Hi guys ! I've looked in the manual, but couldn't find it. The question: which fuse handles the stereo HU and where is it located ? How do you remove it ?

It isnt the easiest thing to get to. Although, it is in the manual.

Just behind the storage drawer to the left of the steering wheel. You will have to get your head under there to see it. There is a small plastic cover that you have to pull off.

The cover has a diagram on the back of each fuse and its purpose.

It is actually located in the fuse block under the hood next to the battery. It is the only 15 amp (red) in the block. Also controls the map and dome lights.

OK, guys. Now I'm confused. THIS fuse on THIS car can only be in ONE location. So one of you is full of it :rofl: So which one of you is talking from personal experience ? DXNOICS - the one you've mentioned is #19 in the manual and it's said to control interior light,personal lights,luggage compartment light. No mentioning of stereo ...

Sorry, let me check when I get down to my car. I was in that area this weekend and I guess just assumed the stereo fuse would be there in the interior rather then the engine compartment.

It turns out that I am the one who is full of "it". The lighter and accessory fuses are on the interior, as well as the doors and signals. However there are no fuses labeled stereo.

Out of curiousity, why are you trying to find this? I would be surprised to hear that you need to replace the fuse.

I had a personal experience with it last weekend when I plugged in the clock connector to the back of the radio!
I too hunted for a while until I found it. It is not in the manuals.

What I'm trying to do is to see if I can override the "safety" feature on my new Scion Nav system. I've got an improved map CD that works on some other Toyotas. I'll need to remove and re-insert that fuse to reset the HU and re-instal the map disc. Then it should let me use all the nav features while moving. I hope it works.

It's above your feet below the steering wheel. The fuse that's under the hood is a 15amp accessory fuse. The fuse that powers your radio is under there. I think it's a brown 20amp fuse, I had to replace mine when I fried it. Just read the cover and it's right there. If you can't figure it out, I'll let you know which one I replaced (by the name on the cover).
