Haha not sure if you saw in the 1st post, its from 5Axis.

Any idea how it mounts up? Does it slide right into the clips? I'm weary of cutting them off, hopefully someone (cough VRD?) makes some fogs that slide right in. :D

pickledchang
06-20-2008, 05:25 AM
id also like a little more info on the install, especially how the wiring goes in... does it just come with a standard toggle switch to mount on your dash? could you post the install directions on here?

id have to say this is at the top of my list now of things to get!

tmrepp
06-20-2008, 05:33 AM
Also, does it utilize the fog light (light) in the dash cluster? Someone figured out how to turn it on, did they ground it or give it 12v(+). I'd like to make the install completely seamless. Wiring doesn't really matter, as I'm good with it. Practically installed the whole alarm with a little guidance, and customized it to the point where it's at now. Also ran my own power inverter wire from the battery, put a relay in to turn on my radio from my alarm remote, and also relayed the inverter so it shuts off without the ignition on, but have a switch, so if I want it on without the car on it will turn on. Otherwise, you forget and leave it on.

Sorry, rambling. Mind's going 100mph, but I'm exhausted.

Haha not sure if you saw in the 1st post, its from 5Axis.

I thought that meant it was featured with the kit, not made by 5Axis.

Also interested if there is a toggle switch for the inside of the car and if (when they're one) that they light up the icon on the dash.

ive got the same questions as tmrepp, im hoping the install comes out to be as 'factory' looking/functioning as possible... so the xD has a fog light indicator light on the dash? ive never even paid attention to that.

If your body kit just bolts on, the bumper isn't any different, then of course it would. If it changes the shape of the vent holes or whatever they're meant to be, then who knows. hah

edit:
^^ The only way i knew it was there was I was messing around with my flashlight in the car and looking to see what symbols were on the gauges lol  Yes.. I do strange things when I get bored :lalala:

I noticed when I had the gauge cluster sitting out beside the car in my driveway and the sun was shining on it. I was like wow, wtf and no fog light wiring? Lame

iST symbol only

tmrepp
06-20-2008, 06:55 AM
Huh? You mean wiring on the ist only, I know, it's not right. Every other car that toyota has put out, that has spots for fog lights at the very LEAST has the wiring for it. Oh well. I just hope I can figure out how to get that fog light indicator light to come on. I'll eventually do a clean install.

ChelsDS
06-20-2008, 07:14 AM
Well its both. We don't have the pre-wiring so therefore the symbol will never light up unless we either wired in our fogs and had it come on when they did. Or you could be silly and just have the symbol turn on without fogs.

tmrepp
06-20-2008, 07:16 AM
I'll eventually wire it in, so it'll seem completely factory. Symbol and all.

pickledchang
06-20-2008, 04:58 PM
thats what i want, factory as possible. should be pretty easy to do despite lack of factory wiring. just need to find a nice switch that goes in one of the cutouts on the dash/console. so there is not even a bulb or led in there to light up the fog symbol?

tmrepp
06-20-2008, 05:35 PM
Who said there's no way to light up the symbol?

pickledchang
06-21-2008, 12:15 AM
i was reading that there was no wiring or anything... does this thing light up at start up? i havent even paid attention to that. is there an empty cannon plug or anything on the back of the gauges that we are going to run power to for this light?

Sorry for the late replies we've been pretty busy here. I'm still working on getting you guys the installs so we can all check out whats involved in the kit, I was going to be drop shipping them from the manufacturer but I think on Monday I'm going to get a set here and get into it to get you all good answers. Regarding the 5axis part I was misinformed and got excited with it. The same people that Toyota gets the 5Axis kit from are the ones that got me this fog kit and since it looks the same as the one on the 5axis car I jumped to conclusions. I'll get all the details for everyone on Monday though, either way its a killer kit, fully complete and in my mind pretty low priced compared to the other fog kits we've got for the other Toyota's and Scion's.

Oh crap I need to get these!

Who makes this kit and have they made kits before? Whats the quality like?

The bodykit is manufactured by us, Five Axis. This kit is available currently through Scion Dealerships like Sparks or soon through other retailers. It is manufactured from OE grade black urethane and fits perfectly to the car. All our kits are designed and built using computer data and not hand shaped like other kits. This insures precision fit similar to any OE part.

The foglights shown on this post are NOT a Five Axis product. These fogs were simply Photochopped onto a car we built for Scion Corp w/o our knowledge.

