Bought an overhead console on ebay. Looks good. A few issues:

1) No installation instructions included.
2) Headliner cutout template looks to be for xB or something other
3) A decorative insert is needed as, I assume, a different part number

Anyone been through this before?

is this the overhead compartment like the "ist" one's? if so mine has instructions but all in japanese. so i never got around to putting it in yet.

According to the instructions, etc. it is for "your favorite photo".

Looks like you could just screw in a second tray if you wanted to (and could find one!).

I don't know if it is an "american" version or not. It came from a Toyota dealer in the US and had Japanese Toyota words stuff all over it.

interesting mine had nothing about photos on it.

With nothing more to it than that, I don't see me hacking up my interior :no:

it has some cutting but once in it looks like it'll be a permanent fixture.

i wish i hadnt had this thing installed, already banged my head on it a bunch of times and im only 6.0. the photo holder is neat but you cant see unless you are lying down, or you are 3 feet tall or something. ____ed i wasted my money on this. it also makes the car feel claustrophobic, and limits your peripheral vision. DONT BUY AN OVERHEAD CONSOLE FOR THE xD, ANYONE!! YOU DONT NEED IT. Especially if you like to drive agressively. There are already enough inovative storage options in the cockpit.

How dificult is it to hack into the roof liner to install the overhead cargo box? I just bought one and wanted the extra space for some gadgets. How long did it take for those of you that may have done this??

about 30 minutes cause i didn't have all my tools. but could be alot faster to install. the hacking part pretty easy as the instructions tell you how long to make your blade.
