Default Lets get this Warranty straightened out...Basic and Platinum

Basic and Powertrain Warranty are different from Platinum Warranty..

I know what you guys are gonna say. Plat is only a 2 year extension. NO ITS NOT.

It has WAY more coverage than Basic and Powertrain.. SO not only is it for peace of mind but its much better coverage and only 20 bucks more a month well for me...

ok bye

Look, if you want the extended warranty for peace of mind, then great for you...but it's not a good value. The "extra things" it covers are either really unimportant or extremely unlikely to need repair...

I think its a great value because hello this is a new model either way you look at it. Its not like its a 2005 toyota 4runner or a 2006 TC.. its a 2005 tc.. first year.. anything can go wrong.. Look at all the complaints people are posting here.

Are you trying to get people to agree with you to justify spending the extra $1000 or convince us that we should all run out and buy a platinum warranty? I had the option, I didnt want it. It was fully explained to me the differences, and based on toyota's reputation for high quality and planning to modify the car myself, I said no.

I believe in toyota's quality. I didn't feel it was necessary. If you feel your purchase was justified, than it was for you.

Be merry and content, sing songs, dance in the streets and drink lots of beer. Beer is good. You now have a tC, and its awesome, as well as completely covered if anything breaks.

I will drink plenty of beer for you.

Also Im pretty sure that you can buy the extended warrenty anytime before the regular one ends. So if in a year you decide hey maybe i should get it then you can. Why spend the cash now?

You are right, if you feel you need the platinum warranty, you can get it anytime before 3 years or 36,000 miles.

My 2 cents would be that the '05 tC isn't really a "first year" car since it has engineering that borrows heavily from the Avensis (sold in europe) and the Camry, and they've had plenty of time to work the bugs out of those.

If it was designed fresh from the ground up I probably would have gone for the platinum too, but since it wasn't I just went with what it came with.

Besides, any real serious mods will void the warranty, and with a shorter warranty that means the sooner I can get serious about modding it.

Im not a serious modder. All i really want to put on this car is HID's, light tints, auto start/alarm and the monster icruze for the ipod. thats it.

Just so you know, if you add HIDs and auto-start, you can wave bye-bye to any warranty on your electrical system...

oh cmon u've got to be kidding meeeeeeeeeeee

Ok i called the dealer and yes it does void it but only if they did something wrong. So if the person who installed it did it perfectly fine.. then you have nothing to worry about.

The electrical system of the tC is most definitely NOT designed to carry HID headlights. At least, that's what they'll say if any problem with the electrical system crops up.