Our prototype foglights are quite different and are still in development and testing. Here is what our lights look like. AND before you start flooding me w/ emails, please refrain knowing that we are still doing some development work and depending on results may or may not release this product.

Appreciate your patience and understanding!

Okay, open mouth, insert foot.

Let's try this one more time, shall we? If you are wondering what I'm referring to, well I posted earlier addressing the bodykit! For some idiotic reason I thought this guy was asking about the body kit and not the lights! Silly me! Sorry about that! I really wasn't trying to plug our parts....really! :D

Anyway, I can't say much about this product, in particular, other than this. It is part of Scion's aftermarket catalog program called Optomize which means it had to pass Scion's strict standards. Anyway Sparks is the place to get it!

Again, sorry for the mixup. I'll shut up now and go away now.

The fogs that 5Axis are creating right now are displayed in this picture or those aren't fogs at all?

a little more in-depth then i thought... but maybe its just the amount of detail in the instructions, lol. anyone else done this install yet? im just a little nervous about the 'trimming material' away part from the bumper. looks awesome though!

Runawayrogue
07-02-2008, 10:35 PM
It doesn't look too difficult from a read of the instructions. They are very detailed, so it should be easy enough to follow if you're somewhat mechanically inclined. Unfortunately since they're just scans, I couldn't really make out what needs to be trimmed...

Jamie, do we know if the factory facia bezel can be reinstalled after this trimming?

Also... how much slack does the switch wiring have? I'd rather put the switch on my accessory panel on the center console than drill my dash. It's much cheaper to replace a small plastic piece if you screw it up.

pickledchang
07-03-2008, 06:30 AM
yeah, those pictures with the trimming is where i got a little lost, the rest of it looks easy.

ive also got the same idea with the switch going on the center console by the ebrake where they pre-cutouts already are. if the wirings not long enough, it should be easy enough to splice on some longer wires.

Zefoxe
07-03-2008, 04:49 PM
Looks good Jamie. Kinda wished they went all out and gave pre-cut trims along with the kit though (I hate measuring and cutting). Oh well better then nothing I suppose.

trdsparks
07-05-2008, 05:39 AM
I don't think the wiring would be long enough honestly. But if your handy enough you should be able to get it down there to the center console. Myself I would just leave it, it doesn't look bad at all in my opinion.

Jamie

Runawayrogue
07-07-2008, 06:41 AM
I'm just paranoid, that's all! It would make more sense to have the button near the headlight switch, but I hate the idea of drilling the dash when I have an accessory panel.

trdsparks
07-07-2008, 10:24 PM
I know what you mean. I just looked at the kit real close and it doesn't look like it would reach for sure. The switch though looks pretty good like it was supposed to be where you install it, it will not look bad at all.

We have sold almost all out of our first batch of stock so hopefully some of those people will post pics! Just looking at the kit first hand and the quality of the pieces, its not cheaply made. I'm 100% sure that the end result will be exactly what you see in the pics on the first post.

Any chance whether you know if the lip kit on the RS1 will interfere with the lighting for these Jamie?

ChelsDS
07-11-2008, 10:53 PM
I would think the light from the fogs would be hampered from that plastic bar going from either side in that hole on the bumper. I wouldn't suggest putting a fog there because of that.

rhino74s
07-13-2008, 03:34 PM

You won't be able to use any fog lights with the RS1 lip kit.
It completely covers the area these fogs go in.

Zefoxe

from what i read, it seems just unscrew mud guards, unscrew/clip off vent covers, cut the actually vent covers, mount the lights and position em into the new holes and reassemble

even if they dont, its really not that difficult to splice in longer sections of wire so it will reach...

Did you by any chance take high-res shots of the materials? I want to see what the kit looks like, or at least some up-close high-res shots of the lights themselves and where they're mounted. How bright are they? Make any difference while driving?

Here is a high res shot of one of the lights installed. The quality is on par with the rest of the car. The foglight uses an H8 bulb, so I guess it is bright as the headlights, I installed Sylvania Silverstar ultra lights the first day I got the car, so I can't compare to stock lights. The foglights 'brighten' up the road in front and illuminate to the sides, but nothing drastic. The Sylvania's were a hughe difference from the stock headlight bulbs.

That was my exact first thought when I saw these, just look too small, they don't fill the recess enough... too much black plastic around them or something... :ponder:

I actually wanted to mount Driving Lights on the top of the bumper, right in front of the top grill, but underneath the plastic bumper skin is just a big block of styrofoam, so nowhere much to go with mounting bolts... Guess I'll do HIDs instead...
