You'd honestly be better off just buying one with the tranny you want. Besides the tranny itself, you'd need wiring, the ecu is probably different. Not sure about pedal configuration, could be an issue. There may be differences in the speed sensors. The list continues, I'm sure. Unless you've got a wrecked one that's dirt cheap, it wouldn't be worth it.

If you bought an auto, just put the money into the SC.
If you bought a stick, just keep practicing.

It depends on how good you want it to look and who you know. To do it right and get the door sills and engine bay, you're probably looking at 1 to 3k, more if you want to get fancy

Auto ECU's are sometimes compatible with manuals, but never vice versa.
To do the swap, you'll need manual tranny (housing, clutch, flywheel, and all), ECU, clutch pedal, clutch master cylinder, shifter and associated interior pieces, and probably a few extra little pieces. I doubt anybody has attempted it yet on the TC, so good luck finding procedural info. Since the car is brand new, you should just buy one with a manual.

I don't recommend adding a SC or turbo to the auto, because any significant power increase is gonna blow that thing.

 

I'm sure you can swap your car with someone else that has what you want. Did you have one question in particular, or just want to know about everything?

 

That's why it's a dealer installed option right? I've not yet heard of any word stating a SC and Auto fitting together would be bad, not from dealers, or scion corp.

 

Are you guys actually going to keep your cars that long? Who cares if anything breaks....as long as it is under warranty. They will prob. have another body style the same year my warranty is up. If I stay with a Tc after 5 years, it will be a new one anyways. My advice....have fun with your car! Who cares about metal shavings in your oil or a creeky sunroof!!!?? Beat the hell out of it!....then sell it with 5k miles left on the warranty.

 

I would get the OEM SC if it was cheaper... *hehe* For 4K thats another down payment on a tC!

 

I'd bet an Auto with the SC will last longer than the manual with one.

Of course it won't matter if you just drive it like you stole it as shimmy thinks everyone should do cuz we all love to waste extra money on cars...

 

Right now I prefer an auto, especially since my right arm is sooooo jacked up. But if you commute alot, I would stay with an auto. And it will be alot of if you SC it. I drove a Matrix auto w/ a SC, and now I want one for my Matrix.
