Sponsorship ?'s
Hey guys, I'm looking for sponsorships with some after market companies. I was wondering if any of y'all have gotten sponsorships yet and how y'all did it. i know its easier if you are local to the manufacturer (SP?) but there aren't really any around here unless there are some in Houston, but I haven't heard of any. any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
SPONSORSHIP 101
Sponsorship is a form of sometimes cheap advertising for companies to present their product for the 1,000's of general public to see versus the high cost of putting it on TV, a newspaper or magazine .
There are some many factors in getting a full or partial Sponsorship. A majority of the time you need to contact the companies and have some mods or super mods on your car. Sometimes you don't need mods, but you need to smooze them to tell them what mods you plan on adding real soon. Tell them about yourself and how you are into the car show scene. Send them pictures of you, your car and list the car shows you have attended or plan on attending.
Remember they don't know who you are and they may be getting many weekly requests for sponsorship. It's kind of like you trying to get a job and you need to sell yourself to get it over the other applicants.
Some companies look for the following:
1. If your car is a new model that hitting the sales market. Some companies will be looking to put their product on your car.
2. Look for a company who has a new car product for your car. If their product or business is new, they may be looking for cars to display their product or show what kind of Custom work they can do.
3. Your home location is important and they may need to show their product in one region or different regions of the USA.
4. If you are getting any local custom work on your car such as paint, stereo install etc. asked if they do any sponsorships. You may be suprised to get a labor or parts discount on the work they do for you. Tell them how you would tell your club members hand out flyers, cards at the all the car shows you attend to advertise/expose their business to other car enthusiats.
5. Tell them you belong to a car club that has over 1,000 members and has regional chapters across the USA and you would give them free advertising links on the various scion sites when you do your blog postings.
6. And you'll need LUCK. For there are many, many car owners who would love a partial or full sponsorship. Remember you should never pay a registation fee to get a legit sponsor.
7. You must be willing, if asked to display their company decals on your car.
Well, I guess this is a start on how to obtain car sponsorship and hope this little write up helps anybody who is trying.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Most lagit companies that are going to be doing a sponsorship with you, if they don't know you or any of your already sponsors, if you have any, want you to write up some form of letter, letting them know who you are, if you belong to any car club, where the car will be (upcomming show, events, SEMA...thats a quick seller!) Also when doing this, you are making a business transaction and this will be a contract! If you for somereason love to street race in a small Scion, you will be asked to take off there product and give it back, no business wants to be known for that. Also you are not to run a competitors product on the same ride, conflict of intrests are a Big NO NO!( like running sprint suspension and tenabi strut and sway... no sprint doesnt have a strut or sway, but tanabi has lowering springs too, so this is a conflict of intrest for Sprint, go TRD or hit up another non lowering companie for the strut and sway bars!) They are giving you free product, so if they need your car for some event, you will bend over backwards for them to show it off, this is not a bad thing though for some people itch and complain, but if you are serious about building a nice ride, you need as much exposure as possible and remember that all of these business owners know all or most of there competition and other connectios for they probibly worked for or with them! You do not come up in this industry over night, it takes a lot of work and dedication and best of luck to all of you that want this for yourself, in my personal experience it has brought me into this awsome world of the import and domestic car industry and I love it! Hit me up if you need help writing something up and I will try my best to help any of you out...Best of luck to you all!
bro I could have told you that... do people really think that there are tons of companies out there trying to just give FREE ish away, that costs $ and this industry is hurting so bad right now that nobody is just giving free ish away!! The only way I can see them giving random people sponsorships would be if they built someones vehical, but then they got to take your car for a few months across the country for shows and events and thats how the companies get there $'s worth for advertisements and what not! But sponsorships come with a lot of responsibility and its not for everybody,, yes everyone wants free ish but that is not what it is!!! But on the other hand if anyone wants a good price on something, NOT FREE, I can help with that part just PM me with the part and company, NO Audio Equipment, and I can see what I can do for you all!
