Default tC Supercharger photos

Hi all,

I took some pictures of TRD's supercharger for the tC this week, I thought you might enjoy them.

really good pics..thanks..the 4 grand is probably about right...better give 60-80hp..they were claiming a bump to around 200 which would've been around 40hp..meaning about $1,000 per 10hp....

man that looks nice... too bad its 4k... like others stated thats not alot of hp gain for the money you pay... but the thing that they push is also the warranty which is good... a 4k turbo would sure spank the shiz out of it

yeah, bump to around 200 hp is what i had been hearing before, so the 60-80 hp boost that i was told by the tech suprised me a little... and i'm also surprised at the price, the TRD supercharger for the tacoma is only around $2600 street price (uninstalled)

figure 3k retail, plus 1k for the dealer to install (along the lines of $400 to install a set of lowering springs) = $4k. Street price at McGeorges might be around 2600 (15% off of retail).

and there's also talk that the 200hp is whp, so that would be from the ~140whp that we get now = 60 hp. Have also heard 220whp, so will have to wait and see.

Looks like a big plastic thing with silver paint.

Looks pretty nice though, its really smashed in there I noticed. Did you get a chance to start the car?? I want to know if the SC whine is heard. I guess I'll have to buy it.

Ya........right

Also, those of you thinking of buying the SC off line and installing it youself I suggest you dont. My dealer said that fuel maps and other crap are needed to be adjusted. So installing the SC yourself and going for a joyride will kill the motor unless you drive slowly up to Toyota and ask to remap the fuel curves.

You can still buy it online and bring the box to the dealer of your choice - that's what I did with my matrix - got the SC on some special deal, and took it to a local dealer - showed them the box sealed with TRD branded tape, just so that they won't scream that the part was used or something, then picked up the car next day with the SC on it. Then had warranty repairs done in several other dealerships - nobody even asked me to show them paperwork that the SC got installed at a toyota dealer.

+ install. yeah it is a lot of money. the good thing is the discussion of the warranty. 40hp is NOTHING as far as engine reliability goes. the stock motor will handle it perfectly as if it was n/a. the other thing is that its using a vortech trim supercharger. mostly all aftermarket vortech supercharger kits are putting out 100hp+ minimum, so its definately capable. with the correct amount of fuel and timing, it can easily be done. of course that will definately void the warranty because of the fuel and system upgrade over stock. but i know that trd is planning on offering an "upgraded" package that will include a smaller pulley (for more psi), and fuel upgrade.

I'm soooo itching to buy this! I noticed it kept the stock airbox too, I wonder if Injen or AEM will eventually make a hardpipe to replace that one...

Also, any ETA at all on the release? I keep debating between the supercharger and the Greddy turbo kit. When they're out with prices, I'll know.. But god that blower is huge....

i believe the basic rule of thumb is that the car will be warranted if you buy the supercharger with the car.

existing owners will have to take the risk of voiding the warranty if they want to upgrade.

this is what i was told by the Sparks Scion dealership.

On second glance its interesting that the drive shaft goes all the way across the motor. I wonder if there could be any potential problems with the shaft flexing under heavy load over time. Guess we will find out!

Also wondering if there is any room for an intercooler. It would be a big benifit to people who drive in hot climates. Hmm...

Scions goal was to get a supercharged tC for less than 20K. Installed. Plus there is more that goes with this than the supercharger-I heard an ECU upgarde as well as Fuel Injectors were necessary and included in the Scion Pure price of the Supercharger.

And adding the super should not void any warranties-even it was post sale-all other accessories are dealt with this way-why should they exclude the supercharger.

Rumor is an intercooler is also in the works-that may however affect warranty-or rely on the TRD warranty only.

The super will be officially released at the North American International Auto Show-and will be available by March. They tried to do a SEMA release and a January delivery date-but production would be to small for the expected demand by January
