I am looking at a new xA as my first car. I like the looks of the exterior but the center mounted Speedo made the xA all but eliminated from my new car list. I was wondering if there where any companys offering a way to move the gauges to the conventional placement infront of the driver? Thanks for your help.

you can custom make anything with enough money, don't think it's worthy the trouble for such low priced car though.

I have seen one xA that had the instruments mounted in the radio din hole. But that doesn't help your situation. I hated the center gauges when my mom first got her echo, in time I found it nice at night to have nothing out in front of you.

you get use to it, don't worry about having it off to the side, get it cause you like it

It's annoying to have to look between you hands and duck to see under the steering wheel to see guages anyways, I've been stuck on center gauges since my echo, only wished the guages on the xA were angled a hair towards the driver like the Echo

I don't see why it would be hard. You would simply need to make a new houseing. People mount gauges all the time. I was thinking about the same thing too. Center-Gauge Pods

Traditional Gauge Pods are closer and easier to read, you just look down and still have vertical periferal vison. The center pod means you have to turn your head. The gauges are also on the small side. The large empy spot infront of the steering wheel also detracts from the car interior. At least the Mini has the Tac in front of the driver and HUGE speedo. Nice how it actualy has a purpose too, besides "Safety"

you could probably do a retro fit from one of the new corvettes for the heads up display, that would be awesome. but if you moved the gauges you would have a hole in the dash, or have to get it fiberglassed

I wanted to customize my xA when I first got it because of the gauges in the middle. You'll get use to it. Plus, it makes it stand out from other cars. :)

I don't know about that. However as far as the "hole", can you say LCD screen ^_^. I'm sure their are plenty of goodies you could put in there. LCds, Computers, gauges

I don't know why you would want one way up there, but whatever kinda screen you put there, you are going to need custom work to get it to look good.
