BlckdOutTC 06-17-2008, 03:06 AM alright that seems kinda simple, what about putting them back together after i tint them, do i bake them again or add more glur or what davedavetC 06-17-2008, 03:09 AM or if you feel 315 is too high, my friends and i do it at 225 for 15 min and it works perfect. also if you change your mind on smoking the side markers my friend and i sell clear corners for 20shipped. :) BlckdOutTC 06-17-2008, 03:11 AM nahh im going for the smoked out look sorry =]. you know anything about the re-assemble???? O5_TRD_tC 06-17-2008, 03:21 AM 315 is too high Need4Bass05 06-17-2008, 03:22 AM Read this should walk you through it. BlckdOutTC 06-17-2008, 03:46 AM i noticed theres nothing in that one about applying new sealant on when putting them back together...moisture buildup would be aweful i only wanna do this once haha. what would you guys recommend as a sealant? TeeCizzle 06-17-2008, 03:50 AM Take the 4 Screws out from the backside. i set my oven at 250 for 15mins... then pull apart w/ oven gloves & a flathead screw driver! Then re-heat the adhesive then put back together!!! BlckdOutTC 06-17-2008, 03:55 AM alright sounds easy enough. i was readin up on the clear corner thread and RodC baked his and didnt use anything either so i think i'll be set. just found that thread so sorry for the repost, im going to attempt tomorrow so ill be back with results jes3se 06-17-2008, 07:52 AM yeah, i do 220 for 15... faux_ghost 06-17-2008, 01:41 PM yeah 315 is to high, i meant 215 davedavetC 06-17-2008, 01:59 PM i noticed theres nothing in that one about applying new sealant on when putting them back together...moisture buildup would be aweful i only wanna do this once haha. what would you guys recommend as a sealant? i put a bead of black silicone around my headlights and also i put a silica gel packet in each headlight... just incase. i didnt want any fogging... BlckdOutTC 06-17-2008, 04:17 PM i noticed theres nothing in that one about applying new sealant on when putting them back together...moisture buildup would be aweful i only wanna do this once haha. what would you guys recommend as a sealant? i put a bead of black silicone around my headlights and also i put a silica gel packet in each headlight... just incase. i didnt want any fogging... you put a packet of gel in each headlights? like one that come in some shoe boxes and back packs and stuff? davedavetC 06-17-2008, 05:03 PM yes sir. i didnt wanna take any chances AtC 06-17-2008, 05:45 PM call me stupid but i never knew the purpose for the gel packets?! what they for? when i was little, i was told it was poison for the roaches and stuff  deflaytedwayz1 06-17-2008, 06:27 PM I went to Ace hardware and went to the glue section and found a clear sealant that was marine grade and after re-baking them and putting the screws back in I ran a bead around the whole headlight and haven't had a problem. toeveryhour 06-17-2008, 06:36 PM good idea. i gotta jump on this soon (putting them back together, that is) BlckdOutTC 06-17-2008, 08:08 PM where did you put that gel packet without it being noticeable?? and i'll go check for some of that sealant. i just put it one lap around after press the 2 housing s back together? TeeCizzle 06-17-2008, 08:13 PM ^ u dont need a gel pak or sealant!... just reheat the original adhesive back in the oven and do a slow good job! BlckdOutTC 06-17-2008, 09:02 PM I just wanna be extra safe, its my first time baking them open so i want to make sure nothing gets back in or no moisture or anything develops :) davedavetC 06-18-2008, 03:26 AM I just wanna be extra safe, its my first time baking them open so i want to make sure nothing gets back in or no moisture or anything develops :) underneth the black bezel i glued the silica gel packet to the housing, so far it works out great. and even tho i put the lights back in the oven for 10 min when i was done, with no sealant and no packets i got condensation almost instantly (and i took a good 20 min per headlight to make sure that they were sealed right, with all clips and what not held down tight. so i went back opened them again threw the gel pack in and ran a silicone bead down. no problems for almost a year :) |
