scion models. Therefore, there is a different setting based on the speaker size and placement in the models. The xA setting is louder than the tC setting in relation to its volume level, and the treble is more prominent. The xB setting is also louder, but seems to have a higher level of bass than the xA and tC settings. The tC setting is for optimal usage of the in-door tweeters, but has the lowest volume in relation to its level.

My settings are usually:

Treble: 0
Bass: 1
Hear (tC)

But occasionally I change them to:

Treble: 0
Bass: 1
Feel (xA)

xA setting
Feel
Bass +2
Treble +1
(although Bass can go down if I'm looking for more volume)

maybe if you start replacing speakers you can get the tC to sound better, neat concept but didn't think it sounded that great.

For a stock system, the H/U and speakers are much better than average. However, if you have money to spend, then of course upgrade. I rather spend the extra money on something nice for my woman..... :wink:

Street and Racing Technology.

Makes the car faster. and more exspensive.

make sure the dealer turns this off before you buy it. then turn it back on after u pay for the car.

Because the speakers get distorded really fast. They dont get distorted when the volume is low but when the volume is low the highs arent heard well.

Thats why I have the bass pretty much off and the volume really high. Actually with the bass on -5 and the volume up to 45 the bass is about the same is if it were set on +3 and the volume at 30.

xB
Hear
Bass +1
Treb +2

For those of you setting your bass to some ridiculously low number try setting the the HU to either the xA or xB setting (with bass and treb at 0 at first). The tC setting has too much low end for me so I set it to xB. It sounds alot better than leaving it on tC and killing the bass.

WTF IS SRT?????

wOoOzZy

I change it around for if I'm listening to rock, rap, or softer stuff (example: Mae). Keep in mind that I'm a bassist.

ROCK
Bass = 3
Treb = 5
SSP = Hear

RAP
Bass = 3
Treb = 5
SSP = Feel

SOFT
Bass = 5
Treb = 5
SSP = Hear (sometimes Feel)

I didn't even know about changing between xA, xB, and tC settings so I'll have to mess around with that. I assume, because I haven't changed it, that my settings are all on tC.

Hold down the SSP button for a few seconds and it will say what car type your currently in. Then use the volume up and down buttons to scroll through the three types (tC, xA, xB).

CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT SRT IS????? ITS BEFORE BASS... And you choose either on or off.Standard in every tC, this 160 watt Pioneer Stereo has 6-speakers (including two tweeters), built-In DSP Sound Equalization, Scion Sound Processing (SSP), MP3 Compressed Audio Playback, up to 10 hours of playback for 1 disc, MP3 file text capability, and satellite radio control. Additional features introduced on the tC include programmable text messaging, and Sound Retouch (SRT), a technology that compliments the MP3 capability by reconstructing music data distorted in the compression process. took me literally 5 seconds to find.

SRT stands for Sound Retouch Technology.

I dont understand why some folks dont like it, if you are running amps and subs, this can make your power come alive.

My settings on my head unit are as follows:

XB
SRT on
Bass 0
Treb 1
Feel
Fade 0
Balance 0
1000watt VR3 amp
Sub ( unknown ) its in a bandpass and its not mine ( probly another walmart VR3 ) lol

All the other adjustments can be made on your amp to sound quality. The only thing running on my amp is the sub. Doors are all powered off the head unit and I am able to push my volume to 55 without distortion.

Its all in the settings... If you set things properly, you can get one hell of a sound out of just the stock equipment and a sub.

at least he used the search button. :clap:

though... most of us over the years already figured out what SRT is... along with the fact that it's also in the manual.. (WHICH PEOPLE NEED TO READ)

other than that.. this thread can go back to sleep.
