I have single disc HU in my 4runner but the display cuts in and out. If I have the bolts out of the bracket the display is fine. But as soon as i screw them in the display goes away. It is still illuminated but no text. The little lights around the CD slot go off and the buttons dont work. Anyone have any ideas?

Also, if this cannot be solved, i am looking for a new HU, single or 6 disc. Thanks.

Well i got a good price for my first one, $75 Shipped. So i would be willing to pay something around there again. What are either of you looking/hoping to get for it?

 

as for your problem i can trouble shoot it, but i cant tell you how to fix it. it obviously sounds like your head unit lighting is shorting out. when you screw the bolts into the mount they are completing a ground and shorting. check around where the holes in your head unit mounting brackets are to see if there are any bare wires or anything out of the ordinary. thats all i can say.
