Ok, I've finally tightened up my ride, no more mods for me now:

http://homepage.mac.com/jbauder/PhotoAlbum18.html

(scroll down to see the wheels, nice for how cheap they were, $500 with tires from Wheelmax. They weigh about a pound or two more with tires than stock.)
Pictures up higher are from an unfortunate seagull murder near Santa Barbara. What was a seagull doing standing on 101 around a dark turn at night? bird velocity: 0 mph, Scion velocity: 75mph. Bird failed the side impact test.
Let me know what you think of the wheels!

Joe

(I'll try to get pics posted under my profile too)

How much did the Eibach springs set you back if you don't mind me askin;?

the springs were $299 from sciontuner.com. (pretty sure) thanks to instructions on the forum, the installation was pretty easy. (thanks Eric!)
yeah, i was surprised at the quality for how cheap they were. From afar they look perfect, when you get up close it looks like 18"s might be a little better, but basically no complaints here.
btw, with lowering and wider, flatter wheels, the Scion handles GREAT in the twisties. I was pretty impressed

car looks great. i feel bad for that seagull you killed. you hit it so hard that it put stains on your car.

i didn't even know the seats could go back that far. i'm 6'4.5" and my seats are not nearly that far back. i think. i guess some people like to ride in style or whatever it's called.

that's not me in the first photo. it's a tiny Chinese girl, a bigger Korean dude, and two medium-size white and Indian guys. not me in the photo, I'm just a white boy. that's gary coleman, not me, in the photo
Are the seats that far back in the photos lower down? I'm only 5'11 . . . but I do like them pretty far back usually . . .
thanks for the props, it was a Wheelmax special. Here's the link, those wheels are up to $750 now but they'll have a new $499 special every week in 205/40R17:

cool deal if you don't need 18s and there's a style you like . . .
Actually, Apple DOES pay me, but they should give me a little bonus for the free advertising . . .

eric, you so damn tall and you car is so damn low! are you running for the Tallest Guy in Lowest Car award? ;-)
I would love to see a commercial with some tiny Japanese woman coming down from her perch in a huge Ford Expedition or something, and then you coming out from a lowered down Scion. Kind of like Apple's Yao-Ming-and-Mini-Me (Verne Troyer) ad with the two PowerBooks . . .

the only movie with Liz Phair, from what I understand. yeah, they're some kind of yuppie storage. Actually, they're cool to look at but I would feel weird living in them. They might be condos.

Hey scionic looks great! What kind of tires does wheelmax put on their specials? I was eyeing the same wheels in gunmetal but well i hate calling high strung salespeople.

at least on the 17" wheels they're Kumho Ecstas. Don't know what to expect from the tires in terms of longevity but they seemed to grip fine in fast driving up in the East Bay hills in the SF Bay area. I wanted to do a "wear-in run" of the tires and they gripped just fine.
not that I have a ton of tire upgrade experience, they could be sucky tires and it just corners well 'cause they're flat and have more of a contact patch.
